People pay a licence fee to watch and utilise the BBC services, not for personal information on their staff.

Ffs!

Have you never, you know, actually met people before?

This has spread like wildfire across SM, Tattle & Reddit.

I’m interested to know why he was sacked. I’ve listened to his breakfast show for a while now as it’s on during the school run. I want to know what he’s done so I can make a decision about whether or not to listen to him in the future when he pops up elsewhere.

Surely you’d just make a decision based on whether you like what their offer is and whether you find it entertaining. If it’s something illegal it’ll come out at some point and if it’s not then why would it influence your decision? Do you know and agree with the moral standing of every person you watch or listen to?

SweetcornFritter · 30/03/2026 18:15

He probably sang some lyrics which included the N word, that’s enough to get you the sack from the BBC.

LetterBetter · 30/03/2026 18:25

Reddit is leaning towards tax issues; time of year perhaps.

As well as drugs/alcohol.

I do hope it's the former, rather than something dark and Edwards-esque.

Missingpop · 30/03/2026 18:32

Who really cares he’s an annoying pillock; not funny in the slightest; a really pathetic little scrott

Mischance · 30/03/2026 18:34

The fact that it was swift and sacking rather than suspension suggests something serious and possibly indictable.

As it should, it’s an incredibly racist, offensive term. If someone in my team used that word their coat would he on a very shaky peg and they’re not high profile.

HoskinsChoice · 30/03/2026 17:51

With the exception of free charity services, every single employee in the world works for a company that delivers products or services that are paid for. That includes you. If you were disciplined for some reason, I presume you would you be happy for it to be in the public domain because somebody is paying for the services your company provides??

I’m retired

Worse than Huw Edwards as the BBC instantly sacked him. We are talking the BBC here, where you would need to murder someone before they even spent a year apologising to you and reassuring you still have a job with them and spending hundreds of millions in taxpayer PR to defend your reputation that’s in tatters
and giving you 2 years severance pay. Scott Mills was on £350k a year, so he’s got let’s assume £2m severance pay.

I agree it is an offensive and racist term and I hate hearing it in rap songs but I don’t think anyone who finds themselves rapping along to the lyrics is an evil racist that deserves the sack.

Scott Mills probs said he voted Reform or met Trump once. The BBC went ballistic and had volcanic rage at the mere thought one of their employees was not a Fabian society communist.

Neither is texting sexually to an adult , as long as consensual and not in the work place, or having a drink or drug problem,,

im stunned anyone thinks you could be fired for these things.

If it is about having an affair, it won't just be about sex. It will be a relationship with someone he had a power imbalance over. An intern or someone he was in a position to do favours for.

DrowningNotWaveing · 30/03/2026 19:02

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 30/03/2026 12:14

Could be anything. Maybe having an affair, or sending sexual messages to a consenting and legal aged adult. Could be the above with a minor.
Could be he’s got a drug or alcohol problem.
Could be he’s said something inappropriate to another person, such as something racist or any form of discrimination.

Does it really matter?
Why should it be public knowledge?

Because it SHOULD be - out them! They obviously thought it was a good idea at the time, so shouldn't be hidden

It could be that specifying why he's been sacked would identify the other person.

Conkersinautumn · 30/03/2026 19:07

Dollymylove · 30/03/2026 13:44

He was sacked because of "allegations" abiut his personal conduct.
An allegation is an allegation. I didnt think people could be sacked for an allegation these days? Should he not have been suspended pending an enquiry/court case?

Probably means the meeting went along the lines of x has alleged you did this and he's gone yup, that's true. Not everyone wants an investigation / suspension and speculation.

imnothavingagoodtime · 30/03/2026 19:08

I heard he just kept eating other people’s sandwiches from the staff fridge and, despite the passive aggressive sign he did not put his mug in the dishwasher. In the end all the other DJs signed a letter stating that they go on strike if they didn’t get rid. Sad, but he’s only got himself to blame!

missmollygreen · 30/03/2026 19:09

RedRiverShore6 · 30/03/2026 12:22

It should be public knowledge because the public pay for it, around £180 a year I believe

What about people who work for the civil service?
Unless it is criminal, there is no need for the public to know.

HoraceCope · 30/03/2026 19:12

i read it was an issue in a relationship from 10 years ago

pinkypoo8 · 30/03/2026 19:26

Why should it be public knowledge? Are you serious? it's a punitive tax we all have to pay - they are our state broadcaster which gets £3.5 billion from those of us who are still pay it - it pays his wages, we have the right to know and should have a voice to get rid of this diabolical tax and replace it with a subscription model but we have the LF inflicted on us AT THE MOMENT - THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE there is something rotten at the core of BBC management and HR processes which for some reason people of his ilk are drawn towards do you really need a list? It is scandal ridden and frankly a national embarrassment its glory days are long behind it

Yes, that's why the BBC platforms Reform every other week on QT!

What's wrong with the Fabian Society? It isn't a Comminust organisation by any stretch of the imagination. There is a whole batshit, right-wing conspiracy theory about it, but I am sure you are not foolish enough to buy into that.

pinkypoo8 · 30/03/2026 19:29

Did you not read the previous post ? the license fee helps to pay his wage as it does extortionately for other presenters who aren't worth it would you perhaps prefer to have been kept in the dark about the likes of Savile, Huw Edwards, Rolf Harris? The list goes on, do you seriously think that those "personal details" shouldn't have been disclosed, don't you think the public have a right to know where their hard earned cash which is being "stolen" from them in the form of a punitive tax goes?

TulipsDaffsAndSunshine · 30/03/2026 19:43

So much rage towards not your employer because they’re not telling YOU why they terminated someone’s employment contract. Adding quotation marks doesn’t tame your- wildly dramatic and offensive without evidence - suggestions about what category the employee was “obviously” in.

Take some deep breaths or you’ll not be able to sleep well tonight…
