My pharmacy definitely take payment then check the details before prescribing. They don't have people there doing it live

Firtreefiona · 11/03/2026 15:37

Honestly, what’s the issue? You’re not wanting to use them to make yourself underweight. That would be unethical, obviously but I can’t see why you shouldn’t be able to use them to lose weight within the normal range. I can see why the NHS would restrict them for finance reasons, but if you are funding them yourself, who cares? 5ft 2 and 9.5 stone is chubby.

What are you on about? People with a healthy BMI cannot get them. OP is talking bullshit because she doesn’t understand how it works.

The only people with a healthy BMI who can get it are those who were previously obese and have lost weight on the jabs; they can stay on a maintenance dose and can change suppliers to do so. The new pharmacy will take payment and then request proof of your previous use. When you can provide that, they refund you.

OP could pay right now but hers will be cancelled and refunded when it goes through for prescription.

WorstPaceScenario · 11/03/2026 15:40

So you're angry because you've been approved for something you pursued because you want it? Or you're angry because you set out to try and make a point by having a fake consultation for a drug you don't even want? In which case bravo, you've wasted your time spectacularly making your point

Avantiagain · 11/03/2026 15:40

And yes they charge first. Let's see a screen shot of the actual prescription including the company prescribing it.

Thingything · 11/03/2026 15:41

Firtreefiona · 11/03/2026 15:31

You want to go from BMI of 24 (normal) to BMI of 19 (also normal) and are prepared to pay for it. I see no reason why you need to wait until you are overweight to access help. What do you suggest someone in this position does? Eat junk continually in order to get overweight enough to access help?

No, she's not overweight, she's testing out to see if she can get a prescription as a person who isn't overweight to test and see how lax the sellers are.

I have done the same (as was curious and wanted to try) and they took my details but then post a consultation with a nurse they said I wasn't fat enough and I'd need to apply for a refund which took ages to come through.

Massive waste of time, but of course they want to draw people in by appearing more lax than they legally can be.

Firtreefiona · 11/03/2026 15:41

StrawberrySquash · 11/03/2026 15:39

But OP doesn't need help given the weight she is. I might as well say I'll develop a heroin addiction as it's the only way I'll get checked into rehab.

How do you know? Maybe she wants to lose the 2 stone she put on post-kids and has tried for a good few years with no effect. Does she have to simply stay fatter than she wants purely because she’s not fat enough? Can you see that that makes no sense? 7.5 stone is perfectly healthy.

Zov · 11/03/2026 15:42

Why were you on this online consultation, and why were skinny jabs mentioned when you are clearly slim/not overweight?

PigletJohn · 11/03/2026 15:42

The price seems curiously high. I'm sure I've seen the first pen (low dose) at about £100 for the first four weeks.

Did the OP order it as a tease?

Is it illegal to prescribe private weight loss jabs to those who are a normal range and want to lose weight to a normal range? Do these companies stop the prescription the minute someone hits a BMI of 24.99?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2026 15:43

Enyastar · 11/03/2026 15:28

It was reviewed last night.
It has been accepted!

Very unlikely

so they take the money

then at the final check out stage you are likely to be refused

i would be very surprised if they send it to you but if thru do please do send a pic of the order and pen and which company

£265 is not the price of 2.5

Doesn’t matter if she wants to lose 2 stone. She won’t get the jab.

She thinks she’s proved some sort of unethical gotcha. All she’s done is shown her ignorance for how it works. Online pharmacies always take payment first, but will cancel if you don’t need the legal thresholds. OP will not be given this prescription.

She doesn't want to use them at all I don't think. She was just testing the pharmacy apparently

Some people have far too much time on their hands.

Show us the confirmation as proof then OP?

No. As has been explained to you already in my previous post.

People can only start the jabs is obese. They can then stay on them for maintenance once at a healthy weight. But they must prove their previous use to show they were obese and have been on the jabs to lose weight and then maintain.

You cannot get a prescription for them if you are starting at a healthy BMI.

Catcatcatcatcat · 11/03/2026 15:46

Why are you furious? I don’t understand.

notnorman · 11/03/2026 15:46

Everlil · 11/03/2026 15:34

Please tell us the pharmacy so people can boycott it. I’ve never heard of a pharmacy to do this, we can help you report them.

You have to pay.

then they review it.

look at your photos

then you get refunded if they can’t prescribe.

Avantiagain · 11/03/2026 15:46

And it isn't 265 for the first jab. You are making shit up.

SunshineAndSandalsMakeMeHappy · 11/03/2026 15:47

There’s a thread in weightloss where people are getting the jabs from various prescribers at a lower BMI.

35965a · 11/03/2026 15:47

What provider is it? I’ve lost 5 stone on mounjaro and I’m worried about accessing the jabs when I’m a healthy BMI which isn’t far off! So it would be good to know.

Incorrect. They'll get their paws on your money (you will need to check a box saying you understand these drugs are only for obese people and they may need to second check it etc) and never prescribe anything and you have to chase for a refund.

There's no way they will send you these drugs if they are reputable. They will take your money and then review the case and reject you and refund the money.

It took me a few goes to get a prescription because despite having a BMI of 30 my video didn't demonstrate me in my full obese glory to their satisfaction..

But more to the question, why are you letting hundreds of pounds go out of your account to prove a point?

flyingbuttress43 · 11/03/2026 15:47

Maybe I'm unfashionable, but I wouldn't touch this stuff with a 10-foot pole unless I was seriously obese and the overweight risk outweighs what I fear are the health risks coming down the line from this weight loss method.
