am i being being unreasonable at finding the vanity fair Oscar party shots hilarious-I have just seen the daily mail article. it has made my day seeing all that money, surgery and effort spent and they still look like I would do! I loved the Kim Kardashian one especially! what a reality check after all the filtered pictures we see! I want to pin the fake and real pics up my wardrobe to cheer me ip every morning when I look in the mirror!

If you need cheering up every time you look in the mirror I don't think these people can help you.

But I guess if this sort of thing makes you happy, you won't be alone considering your fellow Daily Mail readers can often be a strange bunch (to put it politely).

I agree op. I actually prefer the ‘normal’ shots. Who are they trying to kid? Just embrace beautiful imperfection.

I don’t think you realise how pervasive the filters are and how much it influences you as to what is normal and what isn’t. So when you see reality ie unstaged unflattering light it is shocking how normal celebrities look - nothing special at all.

Thanks - this was the article I looked at - I honestly don’t think they look much different.

Vera Wang is 77 - I think she looks bloody fabulous ! There’s very little difference between the photos really - and in Kris Jenners case she looks better in the more natural photo

I don’t think they look bad at all. Honestly, it’s nice to see wrinkles and skin texture instead of the photoshopped to perfection we usually see. I think they all looked great - including the Kardashians!

I’ve very little interest in the Kardashians so something must have happened that I missed - but that doesn’t look like Kim in any way, shape or form, in either picture. Jjust me?? I wouldn’t recognise her.

Agree with pp that Kris looks nicer in the Vanity Fair photo. A bit of softness to her look suits her.

I think they look just as good as they’re in their normal pictures. They basic face shapes are the same, but perhaps lighting is a bit less flattering. And you can see some have had surgery.

How old are you out of interest OP? this is the kind of post I would’ve written when I was in my early 20s, and deeply insecure.

Also, I do realise how heavy the use of filters is. But I just sort of know that, it would never occur to me. Look at a picture like that and judge myself against it. Perhaps that’s an age thing, I’m in my early 40s.

Quite cheering to see that they look normal. Although if I were Kim I would be having a word with my make up artist.

I didn’t think the light was unforgiving…just that the photos weren’t filtered? These people must own mirrors and must know what they actually look like. They must see their own original photos prior to photoshopping them. This can’t have been a surprise for them.

if this story is true then it just shows how vain and desperate people have become.
i am often shocked when I see how fast the ageing process is affecting my face since i hit menopause and wish i could turn back the clock but i can’t afford the treatments and injectables that seem to be th norm now so i just get on with it really.
even if i could afford all that, i dont think i could devote th time to it and my ultimate aim would never to be to look like a waxwork automaton .
I don’t have social media anymore but I never used filters when I had it, I’ve had too many shocks when I’ve met people irl who I’ve only seen online before.
w laugh but also I think it is incredibly sad how much we have been told that our natural is not good enough

I agree. Kris looks fine with her wrinkles. She's a beautiful woman. And looks great naturally for her age.

You’re pretty gullible if you thought their Instagram images were an accurate depiction of their complexion in real life. But also, if your enjoyment comes from laughing at other people’s appearance when it doesn’t live up to your expectations, that says more about you than their imperfect skin says about them.

Er...Im not sure shes aging naturally given she just spent £100,000 on some sort of procedure. She looks good though.

I’m with you OP. Gave me a good chuckle. Heidi Klum and the Jenner/Kardashian matriarch in particular. It’s a good reminder that it’s all smoke and mirrors.
