I deleted my previous account (due to poor mental health) but I’m back.

Solidarity with the Jewish community.

Much love to you all.

I will always support you.

This is all very performative.

No @cantstartagain, it isn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a previous thread inviting me to express my solidarity for my Jewish friends, so I am taking the opportunity to tell them I love them.

Feel free to move to another thread if this one isn’t your thing.

BlakeCarrington · 03/05/2026 20:50

In contrast, threads bashing Jewish people are a dime a dozen, so how great to have one reassuring them how loved they are 🥰

Yes, and naming nomas was out of order.

The OP wasn't 'chased away' by anyone.

But if I remember rightly, her motives in starting so many threads that many considered performative, was called into question at one point.

This is all very performative.

Well, I could have stopped working with my Israeli colleague but I don't. It could impact who else is prepared to have me work with them.
Is that performative or is that about my livelihood? Or is it just a very very small gesture of solidarity with a friend.

AcquadiP · 03/05/2026 20:59

Sending solidarity to the Jewish community who have lived peacefully on this island for
centuries. This is your home, you have as much right to be here as anyone else.

Igmum · 03/05/2026 20:59

So sorry you felt you had to leave Mumsnet Rochelle and welcome back.

I’m horrified that I now live in a country where a 76 year old is stabbed while waiting at a bus stop because he looks Jewish or a father is killed for attending synagogue. Yes, solidarity with Jewish people in the UK on Mumsnet and beyond. We want you safe from this sort of harm and from the fear of this sort of harm.

Seconded Flowers

Glenthebattleostrich · 03/05/2026 21:02

Absolutely horified by some of the posts on here recently.

And whilst i fully support peoples right to protest, yoy can't use that to intimidate people of a religion which has been persecuted for centuries. Rather sad that attitudes of some haven't moved on from Shakespearean times when it comes to antisematism.

scoobysnaxx · 03/05/2026 21:02

PoorEileen · 03/05/2026 19:57

There is some disgusting antisemitism that is rife currently. My grandmother was Jewish. My mother and I weren’t raised Jewish but I still have strong feelings to the religion. I have a Jewish surname, I love my heritage and stand with solidarity always against antisemitism. I was one of two children in my entire secondary school with a Jewish surname and I had some certainly very questionable things said to me, once by a teacher, this was 30 years ago now so I dread to think what would be said now. My DC don’t have my surname, they have their fathers.
I also think some people are being accused of antisemitism for being critical of the Israeli government. That is not being antisemitic. Showing support to Palestinians, is not antisemitism. Being opposed to the death of 1000s and 1000s of babies and children is not antisemitism. People getting called antisemitic for having views or opinions waters down completely the genuine meaning of antisemitism and it stops it having any real meaning. I hate the fact that in these times my grandmother would fear leaving her home, a woman who was evacuated, would have had to have lived in fear because of her religion from the start of her life until the end. Hatred for another person because they have different beliefs from yourself is so strange to me.

100% this

I think the difference is whether the action is mainly symbolic or whether it involves an actual personal choice with consequences attached.

Deciding to continue openly supporting or working with someone despite possible backlash is a real life action that could materially affect you, so I wouldn’t call that purely performative.

Posting “I stand with X group” on an anonymous forum isn’t a bad thing but it is mostly symbolic. It doesn’t cost the OP anything or require them to act differently in real life, which is why it’s being described it as performative.

Well that and

"I am sorry sorry I went away"

"Here for you all x"

I'm sure the OP's heart is in the right place, but her previous threads/comments did seem to get a lot of Jewish people's backs up.

You really need to stop calling anyone who disagrees with you an antisemite

Ok, and you see this is why so many people backs were up last time.

Anyone whose posts you considered to be disagreeing with you (such as you being out of order for publicly accusing a poster who isn't even here), generally resulted in you calling them an antisemite.

Can you not understand how this might come across to Jewish people who actually understand what antisemitism is, because they have to live with it every single day?

Could you kindly bog off please. This is a thread to offer solidarity and love to the UK’s Jewish communities. Please take your irrelevant arguments about other threads elsewhere.

Where?

So go and take your arguments about “last time” back to the relevant thread and stop derailing this one. Thanks awfully.

Excuse me but it certainly was not irrelevant to me.

I was the one accused of being an antisemite by the OP, purely because I think she's out of order for accusing nomas of 'chasing her away', when she's not even here to defend herself.

And this is the way many of the OP's previous threads went.

This thread (like all my previous ones) was started in good faith

Tjis country is riddled with antisemitism, no matter what the government says
