Slippers on holiday

PerkyOchrePeer · 28/02/2026 22:52

Im going on holiday and am not sure whether to pack slippers. I am taking flip flops, so I could use them as slippers so it's one less item to pack.

I have never heard of anyone taking slippers on holiday with them. Just wear your flip flops.

Kfcinbed · 28/02/2026 23:26

I always pack slippers! On the rare occasion I forget, I always miss them.

ProfessorRedshoeblueshoe · 28/02/2026 23:27

Surely it depends on the holiday

LoserWinner · 28/02/2026 23:29

I pack the freebie disposable slippers that I got once when I stayed at a posh-ish hotel.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/02/2026 23:30

Depends where you are going and how cold the floor is likely to be.
I just came back from a weekend in Paris, staying in an apartment with with wooden flooring, and was very pleased I'd taken my slippers rather than flipflops. In summer though, I wouldn't bother with the slippers.

Arlanymor · 28/02/2026 23:33

I probably wouldn't bother if I was going somewhere hot and would just use my flip-flops, but in colder climates I definitely take my spare pair of slippers.

PinkCatCushion · 28/02/2026 23:34

I always take them on holiday. I might not if I was going abroad though.

Mumofteentwins · 28/02/2026 23:37

I always always take slippers, usually the freebie ones you get in nicer hotels, I have a collection of them. I travel for work a lot and always keep a pair with me in case the hotel doesn’t have them. I think it’s wasteful to throw them away so I bring them back and usually wear them until they’re worn out.

BubbleFree · 28/02/2026 23:38

We don’t wear outdoor shoes inside, I pack an indoor pair of flip flops but we never holiday anywhere cold.

Edited to add we don’t like hotel slippers, the soles are too thin for us.

Denim4ever · 28/02/2026 23:39

I don't think they are necessarily needed on a warm weather holiday. They are quite useful if you are cooking a lot on holiday. If we are on a walking holiday and self catering, I might pack a pair of Birkenstock type footwear that doubled as a pop to the pub shoe.

Same!

I always take these home from hotel stays and reuse them when I go on a beach holiday. Very lightweight and comfy to wear around an apartment with tiled floors. Flip flops are uncomfortable enough after wearing them all day

cestlavielife · 28/02/2026 23:52

Take whatever makes you happy and fits in your suutcase

YiddlySquat · 28/02/2026 23:53

I have giant silly pug slippers, they’d take up half my suitcase 😂

I lived in hot places, and wouldn’t dream of walking around at night without something on my feet - think cockroaches, scorpions, snakes….

Growlybear83 · 01/03/2026 00:07

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of slippers in my life 😆

tulippa · 01/03/2026 00:08

If you're going somewhere very hot, flip flops will be fine. Anywhere else I would always take slippers.

Blueskiesnotgrey · 01/03/2026 00:09

i take 2 pairs of flip flops - inside and outside 😁

Negroany · 01/03/2026 00:10

I have special slippers I use just on holiday or staying with family - they are felt with a leather sole, so they're flat and easy to pack. And yes, I usually take them!

3678194b · 01/03/2026 00:21

I take slippers, not new ones but the ones I currently have at the time. Hotel room floors are often not the cleanest.

If there is no robe & slippers provided then I wear my own slippers. I usually bin them at the end of the holiday. Because as before the floors aren't the cleanest and by then my slippers are usually not new and are well worn. And I usually buy cheap slippers anyway.

I wear slippers in summer at home

I get UTIs if I walk around on tiled floors abroad in the summer.
So I always take my slippers. What I do is take a pair that are on their way out and then I just throw them out before I come home so l have more room in the suitcase, The complimentary hotel ones soles are too thin for me - but they are handy for round the pool.

I buy good quality mocasan suede slippers with furry lining. I get them from marks and spencers and they last for about 4 years and cost £29 cheap slippers are a waste

I take thick slipper socks in case my feet get cold. Which they usually do. They t a ke up less space than slippers.

I didn't say I would walk around at night without something on my feet did I?! But in a hotel room, by the pool or on the beach then flip-flops are fine. Strangely enough I also wouldn't dream of wearing slippers to walk around at night... except in my accommodation.
