If you don’t understand, I am referring to those who get so triumphant about ‘wins’ (regardless of party) on MN. Is just an online forum. I get second hand embarrassment reading about people crowing over victories here, whether it’s Tory, Labour or Reform!

Fair enough, but I am not sure that MN is the place for self-awareness…

Hallowedturf · 05/05/2026 15:32

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 05/05/2026 15:14

You might have to wait until Friday afternoon/evening. Counting doesn't begin until Friday morning in most cases, I think.

It is a bit sad that you are looking forward to crowing on MN about the racists doing well. But you do you etc.

Yours is a false premise, and to suggest that voters are racists - by association - is a tricky one to defend.

But you do you etc.

I thought this thread was about the glorious Kemi?

Some people make it their preferred tactic to make every thread about their opinion of Starmer and seemingly spend hours every day doing it.

Hallowedturf · 05/05/2026 15:33

JollyDenimSeal · 05/05/2026 15:16

There's no elephant in the room. It's well known that people will be voting Reform on Thursday. They are predicted to get 12 MSPs up here - with Tory and Labour losses. It's not like its some big secret is it?

Well, some posters would evidently have it otherwise - despite the data, despite the polling, despite the bleedin’ obvious.

Monty36 · 05/05/2026 15:33

I would not usually vote Conservative. Our particular MP is a decent man. Someone I know I could go to if there was a problem. And he would do his utmost to sort it out.

Labour are not a party I recognise. Starmer I do not trust. He flips with the wind. One minute this, next minute not. I am not sure what they stand for. At all. And as for Mandelson.

Reform are not the answer to our problems. They really would find running the country difficult. They are interested in money primarily. On contracts that would abound due to no NHS existing etc once they end it. They know by talking about immigration it gets the votes. But money for personal gain is their driver. Not working for the public good.

Kemi was the only person in a previous Cabinet who queried the potential for fraud during Covid. The previous Cabinets she was not in charge of. But was a far more junior player. Now she is in charge. She is far more relatable to me than Starmer. I do believe she is keen to do what is best for Britain. Not what is best for her political career or personal finances.

The liberals goon about. I cannot take them seriously.

As for the Greens. How misnamed are they now ? They rarely talk about the environment. And he must know he would be toast as soon as they feel they can do without him.

So Kemi, yes. She wouldn’t appoint Mandelson for one. And a black woman as PM. Why not.

Ireolu · 05/05/2026 15:34

I know her personally. No I do not think she is impressive and I definitely wouldn't vote for her.

Datgal · 05/05/2026 15:34

What I can't get my head around is the massive amounts of people with short term memories.
She didn't do anything positive when she had a say in it. Now she's suddenly the dogs bollocks? Yeahhhhh no. Doesn't work like that.

MrsJeanLuc · 05/05/2026 15:37

Timetakesacigarette · 05/05/2026 12:38

The Tories (of which KB was part of the cabinet) had many many years to put things right. They didn’t and instead stuck their noses in the trough and plundered the country with their rich buddies. Labour has inherited a broken country that is, sadly, past the point of no return. It’s all talk - really don’t believe the hype.

Well yes, but Labour have been in power for 2 years and things have got worse!
The "we inherited a mess" excuse is starting to wear very thin now!

Hallowedturf · 05/05/2026 15:37

Ireolu · 05/05/2026 15:34

She speaks highly of you, too.

How far do you live from UK children living in poverty?
I used to live near council estate area and haven't seen a single child without a snack or a smartphone (when older). The kids of single uneducated non-working women, not starving at all.

Oh look. Someone along to deny that kids aren't in poverty because someone has seen them have a snack "and they have a phone" - and of course council houses get brought up too.

I live in an area of high deprivation where there are holiday hunger clubs, community pantries and fridges and several food banks

Oh yes and the council estate kids were all from single parent mums who were uneducated and didn't work - so no poverty in the Uk because you say so

Go read some statistics about child poverty in the UK over the last 15 years and get back to me

Do you really?
I've met Starmer, but only once for a few minutes. He couldn't hide his boredom.

Andy Burnham? Is there any hope that he'd step forward for Labour and be given a chance?

