To have reported this Vinted listing

Slightly tongue in cheek

I found a beautiful nobody’s child dress on Vinted. £17 and listed as brand new with tags, but in the description it was stated that they had taken the tags off, worn it once, changed her mind and put the tags back on.

I made an offer of £12, because I felt that was reasonable given that the dress had been worn and tags reattached. She sent me back a message basically calling me cheap and saying the dress had cost her £70 new so why should she sell it for such a low price?

To be honest I was going to leave it until she started sending rude messages, so I reported it to Vinted. It looks like the listing and account have now been taken down. I feel a bit petty, but AIBU to have done this?

Offering £12 for an already cheaply priced dress is very rude - I wouldn’t want you as a buyer!

If you dont ask you dont get. The seller could have just politely declined.
No need for a abuse

Londonrach1 · 10/05/2026 07:44

She's blocked you which is why you can't see her account

That's how Vinted works. I price slightly higher to leave room for offers. I can then either decline, accept or counter offer, no point in getting angry and rude over it. I would probably just block the person if they were being rude rather than try and get one over though.

magikarpediem · 10/05/2026 08:10

Vinted is a strange place. I ignore offers that I think are unreasonable or silly

i was looking at a hoodie the other day listed as never been worn. She was wearing it in the picture……

Life is too short for this. You were being a cheapskate she was an arse. Laugh and move on triumphing on petty victories against imaginary opponents won't make you happy

I don’t think I was being a cheapskate 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not going to pay £17 for a worn item!

This is an odd take, how is it rude? It’s a barter site. People seem to think their clothes are still worth store prices after being worn. They’re only worth what someone’s willing to pay! And once you’ve added fees and postage it tots up.

But I agree with you OP, although I’ve never bothered to report someone for it. There are so many posts now like that. I don’t even care that it’s been worn, but they want to charge a premium for BNWT when the item has clearly been worn.

Jackiepumpkinhead · 10/05/2026 08:27

You are not being unreasonable but I doubt Vinted will do anything. People always state things are new ‘only worn a couple of times’ or in excellent condition when they are covered in bobbles and faded. I’ve reported sellers and apparently they haven’t broken any terms of use 🙄 when they obviously have.

Vivienne1000 · 10/05/2026 08:28

I have had quite a few items described as brand new, never worn and it is very obvious they have been worn. The latest was a pair of Reiss trousers which had mud around the hems.
Boden have labels attached with string. It’s easy for people to reattach the labels after wearing.
But you also get gorgeous things which are obviously brand new and look great. On the whole I have positive experiences, but share your frustration.
I sent the seller a picture of the hems and got £10 off.

No, for her listing being misleading and her listing something as brand new when it’s not

Everyone on Vinted does that. It will
say new and on the description it will say worn only once. I never trust anything that says new on there

Was it being worn specifically for the photo?
Or was she out and about wearing it?! Because I think the first would be okay to model it (I never do this by the way 😂) but the second is clearly just wearing it and trying to get away with it!

I was just annoyed because it would have been perfect for a wedding I am going to, but I wasn’t going to spend £17 for it when the seller is a liar!

I decided to sell some designer stuff very cheaply because I just wanted to get rid of them. Half of the items went right away at asking price, however, I'm amazed at the gall of some people who right away offered a 20% or more reduction.

I just ignore them. I assume they do it every time and I doubt they get many positive responses.

You tried it, she laughed and got a buyer who thought it was worth the asking price. If you wanted it so much, you wouldn't have taken the chance.

asdbaybeeee · 10/05/2026 08:53

Some people think the price reflects how good the condition is. I bought a dress for £2 that was “very good” but when it arrived it was unwearable as it had an iron mark on it. When I mentioned in review it shouldn’t have been listed as very good the woman said what did you expect for £2??!!!

Screamingabdabz · 10/05/2026 08:58

I’ve bought two dresses this week supposedly new with tags, but you can tell they’ve been worn. They are Boden so tie on tags that are easy to take off and put back on again. It’s horrible feeling duped.

I’ve often seen NWT things on Vinted that say ‘only worn once’ but that’s not new imo, I agree with you op, it’s annoying. The fact that she was abusive is another level.

Maybe there should be a new category - ‘only worn once’.

Justwonderingifthisisnormal · 10/05/2026 09:01

Forget what she was selling for (open offer btw) and what you were willing to pay. The seller is absolutely BU and was very rude. All seller (and buyers) have a rating system. I can't for the life of me think of what they were trying to achieve here. In other words, don't second guess yourself!

She didn’t get a buyer who paid what she wanted. It’s been taken down, Vinted have confirmed that they’ve taken action.

Why? You’re not selling new from a shop, you’re selling on the second hand market and people will offer what they think it’s worth

OP posts:
InterestingDuck · 10/05/2026 09:19

If it's been worn once, it's not 'brand new'.

I think your offer was a bit low, but all the seller had to do is decline it - that's how it works, haggling is to be expected.

It was indoors so probably only for the listing, but even so, it’s not never worn if you’ve worn it in any capacity 😂 I’d prefer it on a hanger on the back of the door!

Passaggressfedup · 10/05/2026 09:37

And the price reflects that just as it did in your example. If it was unworn, it would realistically have been closer to at least 50% of the new price.

You are not Vinted auctioneer and don't get to decide what is a fair price. You went with a silly offer and lost out on an item you really wanted. That's how it works!

Exactly! Being rude to someone isn’t on and it’s ended up with her being unable to sell the item entirely 😂

OP posts:
Passaggressfedup · 10/05/2026 09:42

The problem is there is either new with tag or new with some imperfections. Hers was somewhere in between.

What you stated she wrote wasn't rude. It was true. How did you respond?

Exactly! And you've won because you've called her out and got vindicated on MN. I'm not sure what's exactly worse 🤔 🤣

havingoneofthosedays · 10/05/2026 09:47

Seller will not have been banned for this and I’m sure the item is back up and correctly described. Hope she gets full asking price 😊 pro seller here and buyers like you are a joy
