Me! I even took my very last diazepam which is usually a sure fire knock out and nope, still wide awake.
I’ve been up since 4am and I’m now at the stage of saying, if I fall asleep now I’ll get 3hrs sleep
its going to be a long night

Villanousvillans · 07/05/2026 02:16

I’ve not been asleep yet. I have horrendous insomnia, caused partly by restless legs and pain from arthritis. I’ve just started on Gabapentin but it’s doing nothing so far.

I’m sorry for anyone who can’t sleep, it’s horrible. 💔

Touty · 07/05/2026 02:58

Me too! I can’t sleep and at 3 am I’m not really tired. It’s getting worse, I’ve just had to take a nytol.

Villanousvillans · 07/05/2026 02:59

I’ve just taken a Zopiclone.

Penkie · 07/05/2026 03:05

This has to be the worst time of the night. Neither fully rested enough after a few hours sleep, nor tired enough to go back to sleep and get another few hours.

CloseEncountersOfTheLoveKind · 07/05/2026 03:11

I’m another member of the wide awake club…

it doesn’t help that I feel so hot.

Frustrating as I’ve shivered most of Wednesday 🤷‍♀️

To the poster that took Zopiclone, I’ve got them, but they give me awful after effects.

im gonna try to cool my feet down, as that sometimes helps, but no guarantees.

Hope you all get some shut-eye very soon.

Touty · 07/05/2026 03:15

I used to get zopiclone when I lived in Spain.
will the GP give them here?

Openmouthinsertfood · 07/05/2026 03:16

I take melatonin but it doesn't help me get to sleep, just makes me sleep a little longer when I do drop off. It's getting to sleep that is my problem mostly. I know it doesn't help the situaion but I'm so annoyed that yet again, it's gone 3am and I'm wide awake yet later on in the morning, like 11am I am so dog tired I can ahrdly stay awake. Hmph. 😡

Touty · 07/05/2026 03:20

Melatonin does nothing for me.

just so fed up of this.

idontknow202 · 07/05/2026 03:21

Me too tonight sadly. Being tired but not able to switch your brain off is awful. I have 300 things rushing around my head. Crappy times. Hope someone else gets off soon 🤞

Wordsmithery · 07/05/2026 03:21

Me too, and it's the same every single night. So very tedious.

Touty · 07/05/2026 03:27

Do you all have to go to work in the morning?

idontknow202 · 07/05/2026 03:38

Tomorrow is my first one hour back after nearly 2 months off caring for daughter. Probably isn't helping for me tonight!

Aww fingers crossed you can drop off soon x

KelpieQueen · 07/05/2026 03:40

I'm awake, too. I fall asleep easily enough but wake up 2-3 hours later and can't get back to sleep. I'll likely feel tired at about 5.30, fall asleep at about 6, and have to be up at 7, feeling as rough as a badger's arse. This has been going on for over thirteen years now. Bloody hate it.

Treviarpelli · 07/05/2026 03:44

I’m awake too, I can always get to sleep quite easily I just can’t stay asleep.
The menopause is what started it for me but it’s been years now, sometimes I go back to sleeep quite quickly but sometimes I can be awake for an hour or two- what helped me enormously was realising that I’m not actually that tired the day after a poor night - that took some of the anxiety away but it’s so dull

Eggmcmuffin · 07/05/2026 03:44

Sciatica pain here. No way to get comfortable without chopping my leg off. Work looms in a few hours 😪

ihavetocookagain · 07/05/2026 03:48

Been awake since 2.30, brain going into overdrive worrying about my kids exams!

ChocolateCinderToffee · 07/05/2026 03:51

Have just had a shower. Too tired at bed time then woke up feeling hot and itchy. Ten years post-menopause and still stuck with insomnia. How do you all manage to get meds? My doctor said he couldn’t offer me treatment for insomnia.

Rowgtfc72 · 07/05/2026 04:45

I've had years of this. I nod off no problem, out cold by half nine. Awake by 1am then see in every half hour.
I get up at 340am, bike 5 miles to work for a 6am start and do an 8 hr shift on my feet. I then have to bike home and take the dog out for a couple of miles.
I'm 54, doc says its the menopause and we're in the middle of getting a prescription for amitriptyline.
I seem to get one night of 2-3 hrs sleep, then another of 4ish.
Its soul destroying.

AllNightOwl · 07/05/2026 04:49

I sympathise with all here.

Managed to get almost 6 hours of sleep, last night, due to some kind of miracle.

Not sleeping all night, even if I'm not tired in the day afterwards, means the days are just so long.

Hope everyone is able to nap today or make it through with their favourite caffeinated beverage.

MinnieMountain · 07/05/2026 05:13

It seems I'm late to this one. Peri-menopause plus DH having knee surgery last week means I've got lots whirring round in my head at 3am. It's crap isn't it?

Joubert1 · 07/05/2026 06:04

Whatever you do, when you wake up in the early hours, don’t go on your phone! Read a book, listen to an audio

ihavetocookagain · 07/05/2026 08:14

My husband would hate me putting on a light to read, and earplugs for an audio book makes my ears uncomfortable and prone to infections. Reading on my phone with the blue light setting switched off is the only thing I can do. Eventually my husband saw I was awake and tried to bear hug me to sleep, I just got too hot with his body heat and hot flushes. Damn this menopause- have requested hrt from docs!
