Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

God knows but surely the invoice would be from
Motorhomes R US,
I xyz motorhome,
Purchaser SNP

But then its been registered to him personally rather than to SNP.

Sorry, I didn’t explain what I meant well.

I’m wondering if the “fake receipts” mentioned are because for some items instead of, for example,
“£350 for games console” they say “£350 for mileage, y hotel and expenses for meeting with potential donor”

So what looks like a genuine amount of money for an acceptable reason is given the ok, but the actual purchase shouldn’t be ok. I think that could especially happen if people simply stopped looking at his SNP card statement and just accepted that his expected bill from his receipts (fake and real) was £x and the card statement matched so it was ticked off.

They correctly identified there was something wrong with the accounts that they said they didn’t see? How does that work?

They correctly identified there was something wrong precisely because they weren’t allowed to see them

Need the laugh emoji back for this one. 😂

I don’t know why anyone thinks that poster is funny. Are you all not Scottish?

Precisely. And the idea that the people sitting on these sorts of committees know nothing is absolute nonsense. My work audit committee is made up of an accountant, two lawyers (one specialising in risk), and a senior HR specialist. Lots of much smaller charities I know and work with have a similar make up on their finance, audit and / or risk committees. Qualified people are often very happy to use their skills and expertise to support causes they believe in.

So by telepathy then?

So do you think she saw the camper van?

That would be my assumption. You couldn’t have gone, and not seen it. I suppose she could have been told it was a neighbour’s and they’d asked to park it there. The on street parking is awkward in that estate. But she would have seen it, nonetheless.

I saw another poster on twitter saying they’d seen Sturgeon in the Asda at Halbeath a couple of times (very nearby) buying stuff for dinner; assuming that she was taking it to her MILs. They could be making it up, but it’s plausible.

Also, you don’t vote for a party during a referendum, you vote on an issue. Like Brexit.

I think at least some fraction of voters would be thinking on who was likely to be in charge after the vote and whether they trusted them to do a good job or not.

Is Joanna Cherry an accountant on the side?

They did. For the election in May. They exceeded their target.

There have been some developments since then though.

Exactly. There's something badly wrong if the audit committee knows nothing about finance. They're not the professional auitors, but they should be people with skills/experience/qualifications to ask the right questions. Which tbf they did.

But you said “vote for them at a referendum” which has never happened. You don’t vote for a party at a referendum. I don’t know any other way to put it. You vote on a single issue.

Give over. Refusing to hand the accounts over to the finance and audit committee (and the new treasurer at one point) is obvious suspicious.

You don’t need telepathy to work that out.

The behaviour around the accounts was dodgy. Members of the committee flagged that and walked away. They were indeed proven correct that something wasn’t right.

As it turns out Frank Ross, one of those who quit, is indeed an accountant. Joanna Cherry has a legal background, which makes sense on a committee like that.

She didn't do well with covid - there were far more deaths in Scotland.

No there weren’t… England, Wales then Scotland.

Why? Was Peter unarrested during the campaign?

EasternStandard · Yesterday 17:48

Looking it up Wales had highest covid 19 deaths per 100k and Scotland had highest excess deaths.

I don’t need telepathy. The members who walked away, walked away to Alba. Except for JC who clung on like a limpet.

Frank Ross, the accountant, didn’t join alba.

It absolutely does.

I mean, it doesn’t suit your stance that they were all just randoms with no skills that one was an accountant and one a strong legal background, but it makes sense to everyone else

JustAnotherWhinger · Yesterday 17:57

So your statement that they all quit to join alba was bollocks then…
