am i being being unreasonable at finding the vanity fair Oscar party shots hilarious-I have just seen the daily mail article. it has made my day seeing all that money, surgery and effort spent and they still look like I would do! I loved the Kim Kardashian one especially! what a reality check after all the filtered pictures we see! I want to pin the fake and real pics up my wardrobe to cheer me ip every morning when I look in the mirror!

I’m not daft enough to think these people really look like their filtered pictures but it’s encouraging for those of us who can’t afford/don’t want procedures that they look relatively normal in reality.

A Daily Mail article attacking women's looks? Shocking

MidnightPatrol · 20/03/2026 08:01

I mean even with a lot of work - some of these ladies are just older, that they look about 20 (not 50-70!) is unlikely even with the best surgeons on the planet…!

Shows how edited most of the photos we see are.

Thanks - this was the article I looked at - I honestly don’t think they look much different.

Me neither 🤷‍♀️

I suspect if ‘normal’ people were photographed in poor light, they’d look far worse.

fashionqueen0123 · 20/03/2026 19:07

Someone commented on a 1990s Oscar video the other day saying something along the lines of ‘wasn’t it nice when celebs looked normal with normal teeth and normal faces&lips!’

I’ve very little interest in the Kardashians so something must have happened that I missed - but that doesn’t look like Kim in any way, shape or form, in either picture. Jjust me?? I wouldn’t recognise her.

Agree with pp that Kris looks nicer in the Vanity Fair photo. A bit of softness to her look suits her.

She’s wearing blue contacts, changes her look completely I agree

Well, of course they don’t want people to know what they really look like, and might get upset at being exposed…..mainly because of things like this thread…with horrible people gleefully discussing how they look. Multiply that by millions and I expect most people would not be happy.
Celebrities are in fact normal people. Normal people tend to be affected when insulted repeatedly about their looks or the crime of looking older. Some women are fucking vicious about other women’s looks or bodies. It’s pathetic.

I cannot believe how many people have spectacularly missed the point. These people are paid huge sums of money to manufacture and sell dreams to us plebs so we buy and consume products that we don’t need or make us happy long term as a result of the constant drip feed of how we should look, dress, lifestyle and defy aging. Hollywood is of course, the ultimate dream factory. I love the fact these pictures highlight the whole charade and they really look normal and yet think they look so hideous they have to hide it! That’s what is so funny - these doyennes of fashion and beauty who pronounce on matters of style etc, in reality look no better than my colleagues and me on a works do dressed up for the night. It’s the emperor has no clothes imo.

Heidi Klum - supermodel who looks mum from school run
Kim Kardashian - looks like office vamp a bit worse for wear at end of night
Kris Kardashian -looks like glamorous grannie
Vera Wang - well preserved granny ( and for a fashion designer her dress does not hang at well)
Rose Byrne - student temping

They are the ones who say it’s not alright to look normal and they are special because they don’t age, get fat and clothes look fab-u-lous on them unlike us plebs. They just look that great normally is the subliminal message when they post on social media. I know filters are ubiquitous on social media and really how unachievable/abnormal the looks they are promoting but they still eat into your psyche.

So I will continue to LMAO as they aren’t special and I like to be reminded of that and to not buy expensive crap that I don’t actually need, and focus on my real priorities.
