This is what I’ve eaten over the last 7 days.
Does this seem like too much food to you or not a lot of food?
Female 5 foot 2.

Day 1

4 egg omelette with 2 pork chops and red pepper, sweet corn.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts spread out and picked on over the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 2

3 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with some veg.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts picked on throughout the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 3
4 egg omelette and pack of prawns, sweetcorn and spinach.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g bag of Mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 4
Half a roast chicken picked at.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheese and half a packet of 200g nuts to pick throughout the day.
5 cups of decaf coffee.

Day 5
4 fried eggs, mushrooms, an avocado, tomatoes and bacon.
Snacks - half a pack of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 6
500g diced beef fried with red pepper and mushrooms.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 7
1 Tin of tuna and salad.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half packet of 200g mixed nuts.
1 bottle of white wine.

2 fillets of salmon with green beans, broccoli and red pepper.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g packet of nuts.
5 cups of decaf coffee.
1 bottle of white wine.

I have used the term half a pack instead of (450g) cheese and 100g nuts because I thought people would be able to imagine a 900g block of cheese and 200g pack of nuts easier as that’s how they come.
Does this sound like too much food or not enough food please?
I typically eat one meal a day in the morning and pick on cheese and nuts sporadically for the rest of the day.
This is because I need to eat until I’m full or I will still feel hungry after so I eat a big main meal first thing as it works for me and I feel full.
The cheese and nuts are because of a craving for cheese. I love my cheese.

Was going to say that, the nuts and cheese are insanely calorific. You could have another decent protein-rich meal for far fewer calories.

Is the bottle of wine on one day or over the week?

Edited

She’s eating 3.5kg of cheese per week (14000 calories in cheese alone!). A bottle of wine is the least of her worries!

Enrichetta · 30/03/2026 16:45

You are 42 y.o. and 5’ 2” tall. It seems your weight is a secret.
You eat a diet that consists almost entirely of fat - meat plus an unfathomably high amount of cheese.
Plus a highly calorific amount of nuts.
Virtually no fruit and vegetables.
Your total calorific intake must be off the scale.
Not only do you not exercise, or even just walk, you lead a completely sedentary life.

And yet, somehow, you thought your diet is healthy?

I would suggest you do a bit of reading up on what is actually healthy, both in terms of diet and exercise. Michael Moseley has a big back catalogue of easily accessible books, TV programmes and podcasts. There’s also Zoe on YouTube.

What you cannot do is go on the way you have been. If you do, you are looking at developing…
gall stones
bowel polyps, bowel cancer
all kinds of other cancers
diabetes and all its complications (kidneys, cardiovascular, retinopathy)
heart disease
osteoporosis
osteoarthritis (due to excess weight and wear on joints)

Ultimately you’d be looking at years of chronic poor health. Or, if you’re less unlucky, a quick out via a heart attack.

You're still young - you can pull this around!

Planesmistakenforstars · 30/03/2026 16:46

I know loads of people have said it, but just for more emphasis: You're eating nearly half a kilo of cheese a day! Holy fucking shit!

kkloo · 30/03/2026 16:47

ivyball · 30/03/2026 12:25

Sorry if this seems like a weird post but I’m trying to make sense of a few things I probably have been in denial about which is why I wanted opinions for clarity, people have said things to me before and I’ve always just thought I had a great diet.

How much would you expect someone at 42 and had this diet for years to weigh?
Would you think it would cause weight gain or weight loss or not make any difference?

It's hard to know. I've done keto in the past, never for weight loss, just for inflammation, because I've always been slim with a very rigid weight set point and I could eat that and not gain, but many people still do need to track calories somewhat even if not as strictly as they would on a normal diet and almost half a kilo of cheese a day is a LOT so I'd probably expect a lot of people to be overweight eating that and 100g of nuts per day, but then I know myself that it would be possible for some to eat it and be slim.

Parentofstudent · 30/03/2026 16:13

It’s not especially high protein but it’s very high fat

425g of cheddar cheese is about 120g protein, according to Mfp. Then add in a whole pack of mince, the eggs, tins of tuna and nuts it certainly is a high protein diet. Not that I think there's anything good about OP's diet. I don't know how much protein she'd actually be absorbing with 0 fibre

Is this rage bait?

Not a chance this is genuine

DeanElderberry · 30/03/2026 16:51

It is a very narrow and unvaried diet. Nowhere near the recommended 30 different plant foods a week. OP, talk to your GP and see can you get a consultation with a qualified dietician (not a nutritionist) who can work with you to design a food regime that you would enjoy and that would be good for .

Girlwithavibe · 30/03/2026 16:52

It actually depends if your trying to lose weight or gain weight or maintain !!

