£1.25 for a Wispa!! What grocery prices have given you a shock lately?

I nipped down to the shop this morning to buy some tea bags. In the opposite aisle, all the chocolate bars were lined up. I don't buy chocolate generally, but a Wispa bar winked at me. I took it to the till - £1.25 for a Wispa bar that is easily 2/3 of the size of the Wispa bars of my childhood.

I exclaimed to the cashier, who I know, and we had a nice conversation with another customer about rising prices, the cost of cereal shooting up, fuel, of course...it got me thinking.

What prices have you been shocked by when you're doing your shopping? My tins of tomatoes seem very stable at 47p per tin (I could get them for 43p but can't be bothered to get the tin opener out so I'm happy to pay a 4p ring-pull tax).

I still can’t believe I paid nearly 3 pounds for a can of water at a local theatre once. I should have taken my own in, but I didn’t think of it.

Are you allowed to take tinned eg g&t drinks into theatres? Because it sort of sticks in my gullet the prices they charge. Last time was seeing nephew at Stagecoach production I needed that gin to get through it!

I think that many people smuggle in drinks to theatres and cinemas now. Ds2 goes to the pictures a lot and doesn’t even disguise the bag of goods in takes in . Festivals and gigs tend to check the bags at the doors he said, but cinemas don’t tend to.
We had some sandwiches and water confiscated at a theme park in Spain 25 years ago. I was so annoyed about that! It was heartbreaking throwing out the hotel picnic.

My friend used to stroll in with a bowl of homemade popcorn under her arm!

If you look at the FAQs of many cinemas, they say you can take your own food and drink in, but not hot food or alcohol. You don't need to smuggle it.

If it were a family-run independent, then I'd buy their snacks as they don't make as much money on the ticket prices.

Although, I'd usually use meerkat movies and go to poundland before! Couple of packs of sweet and salty popcorn, some maltesers and my ninja thirsti full of ice cold juice 👌🏻
