Just get mounjaro!

The more threads I read, the more and more posters seem to respond with “just get mounjaro” for posters wanting to lose as little as 10 lbs to get within a healthy BMI. More traditional methods of weight loss appear to be out of fashion and as though you’d be foolish to do it the perceived hard way when you can just inject a drug.
I was reading a thread where a poster had a BMI of just over 25 who was told to just get WLIs. What happened to them being for those who are obese?
Is this the way things are going now? Gained a few pounds over Christmas or on holiday? Just inject and don’t worry about it!
Anybody going against the grain of weight loss injections is often accused of being jealous. It’s a bit cult like on some threads as though WLI are the only valid way to lose weight and you’d be foolish to try any other way because “diets don’t work” and just adopting a healthier diet and lifestyle is laughable; a fool’s game and you’ll end up fat again. Well, yes, if you go back to your old habits, just like any method of weight loss.

Just a bit of a rant really on this sunny Tuesday!

Whenever I see adverts for MJ the people are normal sized & in my opinion don’t need it. Then look at Kelly Osbourne!

however, there is a tiktok for MJ users where it has clearly changed people’s lives from using it. Then you have other people using it but doing tiktoks of them eating how they were previously so not learning new habits.

It really runs the risk of becoming a tool for people with disordered eating to abuse. I think it definitely needs to be restricted to those who need it & need to lose a significant amount of weight.

Why are you bothered about how people choose to lose weight? It has absolutely no impact on you whatsoever. A classic case of mind your own business. Weight loss and health is between a person and their medical provider.

this. Why do you give it any headroom?

But that's not what is happening. People with diabetes who have been using these drugs for 20 years are not having serious side effects which are impacting the NHS.

Obesity is causing and will continue to cause huge strain to the NHS.

We live in an extremely fat phobic society and this is the main issue, people won't admit it though. For the first time in modern society and medicine, people who struggle with their weight are finally becoming successful at weight loss and society doesn't like it because they dont get to feel better than them anymore. It's uncomfortable but it's true.

The cause of the majority of obesity in the world is sugar.

Consecutive government have known that for decades and have done nothing to restrict its use across the food chain.

Sugar was known as "white gold" from the 17th century when the Dutch controlled most of its production in Brazil.

It's a toxin for humans as it causes chronic inflammation and is one of the top causes of many chronic diseases in the West including obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hormonal imbalances and cardiovascular disease.

MJ is only a solution for people whose health is at serious risk because of obesity. It is dangerous for everyone else and not a silver bullet to stay slim.
All medication has an impact on the body and taking it has to outweigh the risk of not taking it otherwise people will end up doing more damage to their bodies.

For most people, losing weight involves cutting out sugar and foods containing sugar.

Voy is one and Med Express are doing it too now.

I tried putting my details in Voy as I'd like to lose about a stone. But you have to sign up for 6 months, with the price increasing as the months go by. That put me off completely as I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take 6 months to lose a small amount.

That’s simply not true. I’ve been overweight when cutting out sugar, just eating too much.. yes it’s true I wasn’t actually obese.

Browningpers · 17/03/2026 10:44

People say it because they think it’s a magic pill. That it just melts fat. It doesn’t, obviously.

I used it and it worked on the lower doses and I lost a couple of stones. As I increased the dose the side effects became unsustainable, so I’ve continued to lose weight without it using a high protein, low(er) calorie diet, and exercise. I also found that even on the higher dose the effect seemed to fade - my appetite seemed less and less affected by it, oddly, given the dosage was higher.

It’s clearly life changing for some and I know lots of people who’ve not had these issues.

Zempy · 17/03/2026 10:52

Didimum · 17/03/2026 10:08

Christ – settle down. There is no 'one' cause of obesity. I'm not even referring jabs for obese people, I'm referring to jabs for non-obese people – as is the subject of the thread. Refrain from being so unnecessarily indignant.

I think you need to take your own advice there 😆 Strange over reaction to my calm and measured response.

