Not tired every day?

Im knackered.

OP posts:
OddBoots · 20/02/2026 12:39

I am still peri but vaginal oestrogen really helped with this for me, it's a very low dose and can be taken at any age and taken for life and studies show it is very helpful for improving things in the pelvic organs including preventing UTIs.

Oldrunner · 20/02/2026 12:43

I second getting oestrogen pessaries. Can make a huge difference.

Mama2many73 · 20/02/2026 13:26

Also on vaginal oestrogen, post menopause and ive found it really helpful. Generally much more comfortable, less irritating/ dryness etc. Sometimes.i get up 1 a night now, sometimes I sleep through.

badgersbadgerseverywhere · 20/02/2026 13:50

I’m on hrt and vaginal oestrogen, don’t consume things that irritate my bladder (caffeine and spicy foods for me) and I’m still waking up 2-3 times a night to pee. I’m always tired.

bloominoreilly · 20/02/2026 13:56

I'm on the vag oestrogen but still get up for at least one pee per night, usually two - sometimes 3 or 4, if I've had my mug of mint tea before bed (which I'm trying to cut out). I don't drink alcohol & have no caffeine drinks after 2pm - but wondering if cutting out caffeine completely would help 🤔 I'm a mouth breather (I sound so attractive, don't I 😂) so my mouth gets dry & I sip water at a few points during the night, so that prob contributes to the weeing. Have hardly ever slept through the night since giving birth to DS nearly 20 years ago, and look tired, but generally feel I get enough sleep - I always manage to get back to sleep easily during the night, but I go to bed early (10pm ish) but am wide awake at 6am every day. Sorry if oversharing unnecessarily 😂, but thinking some of this may resonate

Summerhillsquare · 20/02/2026 14:11

Only once in my case, but then the witching hour anxiety kicks in. Soooo sick of it but after nigh on 10 years this is my life now.

Fluffypuppy1 · 20/02/2026 14:22

I don’t. I do remember a thread on here recently recommending pumpkin seed oil for this problem though. The OP claimed it helped within days. Several posters who tried it also claimed it worked. Maybe worth trying?

I’m a mouth breather and I’ve recently started mouth taping at night. This has stopped my mouth drying out like it used to but I still feel thirsty when I wake up to pee and I have to sip water through a straw from the corner of my mouth.

I really miss the days of crashing out in any bed and sleeping until morning. Now I need my special pillow, more pillows between my knees and behind my back, podcasts playing all night, mouth tape, water next to the bed and several nocturnal wees. Imagine going home with a fella you’ve just met and doing all that, it’s a good job I’m happily married (and we have separate beds 😂).

mindutopia · 20/02/2026 14:29

I’m not yet post menopausal, but I do often wake up twice, and I wee because I might as well and I do drink a lot of water. Currently, it’s about 1am and 4am.

I can’t say I’m particularly tired (I do have cancer and probably am tired because of that). But I go to bed at a reasonable time (in bed for 9:30pm most nights) and get up at 7am. I get 9 hours of sleep most nights, which feels like plenty.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 20/02/2026 14:32

Sometimes twice but usually once. But I always have needed a wee in the night. I can't remember a time when I didn't.

cardibach · 20/02/2026 14:34

Drinking more water during the day reduces it (sometimes to nothing) but I usually go once or twice. Does et make me tired I don’t think as I go straight back to sleep and I’ve always woken 9ne or twice at night. I don’t think going for a wee makes it more tiring.

Yogachick · 20/02/2026 14:49

Many years post menopause ,I’ve got up 3/4 times a night every single night for years.when I get up I really pee,not a small amount I think I had a single night when I slept through ,my god,I felt SO rested. I’ve never had HRT,I’m interested in the pumpkin seed idea though, can anyone point me to the thread pls

SpanThatWorld · 20/02/2026 14:52

I get up, pee and go back to sleep. It's a bit like breast feeding. Sometimes it destroys your night but other times you do it without properly waking up.

caringcarer · 20/02/2026 14:55

I wake up to pee at least 3-4 times every night. I have learned to pee and go back to sleep quite quickly now though. I don't switch any lights on. Just pee then crawl back into bed.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 20/02/2026 14:55

I drink a lot through the day, but reduced it in the evening and it really helped. I don’t drink after 8pm now.
Wine or any alcohol makes it much worse.

I also have barely any caffeine now. Caffeine was a game changer for me.

15February1960 · 20/02/2026 15:02

I'd be happy to get up twice a night to pee.. try on average 12 times.. l have urge incontinence and a child size bladder..
Just something l get on with.. ( l also have pain insomnia) . Try estrogen cream.

You really made me laugh - you're describing my life, minus the tape, & I still share a bed with my poor DS 😂 I too miss the days I could sleep all night, anywhere, & luxuriate in a dozy lie-in till all hours - seems like that used to happen another lifetime ago!

RottenApplesSpoilTheLot · 20/02/2026 15:08

I'm aware of getting up - 15yrs PM here and on Vag oestrogen - but according to my apple watch data I'm only up for a couple of minutes then pretty much back to sleep. It ranges from 2-6 times a night and my average sleep over the last 6 months is 7hrs 8 mins, I do take longer to get up in the morning if I have had a lot of getting up.

I have an Alexa by my bed and its my habit to just ask it "play apple podcasts" and whatever I was listening to last will come on again, which always helps me get back to sleep - that or the shipping forecast !

winnieanddaisy · 20/02/2026 15:09

Have you been tested for diabetes?

Lottapianos · 20/02/2026 15:10

Another hard recommend for the vaginal oestrogen cream. I'm still peri, but was getting up 4-5 times a night to wee. That's down to once a night after 3 months use

You can start it at any age, and can use even if you're not on systemic HRT

Harrietsaunt · 20/02/2026 15:39

Only twice?

Storynanny1 · 20/02/2026 15:52

i’m way past menopause ( (69) and get up 3/4 times to wee, despite last decaf tea at 4pm! Bizarrely not a problem in peri or menopause, prob started about 15 years ago.
Im on vagifem pessaries and oestrogen cream but after 5 years of them haven’t noticed an improvement other than the benefit of being lubricated.
Ive tried everything for sleeping including the new drug Daridorexant to no avail. Now Im retired it’s slightly easier than when I was still working as an infant teacher every day on about 4/5 hours broken sleep
I don’t know what the answer is, I think I’ve just come to accept that’s my norm.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 20/02/2026 15:53

Well post menopause here, vaginal oestrogen and still get up at least once most nights. I can sometimes sleep through, but only rarely. I have a downstairs bathroom so can't put it off for too long if I decide I need to go!

I have audio books running to help me with night time wakings. Recommend non-fiction or anything read by Stephen Fry.

My mum was told to drink more - counter intuitive but it stops the body hanging on to liquid apparently. This hung on to liquid gets dumped into the kidneys when you lie down to sleep and makes you keep getting up. I’m younger than you (61) but it works for me.

JMSA · 20/02/2026 15:58

Yup. I’m like a camel through the day, but peeing multiple times in the night 🙄
