£40,000 per family to leave UK should be open to everyone

Labour Government to pay failed asylum seekers up to 40 grand per family to leave the UK (10 grand per person).

I want a piece of the action and considering it is taxpayer funded, it should be open to all.

OP posts:

How on earth did you come to that amount, it comes to just over £13K per month, which is absolutely ridiculous. I would love to see that broken down into the various costs.

The accommodation used to house them is owned by people who are milking the government for cash?

OonaStubbs · 05/03/2026 14:24

If they came here illegally in the first place, how do you stop them pocketing the 40k and then coming back here illegally again?

It is a problem that should not exist in the first place. No-one should be allowed to stay here who comes here illegally.

ExtraOnions · 05/03/2026 14:25

Well it’s “up to”, they have to leave in 8 days… and I would imagine a damn site cheaper than going though various legal appeals.

Sometimes you have to be pragmatic

They won't have UK citizenships to give up. But it will probably be a case of them having to repay the money if they do return.

We are talking about the OP here (which I guess is what they wanted).

Their provocative thought experiment was about receiving £40k to piss off abroad as "failed asylum seekers" are being offered (apparently).

Because the OP is doubtless a Very Busy Person, they forgot to include the fact that to be in "the same" situation they would have to not be a UK citizen.

Isekaied · 05/03/2026 13:42

Isn't this just going to incentivise more people to come.

So they'll be given cash to leave?

This, in spades 🙄

SerendipityJane · 05/03/2026 14:27

Aren't biometrics taken ?

You could pay me off so that I don't involve the courts.

No payoff would satisfy the courts.

We are stuck with you sadly.

Greyblankie · 05/03/2026 14:43

They shouldn’t be paid anything - just deport.

Otherwise it’s worth claiming “asylum” just for the £10k alone

Greyblankie · 05/03/2026 14:47

And I wonder if this includes failed “asylum seekers” who commit crime here before they fuck off back to their own backwards countries - do they get £10k each too? After the legal aid they receive for their court appearances? Absolutely crazy

Motomum23 · 05/03/2026 14:56

MeridaBrave · 05/03/2026 13:38

It’s because it costs the government £££ per year to house them. I can’t see how it would work for UK citizens even on benefits unless they were prepared to give up Uk passports

Failed asylum seekers should not be in paid housing. They should be returned to their own country because their asylum claim fails. If we have an open door policy to house everyone for free in the world we will run out of houses and money... oh too late.

I hear you @Ablondiebutagoody and I agree.

You won't get many supportive posts on here though. Many people will agree with you, but will be afraid to say so.

Why?

Greyblankie · 05/03/2026 15:34

Nobody should be afraid to speak up anymore - the days of branding anyone “racist” who dares to speak up are gone. Hence why the polling is the way it is.

Boomer55 · 05/03/2026 15:42

If the country you are going to accepts you having £40k then go for it.

Yes. Racism has become normalised now,as evidenced on this site.

lol when was there a time when racists didn’t have a platform. From Enoch Powell to BNP to Tommy Robinson to Nigel Farage.

Racists have never been censored.

I agree.

I'll third that, if they are here illegally, bump them on a plane and send them home.
Why encourage people to come just to get paid to leave.
Stupid.

How is it racist to say failed asylum seekers / illegal immigrants shouldn't be allowed to stay.

The UK is a small island, with homeless people on the streets, hospitals that can't meet demand, young people with degrees that can't get suitable employment.

Why on earth do we want more people ?

Yes, MN is famously full of people afraid to speak their minds. 🙄

Would you (or all those alleged others who agree with you) really give up your citizenship for 10k per family member? I don’t think many people would, and therefore the benefits to the rest of us citizens are small. Whereas the benefit of not having to go through protracted legal proceedings and deportation, for 10k per person, is significant.

I was responding to one particular comment. I stand by my view that racism has become normalised and it's evident here, as in the wider world.

Well it shouldn't. It shouldn't be open to failed asylum seekers either. If you're a failed asylum seeker you're just an illegal immigrant. The only incentive you should be given to leave is a plane ticket and a fervent wish that the door doesn't hit your arse on the way out.

I am happy to say I would be busy as resentful having to pay £10k each for illegal immigrants to leave if they were white. And I'm sure everyone else feels the same. So do one with your illogical unevidenced assertions.

To have context. It is much cheaper than housing them pending assessment but also acts as an incentive. Offshore processing would be a bigger discincentive.

There’s just no consistent evidence that off shore processing is a deterrent, and it’s really really expensive.

lol when was there a time when racists didn’t have a platform. From Enoch Powell to BNP to Tommy Robinson to Nigel Farage.

Racists have never been censored.

Because back in the day anyone who supported the BNP/national front etc WERE racist and unless they were proper wrong ‘uns they would never admit support for these parties - they certainly wouldn’t tell Sky News (or equivalent) in the street that that’s who they were voting for. You wouldn’t have got 60 year old Shiela proudly stating that she was voting for the BNP …

Now we have Reform which is NOT far right at all, they speak “some” sense. People are happy to say they vote for them and more importantly - why. They’re leading in the polls because people are finally speaking up - can you name a time when the BNP were top of every UK opinion poll?

While we’re at it - can you give me an example of a truly racist reform policy?

Rupert Lowe on the other hand makes Nigel Farage look left wing! Yet they too are gaining momentum. Shouting “racist” at people has lost its meaning - nobody cares anymore.

Shame the word wasn’t kept for actual racism.
