I support Palestine. This does not make me anti semitic on any level - neither am I a racist.

Well that would depend if you are as keen to see Hamas brought to book rather than just using it to slate Israel. One is being concerned for the people of Gaza the other is racist.

I don't believe they discussed it.

No I bet they didn't

Jesus. I swear some people in Mumsnet are so blinkered about trans issues that they have lost the ability for critical thinking. “He said woman can have a penis therefore he hates women!”

As a previous poster said, I believe Zack to be an ardent feminist and I trust him to stick up for women’s rights more than any other party.

It’s not about ‘trans issues’. It’s about protecting girls and women from male violence.

Good Lord if you don’t even understand the debate you can’t possibly be assured that the Greens will ‘stick up for women’s rights’.

They won’t, so thanks for that… selling us all down the Swanee river with your vote. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

To name a view

wealth tax
Defending the human rights act
Drug legalisation
Public ownership of water, energy and transport
replacing first past the post with PR

Why would you replace first past the post when the country voted to retain it?

Do you not believe in the Democratic will of the people?

Basic women's rights won over the last century:

Protection from unlawful discrimination on the basis of sex.
Rights to specific sex based provisions in some situations.

Please explain how these can be protected, provided or reviewed if sex cannot be defined.

Didn't that vote happen 15 years ago?

YABU. They are anti-Semitic, and that's just the worst of their many faults.

I agree. I like their policies in principles (welcoming refugees and immigrants, as per Zack Polanski’s conference speech last speech), and I think Hannah Spencer will be a good MP for Gorton and Denton, but their antisemitism is unacceptable, so for that, I will never vote for them.

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 07/05/2026 20:52

Humdingerydoo · 07/05/2026 18:33

It feels like a lot of people are condoning the antisemitism in the Green party by voting for them "because Palestine".

You aren't an antisemite for being a supporter of a two state solution. You are an antisemite if you agree with various antisemitic posts made by members of the Green party you voted for. You are an antisemite if you keep pretending antisemitism isn't an issue and that Jewish people deserve what's coming "because Palestine".

This.
But people like to claim their wholesomeness rather than admit their racist views.

A concern for women’s rights, safety and dignity is ‘dramatic’ and ‘bonkers’? Ok then. 🙄

HoldMyWine · 07/05/2026 21:00

glitterpaperchain · 07/05/2026 18:56

Do you know the reasons behind the policy though? It's about following what the research shows will have the most harm reduction.Focusing on rehabilitation rather than punitive justice is shown to reduce offending and reoffending rates. Decriminalising things like possession stops vulnerable people from being driven further towards criminal enterprises. Are these insane ideas?

There are currently lots of dangerous drugs which are legal and they are highly regulated. What do you think the policy will look like in reality?

You might want to visit downtown LA and see how that has worked out

JollyDenimSeal · 07/05/2026 21:02

Personally. I cant be arsed with all the if you vote for this party you are this and that. I voted Labour all my life until 2010 and then I voted snp. Did I agree with all the snp policies. No. I'm no longer a party member and my mum left years ago

It's completely possible to vote for a party and not believe in everything they stand for - or no one would ever vote!!

What I'm trying to ask is, is it a hard line in the sand for you?

Personally, though many will disagree because of his opinions on trans people, I think women's rights are safest with Greens and Zack Polanski. Generally Greens are the most progressive, accepting, inclusive party in terms of ideology. Polanski specifically I think has a good track record of working with, listening to, and platforming women. For example on his poscast he regularly has female guests and I like the way he treats them, never tries to talk for them. He recently had 2 women on to have a really interesting discussion on prison reform for women. So I think as a whole I feel confident with the Greens protecting women's rights.

I don’t actually believe he will be leading the Green Party for very long if they get into power. He too will be flushed out along with Women’s rights.

I'm not a racist. I'll repeat that. I have a Palestinian friend - asylum seeker who fled Scotland because he was so scared of being sent back to Palestine and being killed by the IDF. Don't you sit and tell me "it depends" when I've told you I'm not a racist. You know nothing about me. Thankfully you never will.

JollyDenimSeal · 07/05/2026 21:09

Don't fling the word racist around like it's going out of fashion. It actually devalues the experiences of people who DO experience racist hate.

Theonebutnotonly · 07/05/2026 21:10

glitterpaperchain · 07/05/2026 19:49

You think a man who told women he could make their breasts bigger by hypnosis

You don't honestly believe that happened? After he has explained what actually happened multiple times?

I do honestly believe that happened. And I heard an interview yesterday on Radio 4's Today programme in which the interviewer mentioned it, and mentioned how Polanski had "confirmed" a few days later that it worked - and Polanski didn’t deny it, which he surely would have done if it wasn’t true.

He’s a con-man.

I have been reading the posts on this thread but I have not heard anyone explain how the Green Party is antisemitic. I know Polanski's reaction to the stabbings in Golders Green and about two women who were suspended that were running for the council. I do not know why so many feel that they are generally antisemitic?

Ok so you're just judging by what the media says rather than what he actually says himself

So you think what a politician says about himself is automatically the truth, and those who investigate his past and find something different are automatically liars? How naive!

Do you believe this about all politicians, or only the ones you like?

Thefastandthecurious5 · 07/05/2026 21:24

I think you’ve answered your question in your post. I think having a pattern of a specific behaviour - as we’ve seen with the routinely antisemitic behaviour in the Greens that you’ve just described - shows they are generally antisemitic. Any incident is one too many, but a pattern is clear evidence there is a wider problem. Do you not feel the same?

For me, the worst thing was the local election candidate Sabine Mairey’s post, where she posted a video about attacking a synagogue. I thought that was absolutely disgusting.
