Or the best compliment you've ever gotten?

(Posted here for traffic, teehee)

I feel so uplifted right now after just having one of the most pleasant social exchanges of my life. Without being too outing, I was just speaking to someone I know, who I will not be able to see anymore, and she said to me "you are one of the sweetest souls I've ever had the pleasure to meet. It is so clear to see that your children love you and I admire you fighting so fiercely for them despite everything you've got going on".

I honestly was tearful at this and am again thinking about it now. It can make such a difference to someone who has no support system and does quite literally everything for their family alone. Having someone show such kindness and love really made me feel seen, and like its not all just done in virtue. Its nice to be recognised sometimes and has given me such a boost to continue in life in general, with a positive attitude.

A favourite compliment that I get is being called funny, I like making people laugh and always has. Always makes me feel good when someone says it.

So, whats the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you? And / or the best compliment you've ever received?

My brother once said to me I'd have been in the SOE which boosted me enormously (we don't do compliments). They'd have had to physically push me out of the plane to get me to France but once there I'd have fought tooth and nail for justice so I guess he was right.

This is nothing to do with war...but brothers lol:
Back in the early 90s I sang a solo at my olders sister's wedding in the church (I was 18 and also one of her bridesmaids). At the end of the ceremony, my older brother (who never gave me compliments and bullied me mercilessly) looked at me in a kind of in awe (an expression I'd never seen in his face before) and said "Well, you might not be able to drive (I'd just failed my driving test) but you can bloody sing". Coming from him, a huge critic, that was a massive compliment (probably the only one I ever got from him). I'll take it. 😁

Not your usual compliment but both my children have told me they think I would make an excellent assassin.

I was looking for a job and some of my teenage children's friends said they thought my perfect job would be hostage negotiator.

When I had my first child, my dad was at the hospital, it was us alone in the room just for 5 mins (with the baby), I was feeling euphoric - and he said now you finally understand how I feel about you. Always will remember it ❤️

This has just made me tear up. What a lovely Dad you have ❤