DominoLover51 · 17/03/2026 10:55

I’ve got to admit, I sometimes feel tempted. My BMi is 22. I would love to look how I used to, but I’m really struggling with food noise, comfort eating. I’m a small build so to me I look chubby. I keep getting tempted by those patches. However, I won’t do it partly cause I am on a money diet (I’m freelance and the companies I work for have lost some contracts, and partly cause I don’t think it’s quite moral for me to do it when it’s an appearance and self control issue. That said, I would love to know if those patches I keep seeing on Facebook work. Go figure, no pun intended

I don’t have to take them so it’s not my problem.

I was just waiting for someone to call thay poor nurse out. She was very unwell and that’s why she died sadly, the death was not directly attributed to legitimate use of the drug. And shame on you. How desperate would you have to be to post her without doing your homework on this thread.

LoveSandbanks · 17/03/2026 10:56

I’ll hold my hand up and say that I take Mounjaro. But I absolutely wouldn’t advocate it for losing 10lb.

I successfully lost 3stone on Mounjaro 18 months ago, came off and gained 2 back.

I was a slim child and teen and but in my early 20,s (in the 90s) I wanted to lose a few pounds and went on a diet. have struggled with my weight ever since. I was a perfectly healthy weight at the time with a regulated appetite. When my clothes felt a bit tight I dropped treats for a few days.

since then every single diet has led to me gaining even more fucking weight. As soon as I even think about cutting back my brain says EAT. EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT FOR SCARCITY IS IMMINENT

I would never advise anyone who wants to lose a few pounds to diet, never mind Mounjaro.

Bringemout · 17/03/2026 11:00

Well why not, from a healthcare perspective if someone quickly gets on top of a small weight gain, pays for it themselves and returns to a healthy weight easily thats a win for everyone imo.

No-ones forcing anyone onto them. Theres so much moralising about this stuff.

@DominoLover51 Please don't spend any money on those patches that are advertised. They are just a tiny amount of berberine plus things like cinnamon and pomegranate extract. There's no evidence at all that putting a tiny amount of berberine on your skin will have any effect on your appetite or ability to lose weight.

There have been some studies on berberine tablets and appetite, but with limited evidence for any positive effect. If you did want to try berberine, you'd be much better off just getting the high strength tablets you can get from places like Holland & Barrett, which are much cheaper than the patches and have a huge amount more berberine in them.

So I had 12kg to use, yo yo dieter, and I used MJ. I
lost it July to October last year. Now taking 2mg a day, It just stops me overeating. I’ll cut down further in next pen to maybe 1.5mg. I really want to break habit of losing and gaining same 10kg.

I’m doing a lot of weight training and have built good muscle mass. The risk of long term dieting and keeping calories v low (esp if no resistance training) is risk of sarcopenia.

My BMI is 23, and I look lean (think 6 pack!) as I have good muscle mass. If you feel chubby with a BMI of 22, I’d suggest a body recomposition not fat loss.

No one has to justify it to these people pretending to be all concerned or outraged. It’s absolutely none of their business and their outrage and concern is simply due to their own issues causing them resentment or envy.

if the med is prescribed for you legitimately, and you wish to take it, then good for you, you don’t need to justify that to randoms in the internet who are jealous or resentful.

You don’t need to hold your hand up, don’t let these people get to you. You should be proud of taking control of your own health.

however it is none of your business how much someone else has to lose, and no one is asking you to advocate. If the world health authority reaches out to you, do let us know though,

I know 3 people who are now very under weight. Average height and 7 stone ish... This is becoming the fashion now and it's so easy....

Cheaper than gym membership and organic health food.

There will be a huge price to pay!

I signed up last week, got accepted within two hours and had it delivered 2 days later with just less than a stone to lose. I’ve tried everything to shift those pounds but menopause is not my friend I’m afraid. I chose the 3 month plan but when I downloaded the app it’s set at the monthly plan and I can choose to change the plan to 3, 6 or 12 months.
