Person bringing her dog to the end of my house to presumably toilet.

I'm probably being an arse over this so please feel free to tell me if I'm truly being arsey.

I live in the last terraced house in a cul-de-sac. At the end of the cul-de-sac is a railway line, so effectively it's a dead end. Being the last house, there is no footfall ever outside, no one ever walks passed my house, it's very quiet.

At the other end of the the cul-de-sac is a larger straight road and one of the neighbours there has just got a dog. She now, at least 4 times a day that I've seen, walks her dog to my house and stands to the rightt of my front window (I can see her) for several minutes, letting the dog sniff round my car, the railings and alleygate, (presumably for the dog to pee) and then goes.

I'm not used to people walking passed my window and then loitering to the side, it just feels a bit unnerving, I don't have the blinds down of a day so you can see in and I really don't want to start closing the blinds and block out the daylight.

Would you be annoyed? I haven't noticed any dog mess outside, but what gets me is that it's a two minute walk to a small park literally at the end of the road, in the other direction, a 4 minute walk to a larger park and only 10 minutes away, is a massive park, surely the dog needs more than a two minute walk covering 50 yards?

Also I have to cut the foliage back that's peeking out the railings every few months as Network Rail never bother, and I'm not thrilled at the prospect of handling foliage if the dog is peeing on it.

I probably am being precious, but thoughts please.

I think you need to buy a house on land that means you’ll never have people outside …. This is my dream too lol

It is a public pavement, so she has every right to walk by.

I once saw a dog owner actually walk her dog onto the cul de sac outside my house, slightly unnerved me too as she had literally no reason to walk on it - its semi private as its only accessed by people who live in the two houses next to mine and neighbour opposite who parks on their side of the shared driveway. I had just got into my car to go out, so it was a little awkward as I just sat there watching her walk a loop around the cul de sac then go. Fortunately she never came back.

I kind of think she probably thinks she’s being thoughtful - she’s choosing wasteland rather than a park where she knows kids will be playing etc. it sounds like she’s clearing up after the dog too.

Only thing is this the only walk she’s taking the dog on? That seems odd - surely it needs longer walks and different surroundings to investigate?

I'd be a little miffed too, but at the same time I'd be having a word with myself. Things change, but not always to our liking.

I live on a very busy street with lots of dog walkers. I do think it's a very antisocial thing for an owner to stop and let their dog wee on my brick wall but I don't think there's anything I can do about it.

You don’t actually know it’s peeing there though - could go for a walk and then just want to have a sniff about the railway/wasteland

A dog having a piss near my house would not bother me in the slightest. Wear gloves if the foliage bothers you.

This is a you problem. Time to change up your planting to create privacy.

You can buy granuels to stop dogs peeing on your garden, wall borders.Supposed to be non toxic to dogs.

I can understand why it’s annoying but it sounds like you know that you don’t have any ‘right’ to act on that annoyance. She’s walking her dog on public land and isn’t leaving mess behind (that you can see/smell anyway).

If it helps, the dog might genuinely just be sniffing around. My dog only goes to the toilet twice during a walk (no.1 and no.2) and spends the rest of the time just sniffing things. They explore with their noses. If it’s a boy dog then it probably is pissing everywhere.

I live at the end of a cul de sac too and someone near me brings her dachshund on a little barky parade past my house nearly everyday. I know she does it because it makes my dog bark back. There is a big green area the same distance from her as my house is but she just seems to like bring her dog on his little walk down my end. I've just assume she is a little bit strange and let her get on with it, she isn't harming anyone.

If its just a puppy now she might bring it further afield when it gets bigger.

Puppy's don't go on long walks while their joints are developing. And she might need quieter areas if the dog doesn't have all its vaccinations yet or needs some training so avoiding other dogs is a good idea. I will choose a street wander instead of a park for mine for about half the walks. 4 short walks a day does sound like a young dog.
Foliage will only get peed on if its a boy dog who lifts a legs, girl dogs (and a few boy dogs) squat.
Plus, rain will wash it off or dilute it.
I don't know if this is true of all dogs, but mine normally pee, probably 99% of the time, within the first couple of mins of leaving the house, I suspect she's waiting down to yours as a confident place to turn round and head back, but the dog is likely to have done it's business much closer to her house.

Yes it would irritate me, but I have walked my own dog round the neighbourhood, down little cul de sacs etc,that are dead ends, just because I like to mix it up a bit, coupled with being a nosy bitch, people don't have nets cause they think no one walks past 😂
I don't do it regularly though, and you can see the curtains twitching, because people don't expect people to walk past,

Me too. I never used to give a who parked outside my house .But honestly now if somebody parks in 'my' space even if there are others readily available to me ,It irritates me for a reason I can't even identify. I'm sure I irritate lots of people because my dog wees on every single wall we go past and mine twice once on the way out and once again on the way in.

What does ‘semi-private’ mean? It’s either a private road or it’s not. My dogs are hounds, they follow scents, and if it’s that kind of walk I let them follow their noses. I’ve walked the loop of a cul de sac before, pretty sure that’s allowed. Odd to be ‘unnerved’ by someone minding their own business on a public road.

OP it’s probably just annoying because it’s new, is it a puppy or rescue and she’s perhaps taking it there to toilet train, rather than walk?

I do try to avoid this but sometimes it’s easier to let them wee there than pull away and it ends up all over the path (that people will step in). I don’t let them wee on gate posts though!
