Dog wee (sorry!!)

Am I the only person who thinks that dogs weeing everywhere is really horrid. I know people pick up poo after their pets, but dog wee up lamp posts, gateposts, walls, hedges, fences, trees, even just on the grass seems really nasty too, especially if you have children who like to run and roll on the grass, or to poke about in tree roots etc. And there are so many dogs everywhere these days!

I think that in Spain dog owners have to carry a water bottle with you to wash or dilute the dog wee. Does anyone know if that is true?

For all that think it's fine - I'll just come and take a poo in your garden and pee up your car door and while we're at it, I'll wipe my pooey hands all over your trousers and lick all your food if you're out walking and holding lolly that I can reach..

I hate the dog-owning culture (not the animals' fault). It's a bit insane. Just this one animal, bred solely to keep as a slave, and the rest of non slave animal owning society is just expected to be okay walking in public spaces like parks which is just expected to be their toilet.

Tell you what, dog owners, how about you let the dog poop in your garden and house and not public spaces? And pls spare me the "other animals poop outisde" baloney - dogs are domesticated. They don't ecologically poop and pee outside in little discreet nooks, cover it up, etc (like other animals) they just poop and pee wherever like a hapless drunk.

When Iet my kid playing in the grass I'm gambling with the v probable notion that they will be rolling in dog wee and poo. I don't see any squirrel poo on the grass, and pigeons, well, yes they're Considered vermin that we tolerate.
Whenever I see pop, it's dogs'.

I don't think your right to have a cuddly, sycophantic slave outweighs my right to public sanitation, especially for children. And that's not even getting to the unecological wasteful side of it all (dog food meat production).

Not sorry. 😊

Rain washes it and foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels, birds, rabbits, insects shit and pee all over grass as well this is so strange it annoys you

It doesn’t way off vertical surfaces unless it’s torrential. It boils down to lazy dog owners who would hate pee on the walls of their own property, but don’t mind it on the property of others!

WearyAuldWumman · 30/03/2026 13:48

i note that on another thread, dog owners have helpfully advised someone dog sitting that they should take the dog for a walk, rather than having it use their own garden as a toilet.

PinkCatCushion · 30/03/2026 13:50

Totally agree OP. It’s really gross. One dog owner near me always lets his dog wee on the edge of my front garden.
I think it’s disgusting.
Recently I was in the town centre and a dog wee’d on a bollard and the urine ran all down it and across the pavement. Dog owner wasn’t remotely bothered and just paused to let it wee then merrily carried on. Didn’t even dilute it with water to try and wash it away.

PinkCatCushion · 30/03/2026 13:59

Youknowitactuallymakessense · 29/03/2026 13:54

Dogs wee multiple times on a walk. To wash the wee away with a bottle of water, some people would need to take a lot of water on their dog walks.
Dog owners already take poo bags, lead, maybe a ball, ball thrower, treats, and now you want them to cart a huge bottle of water around too?
Along with their house keys, mobile phone, maybe a pair of gloves if it's cold?

Maybe dog owners need to invest in a small suitcase on wheels in order to take their dogs on a walk?

Or just don’t have a dog?
We are in the middle of a climate crisis and dogs have a high carbon paw print.
They might be nice to have but they are a luxury the planet cannot afford.
Assistance and working dogs are different of course - they are a necessity not a luxury.

Near me, dogs are doing terrible damage to a precious chalk stream. Owners just let their dogs go in the stream to paddle or to fetch sticks (the owners are actually encouraging their dogs to go into the stream) but the flea treatments are killing everything in the stream. Chalk streams are so rare, it’s awful to see them being destroyed by dogs (or more accurately by their owners).

Other things that are a luxury in the middle of a climate crisis

  • plane travel
  • extreme day trips
  • humans consuming as much meat as we do
  • Water firms flushing sewage into streams and the sea for millions of hours every year
  • fast fashion
  • decorating your house to suit the latest fashion
  • single use plastic
  • diamond and gold jewellery
  • Christmas tat
  • Easter tat
  • Excessive packaging

We could just not do any of those things.

