Those moaning about kids actually playing outside are probably the same snobby cows who moan about kids being glued to screens.

@Sonato I dread it every year. Same old faces I haven’t had to see all winter doing the same old selfish shit. Bomp bomp bomp of the fucking ball. Kids running about screaming until all hours. Knocking on doors. Whacking my fence. Roll on October.

All this. To add that my evening dog walks are now spoiled by adults and children appearing out of nowhere. Kids running towards dogs, scooters charging at them and/or kids wanting to pet them. Where were you all in the freezing cold, wet dark evenings? Peace gone for a few months😤

Alicew5 · 26/03/2026 20:17

It’s good kids are out playing, too many stuck indoors on games these days!

TeenLifeMum · 26/03/2026 20:21

Whosthetabbynow · 26/03/2026 16:46

Unless you live amongst unparented ferals you have no idea. It’s not all unicorns and rainbows where we live

My dd dances in a different part of town and last summer I walked the dog there while she was dancing. The noise and shrieking dc was way beyond being acceptable. I’ve never heard anything like it. Suddenly I understood the mn threads about this.

I caveat this with the fact I have 3 dc who I always felt were loud but it was happy giggles and calling to each other, not shrieking. I can see how those who’ve not experienced it don’t grasp how bad living by unparented dc can be.

Userjal · 26/03/2026 20:21

These poor kids can’t win they ‘shouldn’t be inside all the time on tablets/phones/games etc’ they ‘can’t play in their own back garden incase they annoy their neighbour’ ‘shouldn’t have a tablet in a restaurant but god forbid if they move or cause a noise’ ‘shouldn’t be in a pub’, tbh I do agree with that one. What do people want them to do? Hide inside in silence until they turn 18?

ERthree · 26/03/2026 20:24

DinoLil · 26/03/2026 16:31

They go forward, not back.

And if you have children and a garden, why can't they play out?

Nobody said they can't play out

My kids play out, even on the mn hated trampoline. However, they don’t shriek and don’t hit balls against a neighbour’s fence. Surely you can see that there’s a difference and understand how upsetting anti social behaviour is. Or are you the kind of selfish cow whose precious dc can do no wrong and allows these behaviours? 🤔

I'm not normally that fussed by background noise, but when I am I just put some classical music on - via headphones, if needed.

Like many things in life, if you do what's within your power and accept what you can't change you end up much happier than if you just rage and seethe about it...

Lol...

You: "oh just put on headphones and ignore it!"

Also you: reports my repeated whump whump whump reply😂

I was making a serious point, although it apparently went over your (or whoever reported it)'s head.

The serious point is that just as having someone post whump whump whump whump repeatedly on a thread is annoying, having someone kick a ball against the wall of your house on and on and on is bloody annoying.

Whump whump whump!

MummyWillow1 · 26/03/2026 20:35

Our garden borders a park with a skateboard ramp and a basketball court. We have bikes, skateboards, balls all summer. It really is good to hear the kids having proper fun.

What does go through me the kids who seem to think it is fun to shriek like they are being murdered. But they soon stop.

What is more annoying is next to the park are allotments, and people burn garden waste a billion times a year which then puts soot on my washing and makes it smell like I’ve been camping. Plus makes my house smell.

BatchCookBabe · 26/03/2026 20:41

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/03/2026 19:57

Ah here’s someone who lets their kids express themselves 🤣

Yes, you can tell who has all the 'spirited children' on here ...

It's ludicrous to be calling people 'miserable' for not wanting to listen to a thud thud thud of a football against a fence, (or a garage door,) and not wanting to listen to shrill, high-pitched screams from children. That is not just children playing, no-one minds that.

A poster asked 'why do some parents let their children just scream and scream outside?' Answer: because they don't care. They don't care about the neighbours, and the effect their feral brats are having on people, and they don't care about their children.

Far easier to shove their children outside onto the trampoline, or cheap plastic swing and slide set, let them kick balls at fences and garage doors, or whizz up and down the footpaths on little scooters running into elderly and disabled people, (whilst screaming blue murder for no reason whatsover,) than to actually spend time with them. The parents of these young children are far too busy on their phone/tikrok/instagram/talking to their mates/watching Netflix, and basically doing ANYthing but parenting their own children.

Thankfully there is only one such family in my road of 16 properties like this, and they don't live next door to me, but the kids do charge up and down the road some days, just screaming blue fecking murder, so you can't hear yourself think.

And NO I am not buying noise cancelling headphones! I shouldn't have to!

.

Sorry to disappoint but I didn't report you, or even find your posts particularly annoying! I got that you were trying to make a point - it was hardly a work of great subtlety...

Encouraging your children to play outside whenever the weather is fine enough to is actually great parenting, Gardens are literally made for playing in! I highly suggest you move to a more isolated house if kids playing in their own gardens bother you! Bet you don’t live in a little bungalow either probably a house then surprised at having families living around you, actual sociopath.

Ha no, not subtle at all. About as subtle as a football against a house wall!

I am glad it wasn't you, but in that case it is such a shame it's gone.

I might get my ball out again after my tea and start another one.

Do you really actually seriously think that kids screaming blue murder and kicking their footballs repeatedly against the garden fence or garage door is 'just kids playing?' I despair! Maybe the families with these out of control kids who have no control over the volume of their voices and screaming should move to a 'more isolated house' in a big field!

Weirdly, I love the sound of kids playing in their gardens and people generally enjoying the lighter evenings. Even if I’m in bed, I enjoy the sounds.
That’s particularly odd because I’m not in the slightest bit child friendly! But kids playing (not screaming!) makes me feel happy and content. I love when you can hear the splashing of a paddling pool and kids laughing. It must remind me of my childhood or something.
It’s a sound that I think is getting less and less, which is sad.

Well yeah, exactly. I have never heard anyone - in real life - comment or complain about kids spending time 'on screens..' Only on TV do I see all these concerns. (And on MN occasionally!) In real life, very few people care. And as you say, at least (if the parents CBA with them,) it keeps them occupied, and stops them from annoying people in the neighbourhood with their shrill screaming and kicking footballs at garden fences.

It’s not unacceptable to play in your own garden. I love hearing people in their gatdens. Better than neighbours arguing

EXACTLY! Normal playing, splashing in the pool, giggling and general chasing about is fine! The little girl next door to me and DH (aged 4) was in her little inflatable pool (when it was 20 degrees C) last week. She was laughing, and singing, and splashing the water around, and her dad was squirting water over her with the hosepipe, and chasing her around the garden, and she was riding her little tricycle about, and it was lovely to hear and see.

THAT is children playing, not shrill, piercing, LOUD screaming, and footballs bang bang bang bang banging against garden fences. Relentlessly. They need to do this in the park. The parents need to take them to the park, not shove them outside on their own with no supervision, because they CBA with them!

Ah here’s someone who lets their kids express themselves 🤣

Usual obvious response of course that I must be one of the inconsiderate parents that lets their kids screech outdoors all spring and summer long. Ah yes, sure they’re out howling at the moon at the moment, it’s good for them, helps them to exercise their lungs

LydiaFunnyGums · 26/03/2026 21:02

See that doesn’t really bother me. It the stench of cannabis that seems to be everywhere that pisses me off! Selfish fucking fuckers!

There are some miserable fuckers on this thread. Complaining about children playing outside. Off you fuck to the pine forest if you don’t want to be disturbed by other people living in close proximity to you. Or get some earplugs/ headphones.

Haha. It’s even more miserable than that though. The entire thread is predicated on simply ANTICIPATING kids pissing them off in the near future. What a waste of head space.
