To have reported this Vinted listing

Slightly tongue in cheek

I found a beautiful nobody’s child dress on Vinted. £17 and listed as brand new with tags, but in the description it was stated that they had taken the tags off, worn it once, changed her mind and put the tags back on.

I made an offer of £12, because I felt that was reasonable given that the dress had been worn and tags reattached. She sent me back a message basically calling me cheap and saying the dress had cost her £70 new so why should she sell it for such a low price?

To be honest I was going to leave it until she started sending rude messages, so I reported it to Vinted. It looks like the listing and account have now been taken down. I feel a bit petty, but AIBU to have done this?

It wasn’t the message that I reported, it was the incorrect listing
Haha, there are so many incorrect listings on Vinted. The number of listings stating a trendy brand when it's an item from Tesco!

It sounds you reported her because you were annoyed she didn't accept your very low offer for something you really wanted.

IwanttoWFH · 10/05/2026 17:45

I’m surprised they took it down. I’ve reported two listings where:

  1. she listed a pair of trousers as new without tags. Multiple pictures of her wearing them in lots of different locations. The listing stated they were “vintage and had been altered”.

  2. a pair of shoes with scuffed soles and toe crease marks listed as “new without tags” and the description said “worn once”.

Vinted said there was “insufficient evidence to take action”.

It’s really irritating, so you are not being unreasonable there.

I do think offering £12 for a £17 item is unreasonable though. Maybe £15 would be acceptable. I hate being low-balled. I always list my items at a reasonable price. I ignore all the low-ball offers.

I was annoyed she was rude to me. I’ve now found the same item (different seller!), selling it for half the price but it’s genuinely brand new with tags

You say petty, I’d probably say pathetic… but I wouldn’t want you to report me 😂

It is so annoying when people say things are new with tags and they aren’t. I’ve reported listings like that.

No I think you didn't do anything wrong. I often use Vinted and often make offers. Quite often the buyer will meet half way with the price.
She shouldn't have been rude - you get ratings fir the way you conduct yourself in the transaction. Even if she thought the offer was cheeky she should have just ignored it.

Im surprised she bothered responding. I’d have given a counter-offer of £15 or so then moved on. Her BNWT was misleading but she did explain in the text, most just pretend it’s genuinely BNWT.

I’ve been selling a lot on Vinted though and got a bit jaded with buyers. People trying to reduce an £8 silk top to £5. Someone trying to return a £10 jacket for which I had listed all the measurements and made clear it was vintage so not a ‘modern’ size 12, and they wanted to return it as it didn’t fit. Thank god my clear out is complete and I don’t have to deal with anyone any more!

How does it work with Vinted. If the item doesn't fit or suit you are you able to return the item or is it only if it doesn't match the description?

No, you can’t return it unless there is something wrong with it or the description was misleading. You can ask the seller and they might take it back, but generally you have to resell if yourself or give it to a charity shop. It’s always a bit of a risk buying stuff, so I tend to keep it under £20 unless it’s an item I already have and know fits, but want it in a different colour as well.

PixieMcGraw · Yesterday 19:24

Lots of sellers now use AI to generate photos of the item being worn. Vinted allows this.
I hate Vinted. Sellers selling crap and buyers wanting designer dresses for pennies.

Sorrynotsorry22 · Yesterday 19:44

You've gotta laugh with vinted you ask £6 for a £40 tshirt rather than bin or donate.
They counter offer £4 and then quibble for an extra 50p off!

MidnightMeltdown · Yesterday 20:05

I think you were both wrong tbh

Asking for a 30% discount is a bit dickish, but it doesn’t justify her response. I would’ve just ignored the offer.

ForeverTheOptomist · Yesterday 20:20

Wingedharpy · 10/05/2026 00:17

Is that not how it works though @Blueeberry ?
The seller, surely, is at liberty to ignore the offer and hold out for her asking price.
I've never used Vinted so am genuinely curious.

I think it is rude. The seller should not have continue to hassle her potential buyer.

Kizmet1 · Yesterday 20:41

No, she's in the wrong. £17 isn't necessarily a bad price at all, but if an item has been worn then it isn't fair to list it as BNWT even if you later note that it isn't actually.

BringBackCatsEyes · Yesterday 20:45

It drives me mad.
DS is looking for a car on Autotrader. It seems sellers can pay to get their car listed in any search. So you filter for <£3000 and still get a bunch of cars for £9000. Waste of time.
It makes site and filtering unusable.
Amazon is essentially unusually for browsing these days due to sponsored ads and whatever shite manages to find its way to the top.

ButterYellowFlowers · Yesterday 20:48

No it’s fine. I reported someone who sold me a large item, including £9 shipping fee. They then told me I’d have to come and collect it from them… 2 hours away and I don’t drive and I’d already paid shipping. When I told them no and asked them to courier as agreed and price set by them they refused but also wouldn’t cancel the order.

Maddness.

I frequently offer 60% and it’s often accepted

No, for her listing being misleading and her listing something as brand new when it’s not

This annoys me too. The amount of listings I see which say 'New Without Tags', but then in the description it says 'only worn once'.

It’s just kind of gross. I don’t mind buying used, but I want to be aware it’s used

£17 for a nobody's child dress is a completed bargin. chances are it is relisted, but that she's blocked you.

Depends on the dress. There are hundreds of NC on Vinted and a lot of the same ones crop up over and over again because they either fit weirdly or are too tight for the size label etc.

Vinted allows you to offer 40% less than the listing price, I just put a slightly higher price when I list to factor in offers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Blueeberry · 10/05/2026 00:09

Offering £12 for an already cheaply priced dress is very rude - I wouldn’t want you as a buyer!

That's not "rude".. if the offer isn't acceptable then the seller just declines.. then the person decides whether to up their offer. And the seller decides whether to accept or decline again. This is usual standard and accepted behaviour on Vinted. No normal seller resorts to abuse 🤷‍♀️. You response is a little strange. Are you the seller of the Nobody's Child dress?? 😆

Restlessdreams1994 · Yesterday 21:48

She probably just blocked you and that’s why you can’t see it. I block people who make ridiculously low offers because I just can’t be bothered arguing with them.

rwalker · Yesterday 21:52

Sounds like seller listed wrong but explained fully in text so not trying to mislead anyone

£12 is a cheeky offer for £70 dress