That is a lot of saturated fat. Have you had your cholesterol checked?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 30/03/2026 16:42

I suspect she's in complete denial about the cause of her obesity. Her family are telling her that it's her diet but she's completely deluded herself that she's only having one meal a day and snacking on a bit of cheese and some nuts, so they can't possibly right. This thread was supposed to validate her delusion, but it hasn't, it's shone a light on it. Not saying her weight is her last defence against the delusion being shattered.

I wouldn't be surprised if that OP has been saying to everyone for years that she eats very healthily and only one meal a day, so it must be a metabolic problem or a hormone imbalance causing her weight.

Unfortunately, there's been a culture for quite some time where it's politically incorrect to suggest that if you are overweight it's because you eat too much and a whole bunch of misinformation on the internet telling people that it's nothing to do with eating too many calories and instead starvation mode, eating at the wrong time or UPFs.

Rhubarb24 · 30/03/2026 16:59

Have you had your vitamin d levels checked?

My vitamin d levels drop after I have iron infusions (due to heavy periods from fibroids) and I crave cheese. My parathyroid levels go mental and so does my serum calcium levels.

My b12 levels are 211 ng/L (reference range 197-771 ng/L) (got checked this month), so not officially deficient but very low for someone who eats meat, fish, eggs and dairy, takes supplements (BetterYou spray) and barely drinks 🤷🏼‍♀️ but that may explain why I crave dairy, and it may explain why you crave cheese. Omega 3 deficiency can cause it too.

I've banned my husband from buying Aldi extra mature cheese on his way home from work as it is really greasy. I can't imagine the cheaper Essentials range being much better, so I'd get your blood cholesterol levels checked.

You need to drink more water and maybe take a mulvitamin, especially vitamin C as you are not eating much fruit or many vegetables. Being sedentary and craving cheese would make me worry about osteomalacia and osteoporosis. You need to start walking in the evening. Walking to the fridge and back to get cheese isn't enough. And consider lifting weights. You need to load your bones.

If you are overweight, you can still be malnourished. Malnutrition doesn't always equal skinny.

SomethingFun · 30/03/2026 17:00

I think you’re probably a bit deficient in cheese there op 😁

ItsNotMeEither · 30/03/2026 17:03

Honestly, I feel like we are trying to answer, without many pieces of the puzzle.

I would suggest a session or two with a qualified dietician. If you can't see one locally, plenty will do zoom type sessions. I'd find a dietician and send them the 7 days you've added here.

Then let them know your goals. Are you trying to be healthy? Reduce cholesterol? Lose or maintain weight etc.

They will be used to people with different issues, so if you really insist on one meal a day and then snacks, they will be able to help you with the best way to do this healthily for you.

NigellaDelia · 30/03/2026 17:07

@ivyball

You've received some really good advice here. It's a shame you've been so selective in replying as many of the PP's would have been able to help you further if you had given them a bit more information

Have you decided on a way forward?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/03/2026 17:13

I’m stunned at the cheese - I have 30g sometimes 45g in an ommlette or on spag bol. - you have 10 times that amount every day

same with nuts. Have 30g and you have 3 times that a day every day

mince. I make 5 portions out of 500g

if not active and eat that amount of cheese daily I’m amazed you aren’t really fat or unhealthy

it’s not a healthy diet !

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/03/2026 17:17

ivyball · 30/03/2026 15:48

That’s interesting, I used to have what felt like an imaginary sweat when I ate cheese and get a rash on my forehead but when I touched my face there was no real sweat there just a mild tingling sensation and if I touched the rash it would go flaky.
I also have a lot of hair loss which I put down to nutrition deficiency but maybe that’s why I need cheese. I don’t get this now I eat so much of it.

Edited

Surely you don’t think this, not really, that eating so much cheese is ensuring you’re not nutrient deficient? It’s the protein, that helps your hair, there are healthier ways to eat protein, you will still be nutrient deficient.

I think it’s clear you’re very obese, it would be impossible not to be consuming this much, the issue here is your lack of nutrition knowledge, I’m genuinely not sure how irs possible to have so little knowledge, it appears even your family has been telling you but you’ve not believed them.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 30/03/2026 17:19

I’d be hellishly constipated on that.

Lalalalalalalalalalaoohoohwee · 30/03/2026 17:26

According to google there are around 1800 calories in 450g of cheese and every day you're eating between 2 and 5 times the recommended amount of fat and saturated in just cheese alone. I've seen some strange diets and this is definitely one of those. Instead of 3 balanced meals you're eating one very large meal then basically snacking for the rest of the day to keeo the hunger away. You're also binge drinking. You're having high amounts of protein and fat and minimal carbs, feesh fruit and veg. I'm not a doctor but I'd imagine your risk of heart disease is really high. Hopefully you havent been eating like this for a long time and you're prepared to make some changes. If you dont know where to start then ask your GP for a referral to a dietician.

The recommended limit for fat doesn't really count on keto because you're running your body on fat rather than carbs.

Of course it counts! Lol, that's just some ridiculous made up stuff keto fanatics spout to justify a terrible diet.
