To update those that commented on my husband being an asshole about my ear infection post last night…

Just to update you all who were so lovely last night - I was even worse overnight so called 111, they said to wait to GP appt this morning.

At the appointment GP did my vitals, checked my ear (which is now fully closed shut) and advised me to go straight to A&E to get IV antibiotics.

Still waiting as need to be assessed by ENT but they are taking great care of me. Decent pain relief, have fed me and going very regular obs. They’ve also done swabs to see what infection we are dealing with.

People moan about the NHS but honestly, I cannot fault the treatment I’ve had, even if it is taking a bit longer to be properly admitted than I thought.

Husband hasn’t said anything much, just keeps texting to ask if I’m on a ward yet and then says I can’t be that ill if I’m still waiting 🙄 clearly doesn’t grasp the concept of A&E, if there are sicker people before me then quite clearly and reasonably they will be dealt with first

I didn’t see your last post but wanted to send you healing wishes. Ear pain is awful and I’m sorry your husband was unsupportive. Really hope it gets better for you x

Me too. DH sometimes gets ear infections, his gp prescribed him antibiotics so he’s got them available if he gets an attack. Apart from the pain, apparently eat infections can be very serious - they’re not something to dismiss or ‘grin and bear’.

I hope you are feeling better very soon. In a few weeks when you are feeling a bit stronger, perhaps start noticing your husband’s behaviour when things are “normal”. Is it really out of character for him to be selfish like this, or is he just good at hiding it when you’re holding up the family?

I’m glad you are getting treatment and fingers crossed the pain reduces soon.
When you are better I would advise you really reflect on whether to stay in this relationship. From what you’ve written he seems very uncaring when he should be really concerned. If something very serious happens to you are you confident that this man will be by your side? You deserve more.

There's ear aches that are sore to painful, that you can think are quite bad.

Then there's earaches! Fucking bastard earaches where paracetamol and ibuprofen barely touch the sides. (And I got more sympathy of a homeless stranger in walk in centre than ex. ) Obviously DH (dickhead) doesn't know what he is talking about.

Whilst you’re in hospital, can you get surgery to remove the 100kg of arsehole? It will greatly improve your quality of life in future.