"They don't ecologically poop and pee outside in little discreet nooks, cover it up, etc (like other animals) they just poop and pee wherever like a hapless drunk."

Squirrels, rats and mice pee constantly as they move about. Trails of it everywhere they go.

Badgers, foxes, deer and otters make multiple pee and poo beacons in obvious places to mark their territory, often spraying especially pungent pee around liberally to mark territory. Hedgehogs wee and poo everywhere and anywhere as they move about.

Squirrels generally like to take a poo in high places, like on trees, so the reason you don't see it is that it's not on the ground, it's falling onto your hat.

Your idea that wild animals have' discreet nooks' is way off the mark. The world is literally their toilet.

Anyone who has ever tried giving a command to a dog that isn't theirs will know that dogs are independent minded creatures with an eye to the man chance. Slaves they are not.

To be fair, I don't fly, I buy my clothes second hand, I make decorations for Christmas and Easter using natural stuff (or keep the same things for decades - our tree is an artificial one from the 70s that a friend found in their loft when they moved into a new house), I don't do precious metals, and I am vegetarian. What I find astonishing is that horse riders are allowed to just leave horse poo everywhere. Where we live there are loads of horses and they just leave huge piles of poo on paths and even pavements. And apparently this is entirely socially acceptable as well 🤷🏼‍♀️

When an animal is domesticated, people should take responsibility for it. They take responsibility for not leaving dog shit everywhere, even though wild animals do poo where they like. So that argument is already null and void.

I think you're reaching now. Yes, of course other animals poop outside in their natural habitat. But I don't ever see badgers or deer in inner city public parks, and have never seen one taking a poop. In fact, I've only ever seen dogs and horses poop out public walking spaces.

Again, animals that are naturally out there tend to have their spaces. And the amount of times I've seen dogs pooping in public spaces, compared to other animals is almost 100% (horses). So I just don't think the argument holds any water.

Dogs use public parks as a toilet. Kids use it as a playground. Put the two together and it is obviously absurd.

And if you don't think it's absurd, please let me know if you're okay for my dog to come and poop in your little one's playroom and I'll be happy to oblige and eat my words. I will get a dog for this express purpose if anyone takes me up on it.

Otherwise, just be bold enough to admit, dog owners: you are being very selfish, a bit like the drunk glutton at the party grabbing everyone's food and drink, barging into them and vomiting and peeing everywhere.

In the UK rain will wash it away. Female dogs tend to piss downwards not up things as they squat.

I find it more gross when fully grown adults feel the need ( mainly men!)to piss everywhere. Just use toilets you skanky gits, public, pubs, garages, shops..not a lay by, not the town centre, not walls outside shops.

And lifts! There is always stinky pee in the lift to my train station, and once a massive poo, a human one I'm sure, and i just know it's NEVER women who do this

Bertiebiscuit · 09/04/2026 12:56

bunnyvsmonkey · 28/03/2026 22:31

I'd rather focus on stopping men pissing outside first. I don't understand why they piss in stairs wells and lifts for example. Why not go at least in a drain?

And stop getting their dicks out to pee in my park, they're shameless. Lazy dirty ar*eholes

Once you make peace with the fact pretty much everything you touch has human fecal matter on it, you don’t really worry about stuff like this.

Especially as men never wash their hands after using the toilet 😩

The argument seems to be that wild animals piss everywhere, so we shouldn't worry about dogs pissing everywhere. But we don't like it when humans do. I, personally, would argue that humans should be responsible and not piss in public places where other humans walk and play. I would also argue that humans should be responsible and not let their dogs piss in public places where other humans walk and play. Humans are responsible for their dog's behaviour, just as they are for their own behaviour. They are not responsible for the behaviour of wild animals.

If taking responsibility means taking them to a designated kids play area, park, and directing them to sh#t there, then yes, that is correct.
This does nit null and void the argument in any way. The arrogance if stating such makes me think you own multiple animal, resource burning poop slaves, I mean dogs.

Its everywhere here. It looks like dog poo but has a completely different smell.
I had 3 in my front garden over the last month!
