This is what I’ve eaten over the last 7 days.
Does this seem like too much food to you or not a lot of food?
Female 5 foot 2.

Day 1

4 egg omelette with 2 pork chops and red pepper, sweet corn.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts spread out and picked on over the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 2

3 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with some veg.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts picked on throughout the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 3
4 egg omelette and pack of prawns, sweetcorn and spinach.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g bag of Mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 4
Half a roast chicken picked at.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheese and half a packet of 200g nuts to pick throughout the day.
5 cups of decaf coffee.

Day 5
4 fried eggs, mushrooms, an avocado, tomatoes and bacon.
Snacks - half a pack of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 6
500g diced beef fried with red pepper and mushrooms.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 7
1 Tin of tuna and salad.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half packet of 200g mixed nuts.
1 bottle of white wine.

2 fillets of salmon with green beans, broccoli and red pepper.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g packet of nuts.
5 cups of decaf coffee.
1 bottle of white wine.

I have used the term half a pack instead of (450g) cheese and 100g nuts because I thought people would be able to imagine a 900g block of cheese and 200g pack of nuts easier as that’s how they come.
Does this sound like too much food or not enough food please?
I typically eat one meal a day in the morning and pick on cheese and nuts sporadically for the rest of the day.
This is because I need to eat until I’m full or I will still feel hungry after so I eat a big main meal first thing as it works for me and I feel full.
The cheese and nuts are because of a craving for cheese. I love my cheese.

A lb of cheese a day? That’s insane. Also you don’t seem to be getting many vitamins/nutrients.

YourAvidKhakiPanda · 30/03/2026 20:45

It sounds like a very chaotic approach to food, do you have history of ED?

embroideredpanda · 30/03/2026 20:45

ivyball · 30/03/2026 13:01

Well no probably not.
This thread has gone the opposite way that I was expecting, I thought my family were being ridiculous so I came to see what others thought.
I thought people were going to tell me I ate really healthy meals or that I should eat more because one meal a day isn’t enough.

I didn’t really process the quantities at first but once I did it’s all I could think about.

Why don’t you just eat three regular sized meals? It seems like your one meal each day could easily just be batch cooking for a few days.

The cheese intake is very high. The nuts is something I might eat 100g of every now and then but not daily. If you were eating more regular meals you might not feel the need to eat the cheese and nuts. Or try pairing them with an apple or oatcakes to make them a more complete snack?

JayJayj · 30/03/2026 20:46

You need to eat way smaller portions and more often. And stop with cheese. I bet your cholesterol is through the roof.

I can eat a 3 egg omelette, with peppers, tomatoes and a bit of mozzarella mixed in, and that would be a meal. I can’t imagine the meat you have with it as well.

i am overweight at 11st 1 (recently lost 10lb) I am 40. My cholesterol was 7.6 in October it’s now 5.4. That’s from cutting out cheddar and changing butter mainly. But I also eat more protein fist on my meals. I, in no way, ate like you do.

plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 20:48

It's hard work for your body to use protein and fats for quick energy. Some carbs might actually take the edge off the chronic hunger.

Goditsmemargaret · 30/03/2026 20:51

What a goady annoying thread. Are you over under or normal weight?

SouthernNights59 · 30/03/2026 20:53

Good grief!! I live alone and buy my cheese in 250g packs, and that lasts me over a week - and I love cheese!

As many others have said, where are the vegetables and fruit in your diet?

Honestly, we are constantly bombarded with advice on what we should and shouldn't be eating, how can you have reached your 40s and not know that your diet is very much the opposite of healthy? I eat far too much sweet stuff - but am cutting down because I know it's not good for me - so I'm not lecturing, but really your cheese and nuts intake is off the scale.

ChampagneLassie · 30/03/2026 20:55

I’ve read all your updates. Your diet sounds very ketogenic of which I’m a big fan. But must people done manage nearly so much calories. I’m struggling to imagine how you manage to eat this. I’d strongly suggest reintroducing vegetables for nutrients and fibre, and reducing the amount of fat/protein and particularly cheese. Reads up on Keto diets

its not goady and rhe answer is obvious. Anyone with a modicom of knowledge on nutrition knows this is an obese person. She doesn’t need to say it, it’s obvious, she’s a 5 foot 2 woman who is sedentary and who consumes 4-5000 cals a day. There is nothing she can be other than obese.

