Anyone work for Eddie Stobart and get their name on a lorry?

How did you feel about it?

Did you go down and see the lorry in the car park from time to time?

I do not know if they still own it, but I went through Southend Airport a few times which they did. All of the service vehicles were made to look like Stobart trucks and they had names on. Nice place. Little things amuse little minds like mine.

They got bought out by Culina a few years ago and the old style lorries hardly exist these days.

We would Eddie spot on our way to Scotland. When we first started going up the M6 wasn't open all the way up to the border so the A road took you past their HQ.
DH worked for a competitor- hauling not just any food, but M&S food...

I work for them. Didn’t have my name on the truck as didn’t want to but got to name two so chose family and friends names…they were delighted 😂
The drivers didn’t get to choose the names. There was often a 2 year wait to get your name chosen and a lot were done via charity donations/auctions or naming after someone’s child for a family that had suffered a loss, as per PP comment.

I think I still have our Steady Eddie video tape somewhere. It was given to me by a fiend who worked at Stobart in Warrington at the time. Must have been about 20 years ago now .

They were traditionally the name of the driver’s wife or girlfriend.

That’s worse than getting a tattoo! Imagine if she runs off with an ice cream van guy & for years after you’re driving around with her name on your truck.

I suppose if any of the drivers are swingers, they could discreetly signal to other interested parties by truck swapping?

There are very few Stobart lorries left, Culina have taken over, I follow an HGV driver on YouTube & he did a delivery to what was a Stobart depot, all the trailers & some of the HGV units were all waiting to be scrapped.

He originally didn't have the face.

I’m sure Norbert Dentressangle used to get quite a few letters published in Viz, along with his mate Hapag Lloyd.

There was a thread on here a 'few' years ago called something like 'The Eddie Stobart method of naming girls' - where you had to name your next female child after the first Stobart truck you saw.
