A dear relative passed away not very long ago and was a massive ELO fan.
Obviously some of you will be too young to remember them but in the 70’s and 80’s they had many hits including Mr Blue Sky, All over the world, Evil woman etc.
There is a one off performance of ELO’s music by the Halle orchestra at Bridgewater Hall this Saturday(23rd May) and I would love to go but no one in the family is available due to prior commitments or mobility issues and I don’t want to go by myself.
My question is, how can I find out if anyone has a ticket spare due to someone being unable to attend and would be willing to have my company for the event.
I would pay the full cost of the ticket and any additional costs incurred! Unfortunately neither Bridgewater Hall nor FB can help.

Sorry for your loss. Are the tickets on sale still or through an agent like ticketmaster or stubhub.

Isittimeformynapyet · 18/05/2026 11:31

It's worth a try. Really hope this works out for you 🙏🏻

Tsundokuer · 18/05/2026 11:32

I don't quite understand how that is different to going by yourself? If you can find someone with a spare ticket, you would potentially be a spare part to that person's party or making uncomfortable small talk with someone you don't know and wouldn't choose to spend an evening with.

There look to be quite a few tickets available so just go by yourself and enjoy!

lottlecat · 18/05/2026 11:33

I don’t know what town/city but it might be worth joining their local facebook community type pages for this

iamfedupwiththis · 18/05/2026 11:35

Just go on your own, what will happen??

MissMoneyFairy · 18/05/2026 11:35

There are plenty of seats still available via their website, you will be sat next to another fan, you don't need to go with someone else, just chat to other people, you'll be fine.

iamfedupwiththis · 18/05/2026 11:35

You're not a child
Even if someone has a spare ticket, they're not going with you, you're still on your own.

crumpet · 18/05/2026 11:39

I was sitting near someone who went on their own at the last two concerts I went to - Wolf Alic in Glasgow and a more classical performance at the Albert Hall, at every venue, for every kind of music, there will be people on their own. Just go and have a lovely time in memory of your relative.

CarbootJunction · 18/05/2026 12:15

Good lord. Are you after a free ticket?

AreYouShittingMe · 18/05/2026 12:21

Have you looked on Twickets? If someone is selling just one ticket they are likely to be sitting in the seat next to it.

EloElo48 · 18/05/2026 12:21

CarbootJunction · 18/05/2026 12:15

Good lord. Are you after a free ticket?

Absolutely not lol! I have already said I would pay plus any additional costs if necessary

OP posts:
shellyleppard · 18/05/2026 12:23

Sorry for your loss. Could twickets (ticket resale site) have anything? Or do the venue have a resale or waiting list in case of any cancellations?

BrassOlive · 18/05/2026 12:29

Anyone with a spare ticket will likely be selling it on Twickets or similar, but they won't be expecting you to hang out with them during the show, that's not really how it works.

Going to a gig on your own is one of life's great treats, try it!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/05/2026 12:39

Just buy a ticket from the website and go by yourself?

EloElo48 · 18/05/2026 13:38

Thank you all for your encouragement and support, I’ve just booked a single ticket and ordered an uber!
I’m used to going places I’m familiar with but I’ve never been to an event/concert on my own before.
Really looking forward to it and know my relative will be there in spirit!

It's the Halle, at the Bridgewater Hall. Manchester.

Clearly not, as per her first post.

Hope you have a lovely time, and that it helps you reflect on your relative's life.
I love ELO's music, and it should be a wonderful concert. It can be daunting going to stuff on your own, but I'm glad you've plucked up the courage to do it. 😊 💐

Have a fantastic time! We played ELO on repeat at the end of the night at parties in my student house in the 70s & 80s. Wonderful!!

Shinyhappyapple · 18/05/2026 20:01

We saw Jeff Lynn’s ELO in concert last summer, mainly because DH wanted to go. I had forgotten how many songs they did which were big hits and I actually knew. Really enjoyed it.

Hope you have a good time.

MissDixieVoom · Yesterday 00:14

Have an amazing time. I go to loads of concerts in my own, and have never felt awkward or lonely at them .

Tarkan · Yesterday 02:46

Have an amazing time! I gig on my own a lot and I love it. Plus Mr Blue Sky is one of my “happy” songs (weirdly I literally was just listening to it about 5 minutes ago!) I think going is a really nice tribute to your late relative. 🥰

awfulapril · Yesterday 02:55

Go by yourself I don't see the problem

twilightcafe · Yesterday 07:19

You'll have a fabulous time. Enjoy!

Once the lights go down and the concert starts, it won't matter that you went on your own.
