WTF was he wearing?!

I passed a man earlier (maybe 45 to 50), who was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words "I'm not a gynecologist [sic], but I'll take a look anyway".

AIBU to think this is arrantly classless, misogynistic in reducing women to mere vulvas and that you'd have you'd have to be a prick to own such a monstrosity, never mind wear it out in public?!

It's surprising - and of course horrifying - how many classless parents will use the word 'sexy' as a synonym for 'cute' or 'adorable' when referring to their children.

I've also seen babygros available to buy with such 'delightful' slogans as "Daddy says Mummy only wanted a back rub". Dressing a child in clothes like this is seriously verging on 'check their hard drives' territory.

I don't believe that parents use the adjective sexy for their young children. I'm sorry, but I just don't.

MinnieMountain · 15/04/2026 05:30

I believe the "sexy" thing. DH's cousin was a TA in a school with a Barbara (not actual first name) May Swallow. Her parents thought it was funny.

SassyButClassy · 15/04/2026 06:07

It's gross but everyone shouts about freedom of expression, girl power and equality. Polite, societal standards evaporate under these banners.

WhatAboutSecondBreakfast86 · 15/04/2026 06:16

I remember these kind of T shirts being really popular in the '00s. They were not just worn by males either. I had a female friend who wore one saying 'Ride me cowboy all night long'

Mapletree1985 · 15/04/2026 06:23

I like it when they wear those red flag shirts. Without even talking to them, you know to keep your distance.

TheCobbleCreekMonster · 15/04/2026 06:26

Lemonfrost · 14/04/2026 23:03

Does anyone remember those awful T shirts that had FBI on them and then, in smaller letters, ‘Female Body Inspector’?

My neighbour wears this exact tee shirt.

I haven't spoken to him in 18 years because of his sexist and other piss poor behaviours towards me.

As a PP stated, at least they are telling the world they are twats upfront, removing all shadow of doubt.

AtlasPine · 15/04/2026 06:29

if you showed your disgust, he’d say you had no sense of humour.

I’d suggest - ignore and silently thank him for warning you to never have anything to do with him. Talk to any children with you who see the T shirt about how repulsive it is and why. It’s a teaching tool. He’s just a tool.

Disasterclass · 15/04/2026 06:45

I think that t shirt came up as a prize task on taskmaster from Kerry Godliman. She told a story about a man on the tube who was wearing it and staring at her. Can’t remember if she won

There used to be a t-shirt that was advertised in a few places that said something like "When I grow up, I want to be a nurse - so I can help to make people better and see lots of willies".

Again, going on the actual slogan, it suggests that it was intended for very young women/girls to wear. I can see why some people might possibly choose to make 'off' risque jokes like this or the OP one in private; but actually going out in public wearing this on a t-shirt for all to see is downright creepy. Who is actually making them, selling them, buying them and wearing them? Imagine having so little self-awareness.

I remember my mother buying the knock off of the nurse tee shirt for dd years ago

She would have been 10/11 and my mother thought it was hilarious

Shes an anti-woman dickhead and apparently im a fool who needs a sense of humour (I threw it back at her)

I was once walking down the street with a friend and two youngish lads (in their early 20's) came around the corner, both wearing tee shirts that had pictures of woman doing degrading sex acts-no words, just a picture

Both where talking to each other about 'how to pull a bird at x nightclub,Saturday night as its normally full, but they dont look at us'

Er change your clothes and attitude lads and a woman may look twice at you

Renamedyetagain · 15/04/2026 06:48

I remember being about 21 (25 years ago) on a bus in Australia and feeling a bit wtf at a guy wearing a t-shirt which said "Real Men Eat P*ssy"

It's sad, desperate, attention seeking behaviour

My MIL used to refer to DS1's chubby baby legs as 'sexy'. She's quite a well-to-do person, not remotely crass and definitely not a paedophile. I assumed it was a regional/generational thing. I did point out that it sounded gross and she did stop saying it!

It's better than the t-shirt a saw a little girl of about 5 or 6 wearing a few weeks ago

Daddy's sexy kitten 🤢

Christ, that's sickening!

They definitely do, unfortunately. As a teenager, I went to the cousins house of my then boyfriend. There were two young children there and I often heard all but the mum calling them sexy. Obviously, after the first time I heard it, I told my bf it's weird as hell! But he said it's normal (his sister was bad for saying 'sexy, shmexy little bitch,' to the eldest, 4 year old...)

Wouldn't be able to pass my lips to call any child sexy, not even in a bizarre alternative way to meaning cute or whatever. Some people are that way though. Me and him didn't last long, we disagreed too much on how weird his family were and the things they called eachother.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/04/2026 07:10

Well it had the desired effect. Lots of people frothing about it 🤣🤣🤣

PlumPieBaker · 15/04/2026 07:15

You saw Graham? Was this in Limerick?

Getupat8amnow · 15/04/2026 07:17

I was out and about in a UK city in 2007 and saw a young man wearing the same T shirt as the one mentioned by the OP. I still remember the year as I was so amazed and disgusted that someone actually thought it was acceptable to wear such a vile thing.

NormasArse · 15/04/2026 07:18

These T-shirts are useful- they show you who to avoid.

swallowthelightonthestairs · 15/04/2026 07:26

I've seen some absolutely horrific ones over the years (particularly at festivals) but I generally associate them more with Noughties lad/"bantz" culture.

It's always amazed me how many women didn't seem to mind them, though. Perhaps it betrays a certain amount of "cheeky" confidence on behalf of the wearer? I dunno.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/04/2026 07:29

He’s wearing it - you aren’t. You don’t have to like it as he’s a total stranger. He’s an adult,

I do however remember seeing a child of about 10 with a t-shirt which said ‘porn star’. That is horrible and shocking.

I literally have a photo of myself at about 10 years old wearing a baseball cap with this on it. Apparently I was desperate for the hat and my mum thought it was hilarious to let me wear it! 😒

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 15/04/2026 07:30

Makes me wearing FCUK T-shirts back in the day tame. Only joking!

I hope she ditched the second name as soon as she could.

And if my parents had done that deliberately, I would have no qualms about changing my entire name, including surname.
