AIBU to tell my partner to get a taxi home?

Ladies why is it when men go out they forget that they have to come home 🤦‍♀️ my OH is out since 12 today at an occasion and I told him I’d pick him up in a few hours (I came home at 12) and I’m still waiting on the call to pick him up!! Texted him to know if he had a time in mind and he left me on read 😳🤨 I want to relax with a glass of wine and watch tv not be sitting here waiting on him! I’m so mad. Think I’ll just tell him to get a taxi at this stage right??

I’d message and say if I don’t hear from you before 730 just get a taxi and il see you at home. And at 730 open the wine!!

Millymollymandy4 · 04/05/2026 18:54

Do it - he’s bloody lucky

MeAndMyGhost · 04/05/2026 18:56

It's very rude of him not to respond if you know he's read the message.

Echo PP, set a time for him to respond by and do your own thing after that.

ohyesido · 04/05/2026 18:56

Oh that would frustrate me. I’d open the wine now and leave him on read

Lill1e · 04/05/2026 18:57

I am so mad at him. Like I get he’s probably having a good time but a quick reply wouldn’t kill him 😡

Pistachiocake · 04/05/2026 19:01

Depends if it works both ways, as in if he picks you up on your nights out.

Lill1e · 04/05/2026 19:02

Never. We only have one car between us and he doesn’t drive it. It’s my car

Absolutely! I don’t mind picking him up I’ve done it lots but ignoring my message is just downright rude

“As I’ve not heard from you and I too would like some evening to relax, i’ll assume you’re getting a cab. Have fun and see you later.”

It’s so disrespectful to just leave you on read.

You said you’d pick him up in a few hours from 12 - that way gone - so get your wine and assume he’s made other plans

unless you are crossed he is out so long…

Does he not drive or do you not let him?

He can drive but hasn’t driven in a while due to an injury so is very nervous driving my car

No honestly I’m not. It’s actually lovely to have the house to myself for a change 😝

Good - then open that wine girl - when he comes in say you were around til 4pm
and then tried to get hold of him and he didn’t reply so you thought he’d made other plans - love you darling - look back at tv

I would've told him this at 2pm

What kind of gentleman is this?!

Yay 👏👏👏👏👏

You literally waited ages - get it into your head he’s made other plans

enjoy your wine!

BudgetBuster · 04/05/2026 19:41

I definitely would have given him a timeframe before he went out / before ye went seperate ways... I often do this with my DH. I'll say text me for a lift if you're home before 5pm but I'm not coming out after that, you can get a taxi.

You know for next time!
Enjoy the wine 🍷

Everintroverte · 04/05/2026 19:42

No I hate this too, glad you have opened the wine!

Sod that then. Open the wine tell him to uber. You're not a taxi; and youre definitely not a taxi that is left on read and ignored.

Open the wine.

Iloveacurry · 04/05/2026 19:48

Enjoy your wine op! Cheers!

Shinyandnew1 · 04/05/2026 20:30

I think I’m the odd one out here thinking it’s a bit harsh. I can imagine someone saying they were out, they didn’t let their husband know a time but said they’d pick them up, but when it came to it he said “you didn’t reply so I had a beer, get a taxi” wouldn’t get the same responses
