To have reported this Vinted listing

Slightly tongue in cheek

I found a beautiful nobody’s child dress on Vinted. £17 and listed as brand new with tags, but in the description it was stated that they had taken the tags off, worn it once, changed her mind and put the tags back on.

I made an offer of £12, because I felt that was reasonable given that the dress had been worn and tags reattached. She sent me back a message basically calling me cheap and saying the dress had cost her £70 new so why should she sell it for such a low price?

To be honest I was going to leave it until she started sending rude messages, so I reported it to Vinted. It looks like the listing and account have now been taken down. I feel a bit petty, but AIBU to have done this?

You know you can block them don’t you? Block and move on.

YANBU at all.

They’ve pretty much listed this under false pretences if they have said NWT and they’ve worn it - should be up as “very good” condition.

Also, all’s fair in love and offers on vinted. If you don’t want to accept an offer just reject it! They shouldn’t be sending you rude messages just for making an offer.

I’ve only once made a very low offer on an item - it had been up there forever and tbh was never going to sell at the price they want - it’s still up there now! They didn’t like my offer so they put up the price, which I found funny tbh.

Totally agree!

But if I'm understanding it correctly, it's clarified in the text!

So people who search for ‘new with tags’ because they actually want new with tags will have the results clogged up with this kind of dross. Hopefully a few people will needlessly waste your time this week too.

Seller will not have been banned for this and I’m sure the item is back up and correctly described. Hope she gets full asking price 😊 pro seller here and buyers like you are a joy

The item isn’t back up 😂 sellers like you are the worst, just be truthful about your items and don’t sell it if you’re so sentimental that you can’t take being given an offer

The problem is there is either new with tag or new with some imperfections. Hers was somewhere in between.

What you stated she wrote wasn't rude. It was true. How did you respond?

But the item isn’t new with tags so you list it as good. I just ignored her because there’s absolutely no need to be rude!

Why? You’re not selling new from a shop, you’re selling on the second hand market and people will offer what they think it’s worth

Yet, those same people can just keep scrolling then if they think it is too much.

It goes both ways even more so if it is a new item.

It comes off to me that people who put in such low offers think the seller is desperate to sell that they’ll just take whatever or just trying their luck (which I get), but I do block them if I go into their listings and they have things way more expensive than mine in worse condition and are choosing to lowball me.

Sellers like me… interesting take on the matter a 5 star pro seller, I certainly don’t lie about my large amount of items I sell, that would surely reflect on my feedback score?

ohhh maybe they have sold it on eBay or Depop.

As previously mentioned they would not have been banned for this but you seem to hell bent on a ‘win’ against this seller when they will not have given you a 2nd thought 😂😂😂

MummyWillow1 · 10/05/2026 11:21

Blueeberry · 10/05/2026 00:09

Offering £12 for an already cheaply priced dress is very rude - I wouldn’t want you as a buyer!

Fair enough, but no need to even respond! Just decline and wait for the next offer.

No, for her listing being misleading and her listing something as brand new when it’s not

I see so many listings that contradict themselves...like stuff claiming to be a brand it isn't. Reporting doesn't always help

Edited

I offer what I’m willing to pay 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s not the end of the world

It isn’t, doesn’t make it any less annoying from the seller’s point of view, not much different than you being annoyed by this seller for their actions.

Newmeagain · 10/05/2026 12:43

I often buy on Vinted and this kind of thing is an immediate red flag for me - if someone lists a used item as new then that tells me everything I need to know about that seller.

you can tell a lot from how items have been described.

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/05/2026 12:52

funksoulbrothers · 10/05/2026 01:00

Well it is misleading. It’s tagged as being “brand new with tags”, when it isn’t.

You’re being quite the hypocrite here. You had no problem with it being labelled misleadingly when you made your offer of £12. It was only when she declined and was rude to you that you decided to report it.

icepop2 · 10/05/2026 13:03

I'm not sure she's cut out for Vinted. First she calls it brand new when she's worn it and then she's rude when someone makes an offer. You did the right thing OP, I hate dealing with crappy, misleading sellers. I bought an old Casio keyboard for a good price for DS on ebay and the seller refused to honor it - tried to tell me she couldn't sell it at that price as it was 'vintage'.

awayhay · 10/05/2026 13:19

She was a dick, but I wouldn’t have reported her For being misleading. Maybe you could’ve reported her for being rude though.

Sounds like she stated quite clearly that it had been worn once, which I know doesn’t make it brand new but it’s close to brand new.

Viviennemary · 10/05/2026 13:22

That's why I wouldn't buy on vinted. I don't want silly spats with vindictive petty strangers.

MsAmerica · 10/05/2026 02:38

But if I'm understanding it correctly, it's clarified in the text!

That’s irrelevant. She deliberately chose to select the wrong condition. That is misleading and against the rules. If it was only worn once and not stained or damaged then she should have selected “very good” as the condition.

Passaggressfedup · 10/05/2026 13:26

She wasn't rude. She told you you were taking the piss which is a fact. It's no big deal. She definitely wouldn't have been band for messaging what you said.

How is that not rude? wtf? She didn’t need to reply at all. If she didn’t want to sell it to her she could’ve just blocked her. No need for any message at all. I’m guessing you’re rude like her too.

Mammut · 10/05/2026 13:39

MeAndMyGhost · 10/05/2026 03:11

I don't understand why some sellers get so prickly when you put in an offer they don't like - they don't have to accept it. So weird.

Me too. I often put in low offers and sometimes they are accepted. I don’t take offence when I get a low offer for something I’ve listed. I either ignore, accept, decline or counter offer. It’s not personal, just people trying to get a bargain.

No, when it happens, I don't do anything. I don't even bother to tick the decline button. But I don't think it rude to the extent of needing to report to tell someone they are being insulting by asking for a ridiculous price cut on an already very good deal.

Exactly! I sell a lot on there too and will pretty much take any offer going as I just want to get rid of it all. I’m not sentimental about it

It wasn’t the message that I reported, it was the incorrect listing

Everyone makes low offers on Vinted. Nobody has to accept an offer. Some are looking to resell and some just love getting it as cheap as possible. A low offer isn't a reflection on your personality, it's just how it works. Just accept what is acceptable to you.
