Here's what Nigel Farage is up to this weekend.

Nigel Farage is flying more than 3,000 miles to speak at a pro-Trump U.S. think tank.

For around 12 hours’ work this Saturday the Reform UK leader is expected to collect £27,856.88 from the Club for Growth, a Washington-based anti-tax lobby group that has pledged to work closely with Donald Trump ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterms.

This group helped raise £120m for Republican candidates in the 2024 election.

So while people in Clacton deal with rising costs, poverty and cuts Farage is being paid the equivalent of many people’s yearly salary to give a single speech in America.

I think it's totally reasonable to get paid for working. Yes, its a lot, but good luck to him. I don't think that we should be capping earnings at the Clacton average or whatever you are suggesting.

He is supposed to be working as an MP for Clacton. He has worst speaking record of any party leader in Parliament and rarely holds surgeries. Being paid £90k as an MP whilst gadding about on Trumps jollies is taking the mick. Lazy grifter.

Labour in a coalition with the Green Goblin would be worse.

I’m not a massive fan of Polanski but I
find that racist

I would question why you find the need to use the word “goblin” to describe him

PandoraSocks · 07/03/2026 08:55

A very odd word choice there, @Clavinova . Why goblin?

Really? The predominant thought in my head was green - as in the Green Party. The only character I know with a green prefix is the Green Goblin from Spider-Man - I remember watching the film starring Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin. The character had scary teeth.

RobinInTheCrabApple · 07/03/2026 10:00

Bloody hell.

You might want to retract that comment knowing that Polanski is Jewish @Clavinova

Lugol · 07/03/2026 10:13

I mean you're focussing on him and groups aligned to him raising money for US causes but everyone here keeps marching for Gaza etc rather than focussing on the fact we are all being dry ridden by the Labour Government, the banks and the energy companies.

What does it really matter what Farage does with his time this weekend OP when our current Government are doing precisely fuck all about the cost of living here?

And it's getting worse week by week.

Why? The character's creator/co-creator appears to be Jewish as well.

Serously, look up the use of goblin within antisemitism.

Remind me, which government privatised the energy companies who we are now being dry ridden (your words) by?

TheFilliesWillRiseAgain · 07/03/2026 10:22

Would rather have him in America than the current lot in the UK to be honest lol

Was the Jewish writer not aware? He created the character in the 1960s.

Notonthestairs · 07/03/2026 10:25

Farage is ‘not raising money for US causes’.
He’s trying to undermine sovereignty - running to foreign powers in the hope they will pressure the government. His overall aim is to force a GE.
Add to that the wishes of whichever
crapto investor & venture capitalist is paying for him to attend. They won’t be paying for it out of philanthropy.

If you want to stand by your comment that is your decision.

I am not getting into this what about.

StormyLandCloud · 07/03/2026 10:55

Maybe he can pay some of the money he owes the government with that! He’s a horrible, self serving misogynist- this doesn’t surprise me at all

Because there hasn't been an election since the first time he was voted in.

Reform's polling has gone, not down, since the election. Gone up hugely.

Keir Starmer's constituents complained he wasn't available for surgeries either after he was made Labour leader. Starmer claimed he was a “mobile clinic” - you had to catch him in the pub or on the school run (his children were secondary school age);

But we're talking about how someone performs as a constituency MP, nationwide polling won't reflect that.

I'm sure that many of the residents of Clacton are voting for him regardless of course. But the point was that even if they wanted to sack him, they've not had the opportunity.

He is paid to be the MP for Clacton. Some MPs do paid stuff and are also good local MPs. Rosina Allin-Khan for example, who does NHS doctor shifts. But he’s not actually doing his MP work, is he?

This infographic was produced in order of MP’s money earned from other jobs.
