I think its a shame that theres no Harry Maguire - his mum taking to defend him on social media makes her, imo, slightly iconic

What do we think? Will Tuchel bring us the cup, or are we in for heartbreak?

Toney was a surprise, but I think he's only there for pens, and won't play before being subbed in in the last 2 minutes of extra time.

Gibbs White deserved to go. And possibly Wharton.

Maguire can do one. His entitlement is astonishing, and his family seem as bad as he is. Is he still fighting that conviction?

They are not going to win whoever they pick, so I'm happy enough.

I bet that the armchair pundits will all go on the sport radio channels having a rant that he has left off so many big names. It’s a gamble I suppose. If it works he’ll be praised and if it’s bad he’ll get the abuse.

I dont think Foden deserved to go, not had a great year.
I think I would have taken Adam Wharton over Jordan Hendersom, but apparently he is going for his leadership qualilities. Alth that sounds a bit meh tbh.
Toney is an odd choice for me.
And I agree about Gibbs White, i think he should be there.
And I cannot get my head around Djed Spence. Spurs defence has been shocking all season...

Hadn't thought of that. But it doesn't look great for him or any of his family to be moaning about it online.

Tuchel has already said he's 'surprised' at it (read disappointed) given it was a private conversation leaked before the announcement.

I agree about Maguire - I think he is dire, and as you say his entitlement is a reason he shouldn’t go.

He's more use up front at corners than he is as a defender.

Tuchel seems to have a thing for a group that works together, and leadership and character, hence Henderson, and Maguire blotted his own copybook on that.

Yeah we’ve had that issue for years - good players that don’t play well together or work as a team. It was a major problem with Gerrard and Lampard a few years ago. I’m happy to try out a cohesive team, without any divas to be honest. No other managers have been able to do it for the last 60 years!

I am a Liverpool fan and happy to see Henderson in the squad. He was a good captain for us, in my opinion.

Good captain but an awful player. Choosing experience is all well and good if you’ve got enough players to pad the team out. Realistically Henderson shouldn’t be in any squad.

Doesn't really matter. Scrape through the group, bore our way through the last 16 with a Kane penalty. Out in the quarter finals.

I hadn't realised that Harry Maguire's criminal record could have created issues with getting him into the US, though I bet an exception would have been made. I think his reaction showed a lack of class, he could have waited until after the squad announcement and wished others well.

I'm more interested in the hope that for the first time Scotland get beyond the group stage. England will do well to make the semi-finals.
