Whilst she went into side to drop of her children. It was off nursery premises and she works part time and children attend the nursery as well.

Aibu to report it? She does it daily.

How do you think electricity is made? With gas.

Jesus mother of all things holy. You are straw grasping. You've used plenty of electricity typing all this out. Probably time to go and sit in a dark room.

But the greatest risk was the woman driving to the nursery...

We all drive out kids every day knowing they could be killed.

But oh no .... An idling car is the real danger and police matter 🤔

It's not either or.
Both can be done safely.
I'm just disappointed in so many parents pushing back against a simple task that could make everyone safer, particularly thier children.

Yes, you're just being daft now OP.

Off the point, but really? Electric cars switch on their engines just because someone sits in them? That sounds, um, odd.

Mine does. The on/off is by opening drivers door and sitting in drivers seat. There is no ignition or switch to operate. Sit down, in gear, go. You don't even need to put on or off the handbrake - it's all automatic.

You are scraping the barrel now. However electricity is made has absolutely nothing to do with the nursery worker leaving her car idling

Yes - some serious whataboutery and convolution of arguments rather than having to change an opinion that idling and leaving a car running unattended is fundamentally less safe than turning it off for a few minutes.
Classic motornormativity.

My electricity that I use, is made purely from wind turbines!

No it's not.

It's fucking bizarre that I honestly think the world is full of loons
... Actually justifying leaning a car running whilst you aren't in the drievrs seat

I had no idea you weren’t allowed to leave a car engine running. I’ve been driving for 30 years. I do it every winter to defrost my windscreen as the fans are awful and take an age. Better watch I’m not your neighbour 😬

It’s not illegal to have your car running whilst you defrost it. Obviously you can’t leave it unattended on a public road but whilst you’re scraping etc is fine.

SingedSoul · 07/05/2026 08:29

I think we have possibly pushed OP to her limits. Next we hear she will have taken a baseball bat to this car and cocked her leg on the wheels.

Pointing out that a ZERO EMISSIONS electric car that doesn’t have an engine, sat with its ignition on is not the same as a petrol/diesel car idling is NOT “whatsbouttery” ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😆

I was not quoting about the electric cars- it was many of the other reasons such as someone saying it was unsafe to drive to the nursery therefore it was acceptable to leave a car running as that too was unsafe...

Mate:, how do you think they make it. Power the stations etc.

I am in Scotland with my own solar and battery, which both can charge my car using smart tarrifs/feed to use overnight 'spare' electricity.
On top, Scotland produces 100% of average consumption, with lots more coming on stream this year. Scotland's best day was 2x our own energy use, and averages over 80% of electricity through the year.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure my car in use is as close to renewable energy only as you can get.

I'm sure you only ever use renewable energy, walk everywhere possible and use trains and buses.
