Vinted buyers that never actually buy!

I’m selling a decent backpack on Vinted. I’ve accepted five offers on it this evening and not one of the buyers has come back to actually buy it! What’s the point in even sending an offer if you don’t want to buy it?!

AIBU to message them all and tell them I’ve had other offers and if they don’t buy soon, they won’t be able to?

As a 'doing it to make money' seller, I find vinted has become insufferable with constant lowballers, non binding offers etc so I've gone back to Ebay for 90% of my sales ( only put the hard to shift stuff on vinted, at discount) and probably so have loads of other sellers, cba with the hassle there are better markets than the wild west that is vinted!

I think Vinted is more the site of people like me who are really just trying to get rid of their stuff, happy to make a few ££ here and there but not really bothered if it’s much.

And I also buy on there, but usually more expensive stuff than I sell (as in, I buy new or barely worn things from labels I can’t afford in the shops). I’ll accept offers because any amount of money on something that no longer fits me or my kids or I haven’t worn for years is a bonus.

It’s insane at the moment.

listed a backpack for £100 and someone offered me £60! Jog on

Have you ever made an offer on something on Vinted? The system suggests an offer to you and will let you go as low as 40% off.

I'm not sure Vinted is the place for you if you are going to take it so seriously and get so worked up and annoyed.

That doesn’t sound … too bad?

That’s very standard for Vinted.

What was the retail price for the backpack? Did you buy it in the sale?

Retail price was £170. Brand new without tags, I paid £159.

Yabu, people are going to make multiple offers with multiple buyers, it would be ridiculous to lock them into buying, you’re going to get multiple offers that may not go through, favourites and low balls, this is all very standard on Vinted, try eBay if you’re wanting something different

Ohyeahitsme · 09/03/2026 15:49

Yeah all the reasons people are saying they dislike vinted are all the reasons I like it! Ability to make multiple, low ball offers, liking stuff to improve what I see, sellers able to make me offers from liking stuff. It's a good platform for me from both a buying and selling perspective, much prefer it to eBay.

I sometimes make an offer slightly below a very reasonably priced item as if it’s been up for months I think they may have got rid of it - if I just bought it I would have to wait for ages for my money back. So it may look nuts offering 50p less than £18 but it’s because they may well say “sorry I took that to the charity shop” and no one is messed around.

You can just offer the ask price as well.

When I joined Vinted and was supposed to get my first item delivered for free, the seller never sent the item so I lost out on the free delivery offer. I did complain to Vinted but they said you only get one offer, even if the seller doesn’t send the item.

Very few people are going to pay £100 for a used backpack worth only £150.
If offers bother you to this degree why are you still using it?

ACynicalDad · 09/03/2026 17:15

I made an offer last night (not on a backpack) then saw something I prefered, if it had been a decent price to start with they would have had a sale. They accepted my offer but too late.
