I agree with the consensus on Politics Joe to be honest. They will face substantial losses, kick Starmer out and pave the way for Rayner and Burnham to return. I think those two are the exact sort of leaders Labour needs. Starmer is as dull as dishwater.

It’s quite complicated to topple a Labour leader. Not like the Tories

Reform is shitting itself about the Green surge cancelling out their dream of sweeping the board.

It's pretty obvious with the constant, distinctly botty, threads and posts with nothing but simplistic 'opinions' and attacking other posters.

Are there any particular posts that bother you?

if you think someone is a bot or is posting in bad faith then you should report it to MNHQ.

Sweeping accusations are not appropriate.

GiaGia16 · 02/05/2026 11:45

Of course they are, no reason why Reform would be shitting themselves

It’s Starmer putting out statements re ZP anyway.

Although that could backfire and help Greens.

Yes most of what Starmer does has the direct opposite effect of what he intends.

Good.

Is it?

I am in Kent and all our Reform led council has done is put council tax up and nothing whatsoever to improve services.

Council tax has gone up everywhere. We are (since last election ) LibDem and ours has risen 6.5% this year. Also no sign of anything improving.

The Greens split the left wing vote so Reform are probably quite pleased that they are doing so well. It would be rather surprising if Greens were gaining any voters from Reform. That would be quite a political leap.

Yes but Reform campaigned with a promise they would not raise council tax...

Lolz
You can tell it's coming up to elections.
I'll be voting Labour, soz not soz

I don’t know I feel that a lot of reform voters are just disillusioned and looking for a place to lay blame for the state of the country and cost of living crisis. Reform tell them that it’s the boat people etc. If they can be open to the real causes of their struggles they would probably then see sense in what the Green Party propose.

I’d be delighted to see Reform’s guff be disproved and the party crashing at later elections. But every leaflet I’ve ever seen from every party has always made unlikely promises and sometimes bare-faced lies. The LibDems have the most misleading leaflets with their infamously dodgy bar charts. And I see that the Greens are going the same way.

My objection to Reform is that it’s a party for voters who are randomly, doltishly angry about the world, not a serious political movement.

DamsonIcecream · 02/05/2026 12:31

I’m voting Labour!

eyeballer · 02/05/2026 12:31

Tillow4ever · 02/05/2026 07:35

Be careful what you wish for. I can’t see ANY political party in this country right now that would make people happier. I can, however, see at least one that will make things worse.

This

eyeballer · 02/05/2026 12:36

The weirdest thing about some of the electorate is that even shenanigans like this by Reform: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/merseyside-reform-uk-chair-leaves-33859744.amp won't put some people off voting for them. They're a party with a large % of people who shouldn't be anywhere near public office. Ditto the Greens.

I don’t think it matters what Reform do, a lot of people want to believe the utopia they are selling.

Merseyside Reform UK chair leaves role before elections

The website for the local Reform UK branch has removed Larry Sweeney as chair despite him claiming to still be a Reform UK candidate

I just googled how much ours has gone up. Also Lib Dem council. Has gone up 21.3% in the past five years!

They both appeal to people who like simple populist solutions which don't add up, but there is a big divide between them. Someone on here called them two cheeks of the same arse and that is a pretty accurate description.

There is a recent MN on council tax rises, it makes for shocking reading and ought to be something the govt is addressing.

keepswimming38 · 02/05/2026 12:53

Reform are actually being funded to dismantle the uk. These individuals funding them stand to benefit from that arrangement. Why would anyone vote for this party?

What do people expect with an ageing population that has been ignored by successive governments? Taxes can only go one way!

Politics Joe is for children isn't it?

It markets to Gen Z I think

teine · 02/05/2026 13:02

They’re all bad, but some are worse than others. I hate the idea of not voting as a woman but can’t subscribe to reform or greens, I dislike the racist, anti immigration side of reform, equally I don’t like the greens approach to single sex spaces.

keepswimming38 · 02/05/2026 13:03

@ProudAmberTurtlewhy do people long for exciting? To manage the business of the country I want dull and competent. We’ve had the prick abseiling down zip lines in Union Jack knickers. Is that what you want?

When did I say want exciting?

I want our leader to be inspirational and competent - not sure why anyone would want someone who is dull. We had that with the likes of Major, Sunak and Starmer - none were good leaders.

But silly stunts does not make someone exciting - look at Ed Davey.

How does dull and incompetent grab you? If you’re a fan of that you must be over the moon at the moment.

keepswimming38 · 02/05/2026 13:11

@DenizenOfAisleOfShamei don’t jump on every Daily Mail headline thankfully. I actually think Labour are doing ok after 14 years of Tory incompetence. Dull and competent is fine by me.
