Anyone else think this could be the prelude to ww3. It’s like everything’s been put in place, the stage is now set? Hope I’m wrong.

Asking on MN is futile, they’ll just try to spin it round to imply you’re overly anxious etc in the hopes of starting a pile-on.
I take the point about all the previous wars having been rumoured to be the beginning of WW3, but I think the worrying difference this time, is 1. Trump, 2. Iranian missiles and 3. Bloody Trump!!

4: Netanyahu

People probably said that before WW2. Every war has a precursor. The fact previous events didn’t lead to it doesn’t mean that there’ll be one that does.

People did say that before WW2 because they didn't have access to all the information which made it inevitable.

We have access to too much information now, much of it false and scare-mongering.

Knock yourself out if you want to stress about something which is extremely unlikely to happen. You clearly want to since you won't accept any reassurance.

I don’t think it will cause WW3 but I think we will have incidents/terrorism in the U.K. because of it, because there are so many Muslims who live in the U.K. now and SOME of those Muslims won’t be happy about what is happening in the ME as SOME Muslims still align themselves with those regions, rather than being for eg English.

Consequently and annoyingly I think we’ll experience issues on our own soil.

Facebook called, they want their neighbourhood chat members back. Off you trot…

The protests I've seen are the usual, white, middle class wankers. My Sister amd her friends, all, middle class wankers. will probably pause the Palestinian stuff and jump on this bandwagon.

Absolutely devastating that the school was hit and Trump should acknowledge and address the deaths of all the children, during this campaign.

@borderline53 WW2 came as no surprise to anyone. Along the decades, welfare, alms etc has often been given because those in charge are well aware that they need a fighting force for whatever war they are planning next.

Quine0nline · 01/03/2026 15:41

Iran and Saudi Arabia are the two countries voting for nick dick in the ME. The 7/10 terror attacks were very likely done my Hamad at the behest of Iran to stop the Israeli/Saudi agreement.

Iran has made a big mistake in attacking the other ME countries. It is to make them say "oh nasty America, protect us oh big Iran". The US and that's the US who has been dealing with friendly Arab countries for decades (leave trump out of it at the moment) can offer a lot more trade wise, fiance wise and support wise.

Like it or not, dick about with Israel and you will get dicked big time. Remember Israel only needs to.lodr one war and they cease to exist. We may not want to take tea with them, but they can look after themselves.

Oil prices will be affected, the exchange rates will jitter, but generally for most of us in the UK, life will go on. A few fuckwitted Shiites and allies may try stupidity. That will really encourage multiculturalism amongst the aqua blues.

dnadiscoveryquery · 01/03/2026 15:41

I vividly remember the Gulf War as a teen and us all being petrified that WW3 was around the corner. When you’ve lived to see what happens through many of these wars it is easier to hope/accept things will de-escalate.

ApplebyArrows · 01/03/2026 15:43

Trump doesn't seem to have the attention span for long wars. Having killed the Ayatollah and a few innocent schoolgirls along the way he can now happily continue as Prince of Peace and leave other people to sort the mess out. At least that's how he usually operates.

inmyfashion · 01/03/2026 15:43

There are a lot of experts saying WW3 has already started. I think they’re probably right.

Ponoka7 · 01/03/2026 15:43

@StillCreatingAName , so there's been no Antisemitism attacks, or terror plots stopped, because of the Palestinian situation? We haven't had attacks on women and children, in protest? We all imagined the London Bridge and other stabbings, as well as the cars mounting the pavements?

And experts in what?

I’m not talking about protests. I’m talking about the kind of incidents where people get hurt or worse.

ManukaMoneyMaker · 01/03/2026 17:53

You're not strange for feeling anxious. This feels different because the whole Middle East has been actively dragged in, and we have only just had the US threaten to destroy NATO by taking Greenland.
Russia and China are allied with Iran, and Putin has called the US and Israel's actions illegal.
Iran has said all US and Israeli assets are fair game, and the UK has US assets, however Iran does not have the range to target UK soil with munitions.
We are already in grey zone conflict with Russia and Iran, with both having conducted low level missions on UK soil.
So, we are involved, but not directly, and if affected it is more likely to be terrorist attack, supply chain or cyber attack than bombs.

ManukaMoneyMaker · 01/03/2026 18:04

Just to update, if you are silly for worrying about it, then so are NATO, so you are in good company (from Al Jazeera):

NATO adjusting forces to counter ‘potential threats’

NATO is closely following developments in Iran and the Middle East, with their top commander in Europe adjusting forces as needed to defend against “potential threats”, the alliance said in a statement.

NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, US General Alexus Grynkewich, “continues to speak actively and regularly with military leaders on both sides of the Atlantic,” a NATO spokesperson said.

The top commander “has and will continue to adjust NATO’s very strong force posture to ensure the security of its 32 member nations and to defend the Alliance from potential threats, such as ballistic missiles or unmanned aerial vehicles, emanating from this or other regions,” the statement added.

Of Course I’ll accept reassurance, my comment you quoted was within the first 15 minutes. How quick to be reassured should I have been?

It makes me wonder at what point WWs one and two were called that.

Sky news. UK terror threats absolutely under review….

Another war was the last thing anybody needed, and I absolutely do not believe it was necessary. UK needs to keep out of it, trouble is I don’t have much faith in Starmer to stand strong when Trump clicks his fingers.

When has any British Govt not jumped to attention when America has clicked it's fingers.
Unfortunately I can't see that ever changing.

Bloodylovecheese · 01/03/2026 22:25

6 years is a long time in politics, especially when you're not in charge

To be worried about this latest war.
DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 01/03/2026 22:35

All large-scale conflict is worrying. Many are anxious.

But think of it this way. We were much more likely to end up in global war if Iran had been left to plot and meddle and develop ever more lethal and longer-range weapons. Now that Iran’s military is being pulverised we’re much safer.

And we can hopefully provide a much better future for the oppressed people of Iran.

ManukaMoneyMaker · 01/03/2026 22:38

Starmer announced that the US can use UK military sites for defensive strikes, and UK, Germany and France preparing to take their own defensive action against Iran. That's sounding pretty world-y and pretty war-y.

I’ve seen this and surprised there is not a separate thread on here, I’ve probably missed it. Seems like a u-turn from PM from earlier today. Agree very worrying.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 01/03/2026 23:30

I believe it started on 911 personally and won’t stop until something really bad happens such a Hiroshima.

i know w that’s sounds dreadful but it’s just a feeling I’ve had for decades.

JoeyHeathertonwhenyoucallmebabyNsoul · 01/03/2026 23:38

RAF base in Cyprus has been hit.

MushMonster · 01/03/2026 23:40

We have gone through this two times by now.
I think it will not turn global.
But may involve the whole ME.
Let"s get ready for price hikes.
And let's hope Starmer keeps us well out of it. We need whatever we have to deal with Putin!
