I have been reading the posts on this thread but I have not heard anyone explain how the Green Party is antisemitic. I know Polanski's reaction to the stabbings in Golders Green and about two women who were suspended that were running for the council. I do not know why so many feel that they are generally antisemitic?

Edited

There are many Green party members who have made hugely antisemitic posts on social media. The comments made are vile.

So you think what a politician says about himself is automatically the truth, and those who investigate his past and find something different are automatically liars? How naive!

Do you believe this about all politicians, or only the ones you like?

He says The Sun approached him and asked if he would do it for an article, he said he'd give it a try. He knew others that told him it could work. He said he thought he could use the article to get some press about how he'd rather people use hypnotherapy for body confidence, which he did. And he says he no longer believes hypnotherapy could increase breast size. Honestly yes I believe this version of events, mostly because I think the whole thing is a pretty minor incident.

I don't always believe politicians rather than media no, however at the moment the media is completely attacking him so I don't trust them to tell the truth about anything to do with Polanski at the moment. Some of the interviews I've seen recently are absolutely shocking and they should be ashamed to even claim to be journalists.

Do you know the reasons behind the policy though? It's about following what the research shows will have the most harm reduction.Focusing on rehabilitation rather than punitive justice is shown to reduce offending and reoffending rates. Decriminalising things like possession stops vulnerable people from being driven further towards criminal enterprises. Are these insane ideas?

There are currently lots of dangerous drugs which are legal and they are highly regulated. What do you think the policy will look like in reality?

I think areas of the country will resemble places like Kensington in the USA where people are openly taking hard drugs in public, children wont be able to play in parks, im sure there will be drug paraphernalia laying around, no doubt discarded needles and pipes. It will be a dystopia and a hell you cant even imagine, as an ex drug user I see the only way to win the war on drugs is to be incredibly hard-line on dealers and users im afraid, its to soft, they need punishing not appeasing

I'm not a racist. I'll repeat that. I have a Palestinian friend - asylum seeker who fled Scotland because he was so scared of being sent back to Palestine and being killed by the IDF. Don't you sit and tell me "it depends" when I've told you I'm not a racist. You know nothing about me. Thankfully you never will.

Does that extend to acknowledging that antisemitism is rife and that Israel has a right to exist?

Dollymylove · 07/05/2026 21:30

Open borders. Legalisation of drugs. Rampant anti semitism..

Thefastandthecurious5 · 07/05/2026 20:50

I agree. I like their policies in principles (welcoming refugees and immigrants, as per Zack Polanski’s conference speech last speech), and I think Hannah Spencer will be a good MP for Gorton and Denton, but their antisemitism is unacceptable, so for that, I will never vote for them.

Do you think that we can comfortably accommodate up to 5 million immigrants per year indefinitely, given the current dire pressures on our public services and benefits system with an existing unemployment figures of approx 5 million?

What do you think our max population should be? There are about 900 million people who will probably want to come here.

So you don't agree with all the research that shows rehabilitation is more effective than punitive action?

No, of course not, but you’re being deliberately misleading. Where did your figure of ‘5 million immigrants per year indefinitely’ come from?

Also, I was saying why I liked some of the Greens’ policies, Obviously, you don’t like that policy. That’s okay.

JuliettaCaeser · 07/05/2026 21:36

A relative has been involved with the greens for many years. She is a lovely lovely person but certifiably bonkers. I would not want her with any sort of power! So that affects my views on them!

And as I said it would depend if you are keen to see Hamas brought to book rather than just using it to slate Israel whether it is racist or not.
As you didn’t mention Hamas I guess that answers the question.

They absolutely are still focused on green issues. They are a socialist leaning party because many environmentalists argue that socialism is the way to tackle climate change. It is so frustrating to keep seeing people going 'well they don't talk about the environment anymore', it just shows complete ignorance on the subject.

We cannot tackle the climate crisis with our current system of barely regulated capitalism. We need a system change in order to tackle the climate, which is exactly what they are doing. It's completely in line with environmentalism. There's an interesting short book on the subject, Ecosocialism by Michael Löwy.

Also anyone calling him 'Dave' just shows they're completely acting in bad faith.

Indeed we need a change, but it can't be done by the UK alone. In fact it would be economic suicide for the UK to unilaterally change.

If we take net zero. The UK achieving net zero does precisely 1% over fuck all in effecting the environment. In the meantime we have the most expensive energy bills in Europe, whilst sitting on huge oil reserves. So ordinary Brits are struggling to heat their homes when Saudi Arabia is still selling oil and China is building coal fired power stations.

QueenBambi · 07/05/2026 21:43

I do honestly believe that happened. And I heard an interview yesterday on Radio 4's Today programme in which the interviewer mentioned it, and mentioned how Polanski had "confirmed" a few days later that it worked - and Polanski didn’t deny it, which he surely would have done if it wasn’t true.

He’s a con-man.

He’s off his tits.
Did you see what I did there.

What do you propose we do with the oil reserves when our refineries do not process that kind of oil? The Greens would rather aim for energy independence with green energy, sounds like a better idea to me.

You know what's going to create an awful lot more refugees? The climate crisis. And the war in Iran.

But I’ve never been a con-woman.

So you’re telling me he honestly thought hypnotherapy could increase a woman's breast size? That’s up there with David Lammy believing men can grow a cervix.

Could you link to them please? That’s the first I’ve heard of those documents.

I like the Grees’ pro-immigration and pro-refugee policies because I think we - like other peaceful countries- have a moral duty to help refugees and our economy also depends on immigration (and I think a diverse society with immigrants is also a healthy one).
