Nigel Farage is flying more than 3,000 miles to speak at a pro-Trump U.S. think tank.

For around 12 hours’ work this Saturday the Reform UK leader is expected to collect £27,856.88 from the Club for Growth, a Washington-based anti-tax lobby group that has pledged to work closely with Donald Trump ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterms.

This group helped raise £120m for Republican candidates in the 2024 election.

So while people in Clacton deal with rising costs, poverty and cuts Farage is being paid the equivalent of many people’s yearly salary to give a single speech in America.

He can’t manage to the 31 minute train journey to Clacton.

He told his constituents he'd bought a house in Clacton.
Then oops, he hadn't at all. It was his girlfriend who'd bought the house.

I wonder if he ever stays there?

Which meant he avoided paying second-home stamp duty

Remind me, which government privatised the energy companies who we are now being dry ridden (your words) by?

I didn't vote Labour and I didn't vote Reform either.

But we are being absolutely fucked over when electricity bills in France have come down by 35% since the start of last year, yet here we are supposed to hold a street carnival.
I agree that the energy companies should never have been privatised, that is madness.
But Labour are doing absolutely NOTHING all in the name of net zero which will never happen, all the while China and America do fuck all towards the climate crisis.
So whatever we are doing in the UK is utterly pointless and will make no difference other than bankrupting people in their own homes just so they can be warm.
Other than to make massive profits for the energy companies.

On 1 April, the Energy Price Cap will fall by 6.7%, meaning a household with typical usage paying by Direct Debit will pay £1,641 a year.

The drop in April is largely due the Autumn Budget, when the Government announced it would cut household energy bills by '£150' a year. meaning a household with typical usage paying by Direct Debit will pay £1,641 a year.

Energy bills coming down thanks to government action, as Prime Minister vows to bear down on cost of living

Households across Britain will benefit from cheaper energy bills this spring, thanks to actions taken by the government – putting money in working people’s pockets in a major step forward in tackling the cost of living.

This was in the Guardian a few days ago;

Household energy bills could climb by £160 a year from this summer after the war in Iran pushed the UK’s gas market to a three-year high.

A typical combined household gas and electricity bill could reach £1,800 a year in Great Britain under the government’s quarterly price cap from July, according to analysis by Cornwall Insight, an energy consultancy.

😆 another embarrassment for Farage.

BIossomtoes · 09/03/2026 08:44

Shame.

He's holding a rally in Leeds Arena later this month. Perhaps Leeds is easier to find on a map than Clacton.

Maybe he's seen the numbers that show a 1-2 point dip in his - and Reforms polling when he's seen next to Trump ? And the slight uptick in the same when it looks like he has been "snubbed" ?

You think £150 a year is a huge amount to generously shave off the annual bill?

My energy bill is over £4k a year. We were paying just over £120 a month dual fuel before this.

Every party leader seems to be grabbing freebies etc. That’s politics. 🤷‍♀️

Before what? Ours has never been below £200 a month for as long as I can remember. We’ve all been subsidised for years.
