The last thing this country needs is a new Prime Minster

I can’t believe what I’m hearing - we don’t need a new Prime Minster. Labour backbenchers have shown who they are. Their actions are going to affect the markets and possibly cause more damage to this country. Why can’t they focus on us - the public. Deeply dismayed that they are so out of touch with the public and are being self serving not thinking of the country’s interest.

What chaos? And why are you pleased Starmer is toast? Id like to hear what people think has been so awful because the way people talk you'd think Keir Starmer was drowning kitten daily?

Unfortunately he isn’t toast yet. You’d think he wouldn’t want to hang on if he is so despised.

He's thinking of the actual country and public rather than showboating.

More likely he couldn’t face the shame of resigning

RufustheFactualReindeer · 12/05/2026 13:24

Nothing shameful about resigning

Nothing shameful about resigning

But the reasons for it are!

He’s done nothing.

He has u turned on pretty much every policy he’s suggested.

He has a massive parliamentary majority and he’s incapable of passing legislation.

He has no vision. No plan. No ability to communicate. No principles and no apparent values.

He's a cypher of nothingness

He's utterly useless.

Who are you comparing him to?

keepswimming38 · 12/05/2026 13:38

Agreed. This reactionary’off with his head’ mentality belongs in the Middle Ages!

Portakalkedi · 12/05/2026 13:41

Agree, a general election would be better. Labour have proved beyond doubt how hopeless they are, no matter who the leader is.

IAmBeaIDrinkTea · 12/05/2026 13:43

ProudAmberTurtle · 11/05/2026 20:23

Labour have shown they're not fit to govern.

On X at the moment it's Labour MP after Labour MP blurting out what this country needs to do, from rejoining the EU to trans rights.

These are a bunch of clowns.

We need a general election - and we need it now.

It doesn't work like that! You can't just go "General
Election now!" because you don't like the party in power, for goodness sake.
It's called democracy. Labour won whether you like it or not.

Look at what Starmer did today - told his cabinet that he wouldn't discuss his leadership but they could come to him privately afterwards, then left before any of them were allowed to approach him!

Nanda66 · 12/05/2026 13:49

I would like to see a conviction politician as a leader. One who makes a decision and sticks by it because they think it’s the right thing to do rather than one who changes their mind in order to be popular. We haven’t had that for a long time.

That being said, I don’t want Starmer to resign. We need stability and I don’t see anyone better.

keepswimming38 · 12/05/2026 13:52

@IAmBeaIDrinkTeayou mean clowns as in the Reform councillors that have been elected and lasted 1-2 days costing the tax payers more money. Or the Reform councillor that rocked up at the Houses of Parliament saying she couldn’t wait to start! These are the real clowns!

He's actually done a fair bit in the relatively short time he's been in power. Strengthened employee rights, strengthen animal welfare, has pushed forward with water regulation reforms, made strides towards ending child poverty and has done a Stirling job on the world stage.

I think he's doing a great job.

I like that he's been firm and refused to resign. Quite rightly. It's not in the countries interest and what good is a less qualified labour MP? We aren't going to have a general election however much you bleat on about it.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 12/05/2026 14:52

I didn’t vote Labour but don’t want them to fail because it makes Reform stronger. If there was anyone who was less useless than Starmer then I would say resign and let the party restabilise. There’s a fine line between staying for stability and clinging in as a lame duck

LittleBearPad · 12/05/2026 16:02

Pedallleur · 12/05/2026 13:35

What a PM should be.

We’ve had a pretty poor run recently.

Ultimately we will. The country cannot continue with these clowns in charge.

And it's not just the political mess - the UK economy is not having a good day either.

Boomer55 · 12/05/2026 16:34

The rebellion has faded and died. On we go.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 12/05/2026 17:23

they never did???!!!! 😳

HeadofAudiology · 12/05/2026 17:35

The second from last thing we need is a new PM. The last thing we need is much more of the useless cunt of a PM we've got at the moment.

Unfortunately, ghastly as he is, there doesn't seem to be anyone in the current government who would be much better.

Wes Streeting is probably the best of a dismally woful bunch.

Pedallleur · 12/05/2026 17:39

It's not as tho the Tories have got some great people in the wings. Kemi appears to be their best.

LittleBearPad · 12/05/2026 16:02

We’ve had a pretty poor run recently.

Everybody would have a different candidate. Thatcher polarised opinion massivel and even her Cabinet got rid of her. Blair/Brown was criticised and the Tories had the crazy run of PMs.

Bringemout · 12/05/2026 17:43

Need a new government really.
