In the interests of harmony & returning to the original subject of the thread, I can agree with that. Though it’s not “Israel” as a whole country, it’s the current Israeli government that I am agreeing have done some terrible things in this conflict.

Agree with that 100%

Sadly it's certain posters on this thread who are making me want to dig my heels in and 'unquestionably back Israel' especially when my Israeli family is spending time in safe rooms while Iran (who wants to wipe out Israel completely) sends missiles over their heads. It's a great shame that there are no safe rooms provided for either innocent Iranians or Palestinians.

Indeed. If only their masters spent money on protecting them, but they just don't seem to care.

OrangeAxolotyl · 06/03/2026 13:38

Yeah, that made me laugh! However, everyone is entitled to a political opinion, and feel no shame 😉

That makes me wonder if you have unusual political opinions, Orange.

Monster Raving Looney perhaps 🙃

At the risk of opening another can of worms, and derailing this thread still further - I agree with you completely about Iran. Much as I deplore Trump and his actions, Iran's stated desire to obliterate Israel is well known. I don't mourn Khamenei one bit, and I hope that all the missiles launched at Israel are shot down without harming a soul.

See? We can agree on some things :-)

That's a relief. Thank you. But are you seriously voting for the Greens or is that a wind up?

'The only UK political party that actually cares about poverty and the environment'
Now you taking the pi$$ @IcyPlumShaker.

I would be genuinely interested in which other political party/ies you feel actually care about poverty and the environment.

But maybe save that discussion for another thread?

HappyFace2025 · 06/03/2026 13:42

Absolutely. In the interests of full transparency, I voted Labour in every election up to and including the last one. But Starmer has been an absolute disappointment.

I find Polanski to be a total breath of fresh air. His focus is on addressing inequality, restoring public services and protecting the environment - all things I care deeply about.

I hate the Tories for the last 14 years of misery; they're just in it for themselves and their rich mates.

I despise Farage for cosying up to Trump. He's a racist grifter, and he - and his party - are taking working class people for fools.

I don't mind the Lib Dems - I just don't see them getting anywhere fast.

Twiglets1 · 06/03/2026 13:47

I think the sad reality @IcyPlumShaker is that none of them do (care about poverty and the environment).

Assuming you are younger than me (in your 20s and idealistic like my son, perhaps) the upsetting thing for older people is that the Green Party used to care about those things but no longer seem to since they seem to care more now about issues overseas than what is happening in the UK.

Then I admire you for maintaining your optimism about politics when I am the same age and feel jaded with the lot of them.

Let me share something with you..... it's not them! I'm guilty of voting Green, before all these questionable events though!

Twiglets1 · 06/03/2026 13:49

Oh trust me, I'm jaded with most politicians. Shower of b*stards, most of them.

I do think Polanski is different though.

And clearly, the Greens aren't perfect - I'm not sure I agree with them about NATO, for example.

But it's like the old adage - picking a political party to vote for is not like getting a taxi to your destination, it's like getting a bus. You pick the one that gets you closest...

OrangeAxolotyl · 06/03/2026 13:53

I don't mind the Lib Dems. I just find Zack Polanski lacking in political aptitude, really. At the recent victory speech he just criticised Labour - absolutely nothing about Reform, which I found very strange 🤔....

Twiglets1 · 06/03/2026 13:58

I voted Labour in the last election too but feel that Starmer has been a disappointment.

Don't see Polanski as a breath of fresh air though. He's a grifter in my opinion, much like Farage. And the fact that he hasn't spoken out about the comments this Hannah woman made about rape ... that just proves he is not a good person.

Going back to the old bus stop adage ...I'm at the point there are no buses anymore (politically homeless).

It’s not strange, he knows that he will never attract Reform voters, he is after Labour voters. The man doesn’t really have morals, he is after power. It’s clear he’s a control freak. I find him the scariest man in politics. He is manipulative, and quite happy to sell his soul to the highest bidder. He is basically Trump in sheep’s clothing - he hates different people, but it’s the same level of hate with different targets

As a matter in interest what policies of theirs do you agree with? Hitler was “different” but probably would recommend anyone voting for him

No-one is "trashing" the Green Party - such bias!
We are questioning the controversial claims made by the party spokesperson.
We are allowed to question this. The Green Party cannot be above reproach.

This 100%.

The Green Party are 'trashing' their own reputation by association and then not correcting the assertion made.

It is right and proper to question a party that has a spin doctor/representative make a disgusting comment and the Party appear to agree to it, since they have yet to distance themselves from the comment or take action for the perpetrator of said comments. Perhaps a bit of training and guidance to where she can find proof of rape, since she doesn't believe it occurred.

Light needs to be shed on a party that behaves this way or doesn't distance itself or make a correction when a member or worker for the party makes such disgraceful comments.

Rape is a very emotive subject because it is an appalling act that is nothing to do with 'resistance' and all to do with power, control and dominance.

Yes, unfortunately I think you're right. Also, he's not particularly articulate and I think he's a populist.

Interesting. The Nazis were about helping the workers, wealth distribution and improving the workplace, dealing with migrant labour and, of course, the untermensch who got the blame.
It was a workers party who pledged to punish the wealthy and support the ordinary people. Of course it was very appealing to so many.

Quite. I would think mr boob hypnosis is the closest to the Nazis we have in our current Hall of shame of politicians

I haven't heard the bus saying before. But to my mind, if the buses all contain rapists, gunmen, or psychotics with knives, I'm not getting on any bus thanks, I'll either walk or stay put.

Yes, I always voted Green at the local elections, hoping for change.
Why they're doing nothing about this situation is mystifying.

I hope you will read this and never vote for Greens again. It is worth than voting for the far right at present, and that will not change while they are courting with Islamists.

100% agree. You'll now be asked by other posters who you will vote for, even though the GE is years away!
