I imagine that whats a lot of people feel like when they walk into a cafe and see a dog.
Or when they go clothes shopping and there’s a dog.

Yes, and in fact I’d like to see a separate MN for all the dog despisers - they could vent their loathing as much as they like, without getting on the nerves of all us nice normal dog lovers. ❤️🐶

The problem I suppose that those who do not like dogs around them don't have much choice anymore in avoiding them. I don't blame them either. I love dogs etc. but even I am getting fed up with the ubiquity of them everywhere I go now. I don't bring my dog with me anywhere, except for his daily walks and to the dog run. What kind of a boring monster am I!

It is not so much the threads that are a problem. It is the people who they attract.
A few of us joke about a dog haters bingo card because of the crazy stuff some people come out with, some of it offensive, but they always go the same way.

It ends up being impossible to have a reasonable discussion when someone is ranting about dogs being man made and not actually animals.

If you are going to go down the route of censoring what subjects posters can start threads on then there's quite a few that I would ban before ones on dogs.
The ridiculous " How old do you think I am"? and " Do i look overweight" should be the first to go imo.

Yeah they should go because no-one knows whether the photo is of the actual OP, or someone uploading a photo of someone they hate.

I only see these on MN. If people feel that strongly, they can campaign for change. Otherwise stop whingeing.

I find people here losing their minds over a dog in a cafe or shop quite funny. Someone once called me a nasty person and a cunt for saying I took my dogs to cafes that allowed dogs. She was obviously a really lovely person herself. 😬

All my life in this country and I have never seen the ridiculous babying of dogs I see now. Why are there dogs in shops like John Lewis among the clothes racks? Why are dogs being treated like leisure accessories?

I'm just waiting for a child to be bitten in a cafe or shop, or someone with allergies to become seriously ill. It's going to take people being harmed before commonsense starts to prevail.

But then again I don't know why I'm surprised when the government didn't order a cull on dog breeds that are literally killing people and still hasn't done so. The UK values dogs over the human beings.

I might set up dogsnet so everyone can go on there and talk about how all dogs eat all children and cafes shouldn’t allow dogs because it’s like every person allergic to pets will go there and die because they’re allergic to them.

Christ, I’m not a fan of dogs by any means but I’d never throw a personal attack at someone for bringing their dog into a pub (although it did happen to me once and seeing the person feeding their dog bits of chicken and licking their fingers put me right off my lasagne)

Hopefully the more threads there are the more likely something is to be done about the totally unreasonable prevalence of dogs in unsuitable places.

It started as ‘nasty person’. Then when I asked why I was nasty when I was only taking my dogs in places they were allowed/welcome, they decided to call me a cunt. I still see them regularly on threads about dogs, they really do seem to hate dogs and their owners.

A dog in a dog friendly place is not in an unsuitable place.

If having had too many threads on a topic already is a reason to ban new ones mumsnet would close down. Theres nothing on here that hasn't been talked about plenty of times already.

Im not really keen on the idea that if other people have talked about something in the past then different people cant talk about it later on.
