To not be able to find a good horror movie

WhatwillitTake · 25/02/2026 15:19

Please recommend some good horror movies! I'm not interested in anything with subtitles at this moment in time.

I am scrolling through Netflix and similar and, I have seen all of the interesting ones like The Haunting of Bly Manor etc.

I believe “Melania” fills many people with horror!

Bevviefromthelevee · 27/02/2026 10:07

Oddity, Bring Her Back, Talk To Me, Hereditary - all interesting concepts & Toni Collette is awesome

WhatwillitTake · 28/02/2026 21:13

Well I've made my way though Last house on the left, and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Looking for tonight's watch at the moment!

Depends what you like. Some of the most unsettling I've watched have been the last house on the left, Eden Lake, and Speak No Evil (Danish version not remake)

DarkEyedSailor · 28/02/2026 21:17

The Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is good.
Evil Dead, the original- although the remake isn't bad.

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 28/02/2026 21:18

I thought Bring her Back was really good.

It’s quite old but Hostel is really good.

Goingbacktoit · 28/02/2026 21:21

I’ve just finished bring her back, good film.

Just spotted your message after I posted! I must have chosen correctly than. Now am I going to get nightmares?! Although I'm pretty tough with horror movies, dh on the other hand...

You’ll never look at a knife the same way….

You'll be ok, your DH not so much! It’s good!!

😂 Sounds a bit like Hostel, which I have to be honest was a terrifying concept for me, the leather glove on the old man and being "marked!"

@ForAmusedHazelQuoter

I watch them upstairs with the ipad these days. The cupboard doors bursting open on Paranormal Activity, along with The Descent nearly finished him off (and this was years ago). 😂 I could be mean and select it when it is a "my turn" scenario which we occasionally have?!

Edited

Big fan of Hostel, might go and watch that again now.

I would really recommend Host, different but good.

MetalliCat89 · 28/02/2026 21:53

Eden Lake is pretty good. The suspense is on point.

As above is also pretty good.

WhatwillitTake · 01/03/2026 22:49

Watched 'Bring her Back' last night. It was refreshing; I liked it. Now I need to find something for tonight. After having gone off the horror genre for a long time, my interest is coming back with a vengeance!

Have you seen the recent one Weapons? So good I saw it twice at the cinema in one week!

WhatwillitTake · 02/03/2026 00:03

@Lmnop22

Oh thank you, no I haven't. I have made a note to watch it next week.

Not a film but Archive 81 is scary as shit and so unusual.

Toetouchingtitties · 02/03/2026 01:34

I haven't RTFT, but not sure if anyone else has recommended 'Attack of the Killer Tomato's'.

Or maybe not.

Scorchio84 · 02/03/2026 01:50

Salem's Lot
Halloween

sparkleghost · 02/03/2026 02:11

We loved Bring her Back! Also really enjoyed Keeper recently.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 02/03/2026 07:16

More unusual horrors are Strange darling and lowlifes. Enjoyed those.

Concretejungle1 · 03/03/2026 08:52

Descent, veronica, let her out, the pyramid, the shrine, evil dead rise, terrifier trilogy

Erin1975 · 03/03/2026 09:41

Best horror films I have seen recently:

Good Boy - slow burning horror told from the point of view of the main character - a dog.
Companion - when sex-robots start killing people?
Clown In a Cornfield - 90's style slasher film that includes all the stereotypes.
Sinners - vampires and racism in the deep south.
The Ugly Stepsister - body horror retelling the tale of Cinderella.
Heart Eyes - old fashioned slasher comedy
The Monkey - Stephen King book adaptation with an animated monkey
Dust Bunny - would be a kids fairy tale were it not for the John Wick style ultraviolence.