ReadingTime · 30/03/2026 20:58

This is a very odd diet OP. At your main meal, you’re eating enough food for 2 or 3 people. I would be uncomfortably full after eating all that, and I’m taller than you, quite greedy and a bit overweight.

You need more vegetables, particularly green veg, and more fruit. You’re probably deficient in lots of vitamins with eating so few vegetables.

I'm currently doing Slimming World and you're spot on. There are different weights for different types of cheese ~ it's recommended that you have some calcium everyday but the amounts are small. e.g. 2 standard babybel or 3 lighter babybel for anyone who wants to visualise the amount.

For nuts the amounts are ~
20 almonds
6 brazil nuts
15 cashew nuts
25 hazelnuts
11 pecan halves
40 pistachios
5 walnut halves

Slimming World also suggests filling your plate with at least one-third vegetables and/or fruit - I don't usually manage this for breakfast (!) but it's easier to achieve for lunch and always for dinner

I love a cheeseboard at Christmas or as part of an occasional buffet but the amount you are eating, OP, is absolutely insane

Best not to eat 6 brazil nuts on the daily - likely to lead to selenium toxicity

SixtySomething · 30/03/2026 21:00

Can you reply to the question about whether you are very over weight? Do you know your BMI? That's loads more calories than you need!

Evaka · 30/03/2026 21:01

If you're really eating over 3kg of cheese a week, do you ever poo?

FeelingSadToday1 · 30/03/2026 21:02

I think @ivyballis in a cheese coma and not able to reply.

i think she’ll come back and say she’s a size 6 and 8 stone…

Givemeausernamepls · 30/03/2026 21:02

My thoughts are you are eating very little (volume) food that is very high in calories. Majority of your calories come from fat.

450g cheese is 1800 calories, 100g nuts is about 600 calories.

I don’t know your size / height etc but for an average woman, suggests calorie intake is 2000.

What changes are you thinking of making?

plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 21:03

I think Big Protein has convinced people that protein is negative calories or something. Protein is 4kcal per gram, the same as carbs; fats are 9kcal per gram

ChampagneLassie · 30/03/2026 20:55

She won’t ever get into keto, she drinks 2 bottles of wine a week, so as soon as she gets in, she knocks herself out.

but it doesn’t matter as ultimately the sheer volume of cals she’s consuming would always see her either gain weight, or maintain a heavy weight, ultimately cals in trumps it, even if she is in keto as she needs to burn off what she consumes.

i suspect she’s attempted to do keto, or low carb, not understood it, and ended up gorging, I can’t even fathom a day eating half a kilo of beef then half a kilo of cheese.

plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 21:06

You might also find you're able to cut down on the wine if you add in some carbs and some fruit; as it is, your body will be desperately seeking the sugar in the wine.

plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 21:09

I would:

  • have half the amount of meat, and add a carb source and some fruit
  • halve the cheese, halve the nuts, accompany with houmous and crudites to get some vitamins and roughage whilst also getting crunch and umami
  • limit yourself to two or three caffeinated coffees. Do you put sugar/milk in the coffees?
  • reduce alcohol as much as possible - as I say, this may be easier if you're getting some carbs in your diet.
plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 21:12

I'm a protein evangelist but as a 5'2 sedentary woman, you don't need anywhere near this much protein. 1.2-1.5g protein per day, per pound of bodyweight should be more than adequate for someone who isn't weight training (if overweight/obese then use ideal weight to calculate)

plsdontlookatme · 30/03/2026 21:15

Nosejobnelly · 30/03/2026 13:24

Tbh my DS eats 4-5 eggs in a sitting, but he’s 6ft5. Even then I think it’s eggs(!)cessive.

😁I love "eggcessive"!

An egg is only about 75kcal and 7g protein - as a just-under-6ft woman I have 3 as a portion but I'd have more if I wasn't wary of getting the egg ick...

JumpinJehoshaphat · 30/03/2026 21:16

I feel queasy just reading it.

It’s extremely high in saturated fat, low in fibre and really high in calories. Very unhealthy.

She won’t get into keto as there is too much protein and carbs (nuts). Additionally keto only works as people eat less.

OP, you need to half the nuts and quarter the cheese. Also split the meal into 2 eg 4 egg omelette meal one. 2 pork chops and pepper sweet corn meal. 500g of mince would be 4 meals for me. 3 chicken thighs and 2 legs is 3 or 4 meals.
