AIBU to be furious over an incorrect result on my notes?

I’m pregnant and 2 months ago went to maternity triage due to spotting/cramps. They took a swab and I was told I have thrush afterwards. No big deal.
Today I checked my test result notes on the app and saw an entry from that visit saying positive for thrush AND chlamydia. Obviously I completely panicked.
I called my GP who said they can only see thrush on their system, nothing about chlamydia. I then spoke to maternity triage and the midwife checked and told me there is no chlamydia result on my report from that visit and that it must be an error on Badger Notes.
I had a massive shock seeing that with crazy scenarios going through my head about DH potentially cheating on me etc. I had a panic attack for like 30 minutes (pregnancy hormones are also making it more stressful)
And now I’m being told it’s a “mistake” as if it is no biggie
AIBU to be absolutely furious about this?? It feels like a huge thing to get wrong, especially in pregnancy.

Initially yes I would’ve panicked as well but they’ve reassured you it was a mistake and mistakes do happen and it wasn’t a big mistake I.e misdiagnosis. It’s not caused anything life threatening so I think you should let it go sorry, it’s nothing to be furious about.

Namechangedforthisoneyep · 01/05/2026 21:39

I completely get your panic but to be absolutely furious now that you know the truth is a bit much.

Mistakes happen, you followed good steps to check out your query and find the truth before any further harm was done. That’s life.

MidnightEagle · 01/05/2026 21:41

What exactly did the note say? Chlamydia is definitely something they would test for in that scenario. I wouldn't be furious, it sounds just like an administrative error.

YellowSloth · 01/05/2026 21:57

I assume this is your first pregnancy. I spend 7 hours stuck up the hospital after being transferred to consultant care cause it had been recorded I had kidney disease when I finally got seen it took 10second to sort.... Mistakes and errors happen. If you she never hit the wrong key at work you will be recognised by the king I am sure.

LoremIpsumCici · 01/05/2026 21:58

It’s just a mistake and you’ve suffered no harm.
You have no right to be furious.
A mistake that is a “biggie” are the thousands of mistakes in the NHS that cause people to die every year.

WoollyandSarah · 01/05/2026 22:00

The main question is whether they've fixed it. Otherwise you will appear to have untreated chlamydia to anyone who sees those notes. That doesn't sound like a fun conversation to have repeatedly.

Voneska · 01/05/2026 22:02

I had a similar thing happened to me....I thought it must be some mistake. 20 years later (After D. I. V. O. R. C. E.) My husband confessed .....

meganorks · 01/05/2026 22:03

Yeah, I think a big over-reaction on your part. As they never mentioned chlamydia to you, surely your first thought was 'this is a mistake'. If you went straight to 'my DH is cheating' I suggest there is another reason for that. Hopefully just hormones....

Lovestotravel79 · 02/05/2026 01:54

No one personally told you about having Chlamydia so a small administrative error on your notes, people are human, mistakes can be made. Sounds like a huge overreaction given you and baby are fine.

2017SoFarSoGood · 02/05/2026 02:09

My chart showed I drank 10-12 drinks a day! They could never tell me how it got on there, and deleted it, but who knows for how long it had shown me as having a significant alcohol intake.

bridgetreilly · 02/05/2026 02:16

Massive overreaction to be furious about it.

Girl what an odd thing to comment when it was the hospital who told me it was an error and the GP clearly told me the report says nothing about chlamydia. I didn’t “think it must be some mistake”. I clearly said that I had a panic attack for 30 mins till the hospital confirmed I don’t even have it.

Well if someone randomly gets chlamydia after having previous swabs etc and after being with your husband exclusively, then there is no other explanation. I completely trust my husband but I’m not naive. I always see threads etc like this where the women don’t even have that as an option in their heads, if the test really did confirm chlamydia then yes it would require testing on his part and very serious discussions.

presumably someone has the same name as you, it was marked up incorrectly and then rectified

ForUmberFinch · 02/05/2026 05:09

Ahh. The usual mumsnet bs responses about over-reacting. And all missing a key point. Yes the mistake wasn’t a biggie this time round BUT what about next time? I had a high risk pregnancy. Triage made a mistake on my notes, downgrading my risk level. This resulted in me being given the wrong advice and my baby died as a result. All of this proven in an internal enquiry. So OP is absolutely right to be furious and I’d be making a formal complaint

Mapletree1985 · 02/05/2026 05:52

Mistakes happen. We have to learn to roll with them. Why are you focused on the bad in this and not the good? You don't have chlamydia - that's great news! Let the rest go and move on.

PollyBell · 02/05/2026 05:54

I would think bit odd and move on no need to be furious about it

ValenciaOrangeJawline · 02/05/2026 06:18

Absolutely ridiculous minimisation on this thread.

The organisation that made the error should want to understand how this has happened so that steps can be taken to prevent it from happening again. Not to scapegoat an individual for making a slip, but investigating how systems could be strengthened to prevent the slip. And they should apologise to the OP, and acknowledge that their error was unacceptable.

The fact that it “only” caused the OP significant distress for a short time doesn’t mean it should be downplayed. A similar mistake elsewhere could have catastrophic consequences.

Couldn’t agree more! Finally, someone talking sense.

Happytaytos · 02/05/2026 06:23

Someone probably just clicked the wrong button somewhere. Human error happens.

It happened because humans make mistakes it is not a conspiracy

ThejoyofNC · 02/05/2026 06:34

I understand why you were stressed but it's been resolved now. Mistakes happen in life, nothing is fool proof. I'm just glad we don't have a lawsuit society like the USA.

CurlyKoalie · 02/05/2026 06:43

I don't see an apology from the doctors surgery which I would say is the minimum the OP should expect.
" We can't see it this end...." Sounds to me like a holding comment whilst some admin person accessed the system to correct the error. A bit patronising too. Suggest taking a screenshot or similar if something like that happens again.
What would have happened if the OP hadn't checked her notes and seen it? Presumably the incorrect data would still be there.

ValenciaOrangeJawline · 02/05/2026 06:44

PollyBell · 02/05/2026 06:24

I didn’t say it was a conspiracy. I said it was most likely a system error that needs to be fixed to prevent more serious consequences.

Yes, individuals can make errors, but healthcare systems should be designed so that errors can be spotted and rectified.

If you want to understand more you could look up “human factors NHS”, but if you’re just here with the rest of the early morning shift to kick the OP, carry on.

How rude! And you expect empathy from others.

Midwives make mistakes - you will have to get used to it.