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 05/05/2026 15:43

EasternStandard · 05/05/2026 15:29

Given the barriers Kemi faces by many with similar views as below and the type of slur it’s reality not helpful for women.

And the slurs about Rayner, Phillipson, Reeves, Abbott that are regularly thrown around on MN. Do you condemn those too?

Greenbather · 05/05/2026 15:45

ilovesooty · 05/05/2026 15:32

Some people make it their preferred tactic to make every thread about their opinion of Starmer and seemingly spend hours every day doing it.

That is why I was hoping to steer the conversation back to the thread subject but there are the usual suspects on here who will respond to every topic with - but Starmer, but Labour.
If you are saying it's a very tedious trend, I do agree with you!

Exactly. Nothing more needs to be said. Either stick with Labour or try the Tories on crack (Reform) if you just want to watch things burn. But the actual Tories should be considered an irrelevance for another two decades minimum.

Walkyrie · 05/05/2026 15:47

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 05/05/2026 15:22

She also knows fuck all about sensitive issues, as demonstrated by her tweet featuring Bloody Sunday footage.

She doesn’t ’know fuck all’ she just disagrees with you. She isn’t running to be the Taoiseach, her sensitivities will not be the same in priority.

flowertoday · 05/05/2026 15:48

I am a bit baffled by politics. I think Kemi talks desperate sounding balderdash tbh. The Conservatives seem lost , I cannot imagine a Tory government any time soon. I do hope not.

And what do people see in Nigel Farage. He is an ugly ( in all senses of the word), nasty little man. How can people get behind a party headed up by such a specimen.

I don't think Keir Starmer is that bad , but Labour is not really recognisable to Labour voters.

It is a sign of my advancing years but it all looks like a lost cause to me.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 05/05/2026 15:48

Badbadbunny · 05/05/2026 13:16

I was very impressed hearing her recently talking about bringing High Streets back to life, targeting all the money laundering "shops", encouraging/supporting small businesses etc. A politician who seems to finally "get it" when it comes to small businesses, unlike a succession of politicians over the last 30 years who hate small business and have consistently kicked them in the gutter!

Shame that she didn't manage to deliver much to revitalise the high street or support small businesses when she had the opportunity as Business Secretary then.

MabelRoyds · 05/05/2026 15:49

Walkyrie · 05/05/2026 14:03

It’s her strength I admire, she’s completely unshakeable and I actually think her experience of living in Nigeria has cemented this - she can see things outside the luxury prism of the UK, and sees through the useful idiots who think they’re knowledgeable about world affairs and need to destroy the UK to help them along. She knows that if the economy is taken care of, everything else will follow.

Yes Keir is so cocooned in his privelege he is offering the uk for free with a packet of corn flakes. Dangerous evil person, he is.

Some people make it their preferred tactic to make every thread about their opinion of Starmer and seemingly spend hours every day doing it.

Some people follow all of it.

TheLandlordsAreFrowning · 05/05/2026 15:50

Hallowedturf · 05/05/2026 15:32

Yours is a false premise, and to suggest that voters are racists - by association - is a tricky one to defend.

But you do you etc.

Anyone who at this juncture doesn't realise that Reform is a racist party and that most of the people standing for Reform are racists is either stupid or sees it as a positive.

The time for being kind, trying to understand and giving people the benefit of the doubt is long, long gone.

Monty36 · 05/05/2026 15:50

I do wish Keir did not have this image he tried to present. My dad was a toolmaker. He may well have been. But he fails to explain his Grandad owned the company. And lived in a very grand Manor House.
Nothing wrong with owning a company and living in a big house. Nothing.
But don’t present yourself as something you are not.

The usual suspects go on like this tbf.

Viviennemary · 05/05/2026 15:50

She does talk a lot of sense. Labour would never have done so well if she had been in charge for the last election. But I'd had enough if the tories after Liz Truss and I didn't approve of Rishi Sunal's billionaire wife being a non dom to avoid tax.

ExpressCheckout · 05/05/2026 15:50

@Monty36 So Kemi, yes. She wouldn’t appoint Mandelson for one. And a black woman as PM. Why not.

Absolutely agree 👏
