Anyone else think this could be the prelude to ww3. It’s like everything’s been put in place, the stage is now set? Hope I’m wrong.

RAF base in Cyprus has been hit.

Has it? When?
I thought they had shot on that direction, but it was intercepted?

We have gone through this two times by now.
I think it will not turn global.
But may involve the whole ME.
Let"s get ready for price hikes.
And let's hope Starmer keeps us well out of it. We need whatever we have to deal with Putin!

Don't think staying out of it is an option now that an RAF base has been hit

It's a daily mail headline..no confirmation of casualties as yet.

MushMonster · 01/03/2026 23:44

No news outlet in UK is stating a hit at present.
Only nearby in Bahrain and towards Cyprus, intercepted.
I think UK will allow the use of its bases, as a response.
But not getting involve on offensive opperations as yet.

@JoeyHeathertonwhenyoucallmebabyNsoul. Can you confirm this with a source as I can only see news that doesn’t confirm an actual hit.

Only going by Daily mail headline saying it was a drone attack.

Only the Daily mail is mentioning a drone hit indeed. I have foundcit now.

ChangePrivacyQuestion · 01/03/2026 23:47

I'm more worried about another 7/7.

I really hope it's a something over nothing really don't want the UK pulled into this.

Very good point.👍

I do believe the RAF base in Cyprus has been hit by a drone,it’s all over X and there are a lot of US and RAF planes in the area.Just looked at flight radar.

It's basically Iran against everyone else, so not going to be much of a war. Their proxies have been decimated over the past couple of years, Russia's bogged down in Ukraine and China is pretty unlikely to do anything; they didn't help Russia when they were just fighting Ukraine, they're hardly likely to help Iran when it would mean direct conflict with the USA (and the entire rest of the world, bar Russia and N Korea), for no discernible benefit to themselves. So not too worried about this one escalating, though obviously hope anyone in range of Iran can stay safe while they fire off their last hurrah. And desperately hope the transfer to a new democratic non-evil Iranian regime goes smoothly, which I think is probably the most concerning thing.

Now reported in Telegraph:
An explosion has been reported at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Unconfirmed reports suggested the incident, which took place at around midnight local time (10pm GMT), may have been caused by a drone.

A “small drone” had “impacted the airfield” in Limassol, the Cyprus Mail reported.

Other reports suggested the explosion was caused by a missile, with The Sun citing unconfirmed claims that as many as seven missiles were inbound and may have been launched from Lebanon.

If launched from Lebanon, the potential attack is likely to have been orchestrated by Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy group.

RAF Akrotiri is home to thousands of military personnel and their families.

Personnel were apparently told to “move away from windows and take cover behind or beneath substantial, solid furniture”.

Kathyscookies · 02/03/2026 07:34

It will be fine.
I have enough to worry about so can't even think about anything else.
Life deals enough sadness to families. There are people dealing with tragedy within their own homes.
No matter what anyone says will bring any optimism to people in this mindset.
Every positive is met by the OP stating "but this seems worse..."
Speculation doesn't help anyone. There have been so many threads over recent years.
I personally have enough to deal with having just lost my mum very suddenly and unexpectedly.

It's the literal opposite. China has been building towards invading Taiwan for a long time now. But China, despite its physical size, has almost no oil. They rely on oil from Venezuela, Iran and Russia. Without it, their military is severely limited.

In January they lost Venezuelan oil. Now they are (most likely) losing Iranian. The odds of them being able to invade Taiwan have dropped hugely, and if anything had the potential to be the catalyst for a world war, it was that.
