To think Keir Starmer might resign tomorrow (Monday)

Viviennemary · 10/05/2026 22:04

I think he might. But who knows. He must know he can't possibly stay until the next General Election. It's very disrespectful to the electorate to not listen.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 10/05/2026 22:25

I hope he doesn’t

just cos the tories switched out leaders like bits of lego doesn’t mean that Labour has to

punkhairbrush · 10/05/2026 22:25

i would rather some of the back benchers who obviously aren’t reading the room, would piss off out of Labour!

BIWI · 10/05/2026 22:25

Aweekoffwork · 10/05/2026 22:15

Another idiot will take his place such as our friend, Angela

You may not like him or his politics, but I think it's a bit stupid to call him ridiculous.

FinchiePink · 10/05/2026 22:27

Are we going to have one of these threads every day until 2029?

First he was going to resign on Friday. Then Saturday. Then today. Now tomorrow.

Are these threads going to be posted at a regularly scheduled time or is it going to be ad hoc?

cardibach · 10/05/2026 22:22

How can you be both stubborn and flip flop?
This is media driven nonsense.

Schrodinger's Prime Minister.

Perhaps he stubbornly refuses to do anything other than flip-flop even when his original decision remains viable?

Flowersdie · 10/05/2026 22:27

I hope not. I think we need a prime minister for longer than the hot minute we’ve had over recent years. He’s barely been in power long. Some good things are happening.

it would be easier for him to go but I genuinely thinks he believes it isn’t the right thing to do. My ex husband used to work closely with him and he is a good, honest and intelligent man. Good luck to him

echt · 10/05/2026 22:28

With all his limitations, he's the only grown-up in the room.

Fuck. I've just seen who the OP is.

What step down from his responsibilities

Dedicated PM’s do not walk away just because they are not popular

Yeah this

Sorry, he just hasn't done enough wrong imo to step down

Even Peter mandolson (sp)

Boris wouldn't even have been asked about him during his tenure 🙄🙄

ApplebyArrows · 10/05/2026 22:35

Any leadership challenges are pathetic and self-serving. None of the others are going to do any better and the country would be much better off with a government focused on actually governing. People got sick of the Conservatives constantly changing leader and this lot aren't going to be received any differently.

MNLurker1345 · 10/05/2026 22:37

Hope so! Is this wishful thinking? Yes he might, but then he might make a U turn. No he won’t but then he might make U turn!

The tension is palpable!

PullTheBricksDown · 10/05/2026 22:38

So glad you posted this thread! We haven't had one for almost seven minutes!

Well it is a topical subject. Nothing else on the news at all. There you heard from me again.

Can the people who are OBSESSED with Keir Starmer tell me why they want him to resign?

Aside from the same meaningless “will of the people” nonsense, it seems to be connected to just an endless desire for drama.

No politician or political party has all the answers. None of them have a magic wand they can wave. The problems we have are numerous, complex, and there are no easy solutions.

I agree he’s a disappointment, seems to have no vision whatsoever, and is politically inept. However, a lot of people need to grow up.

OneTealShaker · 10/05/2026 22:45

He won’t resign. Yet. But he’s a dead man walking.

He’s a brainless pen pusher with no ideas, conviction or imagination. It’s all about process and technicalities, and it turns out he’s not even good at that after his mate Mandy exposed him.

But…..there’s no one to replace him. Just think about that. The guy is so incompetent and useless but there is still no one to replace him. Except for Ange, who apparently got so drunk in the House of Commons last week that she crashed into a door and broke it. I mean she’s an absolute disgrace and joke. As well as a tax fraud. M And she’s being touted as the next PM. What the hell is happening to this country.

I think so.

I think people are becoming addicted to the idea that changing PM every 5 minutes is a reasonable way to carry on. Apart from anything else it’s so exhausting. It’s exhausting enough hearing about Trump and US politics all the time. We can’t carry on living in a perpetual political psycho drama. I’ve no faith that if anyone else takes over from any party or anywhere else for that matter people wouldn’t be saying the same pretty much from the off.

Drew you right in, though. Didn’t it. You came running so fast to comment that you nearly tripped.

The only way that man will leave is if they do a vote of no confidence. I don’t understand the in and outs of politics so I’m not sure if he could even refuse after that point as well. He won’t leave without a fight. He’s a lawyer, they don’t quit unfortunately.

He could refuse. Corbyn lost a VONC in 2016, but didn't go anywhere IIRC.

Don't believe everything the Mail tells you.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 10/05/2026 22:50

I think he will be pushed not leave on his own but I think it’s soon for sure.

Isthisacondition · 10/05/2026 22:50

Is it him per se or all of them ? They should all go.
I've just read Angela Raynor's statement, she mentions raising the nmw again to get young people working.

Doesn't that say it all?

Because we are not labour supporters. That is the most obvious reason.

@OneTealShaker I hope she paid for it ??

Surely he is listening to the electorate? 22 months ago he was voted in for 5 years, by the electorate! Or does that mean we can now reverse Brexit because people have changed their minds? Hopefully!
