Not at all unreasonable. Mine was off for parts of April, and on low twice a day, otherwise. I bumped it up the others evening, the house was cold!

But you've absolutely done the right thing by asking Mumsnet first.

Imagine just walking up to the boiler and switching the heating on without running it by complete strangers first.

If it's cold, and YOU are cold, then put the heating on! That's what it's for. You don't need permission from Mumsnet!

Really want to but am resisting. We have had the aircon (does heat as well as cold) on in the bedroom for a few minutes before bed the last few nights though!

Heating comes on when it gets cold, goes off when it gets warm. I don't turn it off.

Haven't turned ours off yet. It's on a thermostat so doesn't come on on warm days. Definitely needed today.

We nearly put our woodburner on earlier.

Blimey, you must be living in a balmy area! Mines been on every evening for ages... Only stopped lighting it after lunch about two weeks ago... Just to give the central heating a rest of course...

This is us too, if it is cold in May, the heating comes on. The indoor temperature decides it, we do all wear hoodies/sweatshirts. Luckily our house retains the heat well following a thorough investigation with a thermal camera a few winters ago.

I’ve never got this don’t put the heating on based on what month it is, if you’re cold put the heating on. Obvs I’d make sure I was dressed properly and not sat in t shirt and shorts.

I’ve got my heating on tonight as I’m cold. I’ve got a dressing gown on over my pjs and a blanket over my bottom half but still felt cold so on the heating goes.
