To name a view

wealth tax
Defending the human rights act
Drug legalisation
Public ownership of water, energy and transport
replacing first past the post with PR

How are local councils, even if they are majority Green going to implement any of this?

It's all built on lies and sand

JollyDenimSeal · 07/05/2026 17:57

I voted Green on the list today in Scotland. Very reluctantly. I'm not the biggest fan of Gillian McKay, if there had been a better alternative I would have gone for it

BTW. People shouting that people are anti semitic or racists - really aren't doing anyone any favours. It's possible to be supportive of Palestine without hating Jews.

People have the right to vote for who they want - without being branded nutters. Maybe if certain larger parties weren't doing such a shit job people wouldn't be turning to Greens in England (looking at you Labour).

I think Polanski is a bit of a popularity hunter but he's not alone in that in my view

I support Palestine. This does not make me anti semitic on any level - neither am I a racist.

Supporting a two state solution, being angre at a right wing government’s excesses against civilians are not anti semitic. However conflating Jews and Israel and subjecting them to anti semitic tropes and “globalise the intafada” is anti semitism.

When a party leader shows primary concern that the police were not nice enough to a terrorise carrying a knife and possibly an IED and then when he does post the required comment can only talk about “the attack” and avoid any mention of the victims being Jews and the attack being antisemitic then I think concerns about anti semitism from the Greens are fully justified. Its not an accident that most of the antisemites and loons kicked out of Labour went straight across to the Greens. Their predecessors did exactly the same when Kinnock kick Militant out of Labour - they all hot footed it across to the Greens/ecology party.

They have some great policies and I’m hopeful they’ll get young people out voting. Like many I support Palestine and detest the actions of Israel. This doesn’t make me antisemitic. There is a very clear smear campaign at play which is worrying.

SunnyAfternoonToday · 07/05/2026 17:23

Same here. It's interesting to see that some of Corbyn's old pals have joined the Greens recently. Whatever happened to Your Party I wonder 🤔

Zahra Sultana is still knocking around - she's currently having a Facebook spat with JK Rowling 🙄

nicepotoftea · 07/05/2026 18:02

GingerdeadMan · 07/05/2026 17:50

Don't be silly, we women should only want rights if it doesn't upset the men too much 🙄

I think Nigel and Zack share this opinion.

A smear campaign? So there haven't been multiple antisemitic comments made by their candidates?

Jesus, you must have been desperate. Scottish Greens are beyond lunacy. Even ZP can't be held responsible for them.

MulberryBrandy · 07/05/2026 18:03

glitterpaperchain · 07/05/2026 17:54

Agree! The Greens are the only viable party for me at this point, because they don't take corporate donations like the other parties. I think that shows their loyalty really lies with the people, while other parties will be looking to do favours for their corporate donors.

Plus I like that the Greens have a really holistic outlook on the issues, lots of joined up and long term thinking.

You won't get support here though as MN is very anti Green, the amount of complete misinformation I've seen on here!

That is interesting about corporate donors - I wonder who does give to them? I was surprised that Zack's offensive share of a post was on X. I didn't think he would approve of Elon?

I have zero interest in Polanski. I'm not a fan of him. I voted Greens on the list today in Scotland because there was no other pro indy alternative that appealed to me

There have been comments further up saying that everyone who votes Green is an anti semitic racist. I'm none of these things. I don't think generalisations like that serve anyone well

Got to be a troll post.

I think Nigel and Zack share this opinion.

Kemi Is definitely against women’s rights. She doesn’t agree with statutory maternity pay.

The Labour Party was founded in Trade Unionism to represent working class people, yet hasn't been identifiably Socialist since the 1970s. That didn't stop people handing them a thumping majority two years ago.

All political parties morph and change over time.

Except the Greens have morphed into antisemitic communists.

Wheresrebeccabunch · 07/05/2026 18:05

SunnyAfternoonToday · 07/05/2026 17:28

Support for the Palestinian people has fuck all to do with British elections especially local ones.

I didn’t say it did.
The OP was answering a follow up question about which Green policies she liked generally, and I added this one. HTH.

ruffler45 · 07/05/2026 18:07

How did he get elected as their leader in the first place?

"Green" issues dont seem to get mentioned much these days or is it just the colour they like?

MulberryBrandy · 07/05/2026 18:03

I doubt be approves of Elon but I imagine he wants to reach people, and many people are on X.

All party donations are available publicly online. Greens have a policy not to accept corporate donations whereas for example, other parties accept large donations from private healthcare companies, which makes me think the party will then be looking out for them, giving them contracts etc. I belive Green's largest donor to date is Vivienne Westwood.

I voted Plaid Cymru. Where does that place me on your intelligence scale?

I agree with all this OP, and his support for the Palestinian people too 💚

Right.
What about less fashionable causes? How about China’s hold on Tibet or its genocide of the Uyghur? What’s his plan to confront China?

Well you have voted for a party that seems to have a major problem with antisemitic, racist members.

The Greens are basically communists. They have no grasp of economic reality.

Oh and according to ZP today, no country has a right to exist, so good luck with your separatist fantasy.

BorgQueen · 07/05/2026 18:09

I voted Con to keep out the lunatic Greens.
My ideal vote would be SDP but they aren’t in my area.
I doubt I’ll ever vote Labour again.

SDP haven't existed in quite some time, so that's not surprising! 😄

As Caroline Lucas said, there are, sadly, anti-semites in every party. But it seems only left wing parties get the heat for it.

Helped by the tories imploding in a big way after battling Brexit and covid.

After 2 years Labour is now imploding big time so I reckon we are heading for years of coalition governments, heaven help us
