To be shocked at my friend's greed?

johnso · 18/06/2008 16:56

I had to meet someone for lunch today and ds6 was off school ill.
I asked a friend who has a son in ds's class to look after him at my house and she agreed.
So she turns up with her toddler twins and I leave 10 mins late after showing her where things are for lunch etc.
I was back a bit later than expected but was totally shocked to find nearly a whole loaf gone!
She ate all of my fruit and still accepted when I sarcastically offered her a biscuit!!
She is quire overweight and obviously over eating.
Should I mention something?

hwo do you know she ate it all, and it was not her and the children too?

she looks after your DS and you begrudge her some bread and fruit. and call her greedy

shame on you

Squirdle · 18/06/2008 16:58

How nice she is to look after your ill DS plus her twins whilst you off enjoying yourself. I'm not that nice.

2shoes · 18/06/2008 16:58

sorry I thought she was your freind.
what is that saying.......with freinds like you........

Flashman · 18/06/2008 16:58

Not if you still want a friend!

thebecster · 18/06/2008 16:59

There were four of them for lunch, with her toddler twins and ds6, so she didn't eat it all did she? And she looked after your kid for you when you were stuck. So yes, YABU. If you can't spare your friend a loaf of bread and some fruit then you don't value her very much.

Squirdle · 18/06/2008 16:59

And I really would hate to have you as a friend!

notwavingjustironing · 18/06/2008 16:59

aah, this is one of those "say something outrageous and watch them go" threads isn't it? I'm beginning to catch onto them now. Excellent.

OrmIrian · 18/06/2008 17:00

Are you joking?

A whole loaf and some fruit doesn't seem that much of a repayment for looking after your child.

iMum · 18/06/2008 17:00

Its not a great deal really, a loaf doesnt go that far wth all those mouths to feed.
I think you are being very unfair and ungrateful.

As put by Lulu, shame on you.

Kewcumber · 18/06/2008 17:00

get used to things disappearing, you're about to pay a cleaner £2 an hour I suspect you will find a few things gone soon.

By all means say something to her. I assume you won't ever need a favour from her again.

TotalChaos · 18/06/2008 17:01

babysitting and lunchdate for the price of a loaf of bread and some fruit - sounds like a bargain to me.

notwavingjustironing · 18/06/2008 17:01

and the "overweight" comment, just for added teeth sucking....

Lauriefairycake · 18/06/2008 17:01

god, that childcare sounds really expensive

meemar · 18/06/2008 17:01

YABU - you showed her where the food presumably so she could eat.

one adult and 3 children can easily get through nearly a whole loaf and some fruit.

OrmIrian · 18/06/2008 17:01

In fact I wish I'd known that was the going rate when I employed a CM.

Squirdle · 18/06/2008 17:01

yes, notwavingjustironing and Johnso seems to start them all.

Is it called being a regular troll??

Janos · 18/06/2008 17:01

Am I alone in hoping toddlers smeared jam all over johnsos furnishings and scattered breadcrumbs underneath the sofa cushions?

MinkyBorage · 18/06/2008 17:02

don't ask her again, look after your own blardy children!

you are most likely very right

JeremyVileSponsoredByPembsLass · 18/06/2008 17:02

I think Johnso is a wind-up merchant.

reethi96 · 18/06/2008 17:02

Do you have many friends? I hope that these responses demonstrate to you that you need to take a hard look at yourself. I actually think you are the greedy one.

ELR · 18/06/2008 17:03

the greedy cow

notwavingjustironing · 18/06/2008 17:03

But that's not her problem, that will be the £2 an hour cleaner's problem

sparklesandnowinefor4months · 18/06/2008 17:03

johnso - i've read a few of your posts recently, are you just on a bit of a wind up and trying to provoke people at the moment?

Squirdle · 18/06/2008 17:03

Some people obviously have waaaay too much time on their hands......
