If anyone can find an example of this sort of 'statemanship' from any other US President in the last 250 years, please provide it. Noone can, because it doesn't exist.

I'm not puzzled at all. This started the moment President Obama was elected; and it was a swift and very loud campaign to ensure the 'equilibrium' was restored.
People usually get the government they deserve.
