Hi thank you, lack of sleep is not only frustrating at the time, but the long term effects of sleeplessness are (to me at least) are devastating.
i read from many “experts” how lack of sleep is a big contributor to the onset of dementia, and that scares me more than any physical decline.
Zopiclone, or any of the medications prescribed to me so far by Drs, do send me to sleep, which on the surface sounds great.
It might just be me, but when I want to swallow (I only take a half tablet as a whole one is too much for me) it I have to either swallow it with something like yogurt or a bite of banana so that it disguises the taste of the tablet.
I have even put the med inside an empty capsule (you can buy them from eBay) so that the horrible tasting thing doesn’t melt on the tongue or as it goes down the throat🤮
The after effects in the morning, are that my mouth tastes yuk, and it takes me ages to get rid of that “still asleep” fuzziness.
When I take that med, I can never wake up feeling refreshed, but I guess at least I know I’ve had sleep.
i find it best to take the med about a half hour before I want to sleep, so I use that half hour to do a quick skincare routine, brush teeth and change into nightwear.
Please note that in my experience, Drs are very reluctant to prescribe such meds.
Ive only ever received a prescription for a weeks worth, as I am advised to use them as a reset for the brain.
Then I guess the idea is that after that week, your brain will be “trained” into going to sleep.
Of course you may not experience any of the above, and I sincerely hope that you get a positive outcome.
