Anyone work for Eddie Stobart and get their name on a lorry?

How did you feel about it?

Did you go down and see the lorry in the car park from time to time?

I overturned my Eddie stobbart lorry loaded with Vicks Vapour rub, there was no congestion for 8 hours.

Sorry op I've no experience with them.

Needmorelego · 30/04/2026 19:46

How do you get your name on?
Do you pay or is it like a reward for good service?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 30/04/2026 19:49

I thought it was just random women's names?!

I think it's employee names. I assume there might even be a naming ceremony. That's why I'm asking. I want to know all the details.

I did, but my name is Edie Stopart so it didn’t really have much of an impact.

Needmorelego · 30/04/2026 20:05

I'd probably go and say hello to "my" lorry.
I say hello to the robot cleaners they have at railway stations.
Although I am slightly terrified of "Scrubsy" who works at Charing Cross Station so I am keeping on his good side.

Most lorry drivers are men aren't they? And the trucks all have women's names.

Now I'm interested to find out how they pick the names.

Urzurtixitxigcog · 30/04/2026 20:08

I know a couple who did, one was the wife of a board member and she also got someone else’s name done for a present

Vitrolinsanity · 30/04/2026 20:09

I googled, the first were Tammy, Dolly, Suzi and Twiggy. Eddie’s mam Nora got one and Fusilier Lee Ryan is the exception to women’s names.

We love seeing ES trucks on the motorway and always hoot and wave.

Back in the days we also made a game of Safeway lorries: would they have salmon, would they have strawberries? Anything to while the time.

Vitrolinsanity · 30/04/2026 20:10

My Eddie lorry dumped its load of eggs. That was a right scramble.

Needspaceforlego · 30/04/2026 20:11

There doesn't seem to be as many Eddie Stobbarts on the roads as there was a few years back.

But also curious how they name them

MrsHamlet · 30/04/2026 20:14

I wrote to them and asked if they had a specific name. They didn't and so they added it :)

ToffeePennie · 30/04/2026 20:18

A friend donated a big bunch of money to have her daughter’s name put on one. the money went to the charity of the year
Another friend, her daughter loved seeing the Lorries and was determined to get her name on one, but sadly, she died when she was just 3. The company found out (I may have written and told them) that my friends daughter loved them and they named their next newest lorry after the daughter. My friend loved it because “she’s off having adventures”

BertSymptom · 30/04/2026 20:23

I’m always trying to catch the name of an Eddie Stobart as it goes past but just assumed they were randomly generated somehow. Just googled it and sort of pleasing to know they tend to be named after actual people. Hope you find one of them on this thread!

That is so lovely.

My mate Sandra was engaged to Eddie stobart but had to call off the wedding when she found out he was HGV positive

Ca2026 · 30/04/2026 20:27

There was a documentary on them years ago. I’m sure it showed this on it.

I used to love seeing Norbert Dentressangle!

A family member worked for a company that had close links with Eddie Stobart. Family member died unexpectedly and her employer arranged for her name to be on a lorry. Her immediate family were invited to see the lorry. I look for it every time I’m on a motorway

ERthree · 30/04/2026 20:49

The drivers can name the cabs. They name them after the Mums or wives.
