To not be able to find a good horror movie

Please recommend some good horror movies! I'm not interested in anything with subtitles at this moment in time.

I am scrolling through Netflix and similar and, I have seen all of the interesting ones like The Haunting of Bly Manor etc.

The visit, knock at the cabin, cabin in the woods, Saw films. What sort do you like? Abigail has just come to Netflix and I love that one. It’s humorous, serious and gory.

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 25/02/2026 15:31

Have you seen Sinners?

It is partly horror. And has sixteen Oscar nominations.

Available on at least one of the streaming platforms.

BonfireToffee · 25/02/2026 15:32

Have you seen Midsommar? I thought that was great. A lot of folk liked Hereditary, too - by the same director. I wasn't mad keen but I'd give it another go.

IsThisLifeNow · 25/02/2026 15:33

Sinners is amazing, I enjoyed Shelby oaks too, and The autopsy of Jane doe

Ooooh, second The Autopsy of Jane Doe - really creepy.

follygirl · 25/02/2026 15:58

The Descent is brilliant

shellyleppard · 25/02/2026 16:06

The mist by Stephen king gives me the heebie jeebies

Breadcat24 · 25/02/2026 16:15

Drag me to Hell slightly funny spooky
The Ring- downright unsettling
Zombieland- very funny

purplekoala79 · 25/02/2026 16:27

Barbarian
sinners
smile
The conjuring
insidious
old favourite like Halloween and Texas Chainsaw
IT
Borderlands

ApocalypseNowt · 25/02/2026 16:27

Black Phone was pretty decent.

Not a film but have you tried Mike Flanagan's other series, The Fall of the House of Usher, Haunting of Hill House. Etc

ApocalypseNowt · 25/02/2026 16:28

I really liked It Follows too

Needhelp101 · 25/02/2026 16:41

Sinners! Absolutely amazing.
Also second The Descent.

All the best horror is about grief.

KatiePricesKnickers · 25/02/2026 17:22

The Babadook is terrifying, as is The Descent.
It Follows also great.

lindabysteven · 25/02/2026 17:26

I watched the Babadook recently, scared the B'jeezus out of me.

Worried198423 · 25/02/2026 17:35

Talk To Me is quite good
The Black Phone is decent
Cabin in the Woods
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Wrong Turn

YouAreTheCauseOfMyHeadache · 25/02/2026 18:00

the last shift or host on prime - superb

UniquePinkSwan · 25/02/2026 18:07

If you can handle subtitles, Terrified. It’s Argentinian and it’s my favourite.

although going by the ‘horror’ suggestions you’re getting, this might be a bit much for you

frontwoman001 · 25/02/2026 18:20

La Mesita Del Comedor 😈

  • it's about an awkward dinner party. That's all the info you need going in.

Wolf Creek
The Chaser (Korean movie)
You're Next
Don't Breathe
Smile
Buried
Wrong Exit (2021)

I love Train To Busan. Also a Korean movie. It's about zombies. Zombies on a train. I put off watching it for a while because I'm not mad into zombie movies. But then I watched it and loved it.

Sostewedover · 25/02/2026 18:22

Get out the Jordan peel movie is just fantastic as is nope

Midsommar is an awesome recommendation!

mumof2nanof1 · 25/02/2026 18:24

I really liked Mama

outerspacepotato · 25/02/2026 18:35

Cure! 90s Japanese horror.

David Cronenburg movies.

Sinners is great. Horror doesn't win the awards but this one really should.

Carnival of Souls.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/02/2026 18:38

I enjoyed Killer Book Club on Netflix

DarkEyedSailor · 25/02/2026 18:53

Do you like zombies? If so, It Stains The Sands Red is on Amazon and is one of my favourites. Nicely corpse-like zombie, female lead, decent story.

DarkEyedSailor · 25/02/2026 18:54

Oh and From Dusk till Dawn is fab too.
